At the 2:30 mark Gravel Hill Church built in 1835 can be seen upon the hill. It’s predecessor was Antioch Church founded in the 1770’s by Alexander McPherson who settled in the Sinking Creek Valley. His son Jacob was one of the founding fathers of Gravel Hill Church. It is the 2nd longest active church in Virginia. The church is pretty much remained the same as when it was first built.
You should’ve went through more of Craig county, you seemed to have stayed in the 42 / Newport area, but there is a WHOLE lot more historical places and buildings in the county. Just for a future reference in case you plan to come back !
