My Grandmother and grandfather are from Matoaka WV, my grandmother born in 1929 and grandfather in 1923. There names were Arnold C McElyea and Iris Elaine (Basham) "Maiden name" she is the daughter of a man named Arley Basham pastor of a church and jewelry store owner in Matoaka, grandma and grandpa left the town back in the 1950s for work to Florida then to Toledo Ohio where he got a Job working at Libby Glass. They are no longer with us but left behind a large family. I am her second from the youngest Grandson. Apparently there is a family cemetery there in them hills in Mercer County I have not found. I hope to find it someday. 🙏🏼 cheers

I was on the second floor on the right hand side wing the only thing that was wrong with me when my father put me in there is he wanted to hide me because he had molested me and I tried to kill myself they wound up giving me shock therapy and most of the time I was there they kept me in a straight jacket in a single room because I wanted out they were giving you drugs that kept you sleeping all day and if you weren't sleeping you were up cussing because they come in and hit you for no reason just to piss you off and some of the mail orderlies would come in and rape you it was not a nice place I have seen so much in that place. I was there from 77 to 78, 8 months in total

What a sad thing to see. I played in that gym as a visitor in both 1976 and 1977. . Yes we lost but there was no experience like playing at North Fork! The crowd was rabid for there boys but still polite. They fed us and gave us a place to sleep as it was over 150 miles home. I will always cherish the experience and the wonderful people I met seeing some of them several years later at Concord College

Her father, Joseph Miller, owned the other store in Pocahontas known as "Miller's Store" from the late 1890s into I think the 1930s. My grandparents married there and my uncle was born there. The store thrived along with the Company store for many years. Do you have any information on my great grandfather's store? Also, do you have pictures of the one room schoolhouse where my grandma went to school?

You got the name of the town wrong all through the video. Read the sign. It is very clear that the name is Austinville, not Austinsville. I live 10 miles from there and can read.
