@carsauce Would you recommend the regular Polo at around 35k or is there a better new car for that price point? I don't think anything beats the Mazda 3.
No. The money supply was expanded 2020-2023, by about 30% (look up reserve bank statistics in your country) - By definition, the value of the money in your pocket has decreased by 30%, because economic productivity sure as hell didnt rise by 30% in that time period. This is true textbook inflation: The devaluation of currency. Hence prices will rise by about 30% by default assuming everything else is stable.
bought one, most fun little car ever, was expensive but if you take away the body shell a lot of the Enginering is golf . and that motor is the same 2Lturbo so can take all the bolt on bits the GTI and Type R can take, tho limited by putting the power down via the front wheel diff, but a stage 1 engine and dog tune is on the cards next for mine,
Bought a brand new i30 N line 4/5 months back done 8,000 K’s got it for 36,995 and it’s an absolutely incredible little machine, so much fun and quality for not that much cash
Really enjoy watching MattBrandCars reviews informative with few jokes 😀 car looks sweet, do you think the My22 Cerato GT compairs to the Polo GTI, Thanks for all the great reviews 👍
How are you pulling 7.3 as the fastest time to 60? Was the road wet or something? Here in EU when tested it puts an average of 6 seconds flat, with many people testing as low as 5.7
Here in Australia I got 6.5 seconds with draggy on launch. Few things to note in the video, firstly, two heavy guys in the car. Furthermore, and importantly the guy reviewing cannot drive. You need to ease the throttle more. Carsauce is simply full throttling, bouncing of 6k rpm and just wheel spinning. If he maintains a good launch and maybe starts at 4k he will achieve far better grip and a sub 6 second time. I also find the tires are not the greatest. The PZ4s I am running do a far better job. The 6 speed dsg is not the problem, however the slight detune from 153kw to 147 does effect the 0 to 100 time by .200 seconds perhaps?
Really enjoyed your review, had a 3 door Polo GTI a bit over a decade ago which was a ripper with APR tuning. However I must admit it all feels so old now once you've stepped into an electric car (LR3). It's not *that* far off a RWD 3 now, and over the life time of the car I'm sure it's a valid comparison.
Seems like a lovely all-rounder. However, VW have long abandoned the ‘spirit’ of the GTI badge… a small car with a low-displacement engine punching above its weight class. The last VW to do this was the mk5 Polo GTI with the 1.4 twincharged engine… and boy did VW screw that up on the reliability front.
the whole time you keep harping on about a limited slip diff when its got the XDS which is arguably just plain better in a car like this...? those tires are an absolute travesty though
good review, Id ask you to test the cup holders with a cup though. All I can tell from this review is that they wont take a massive water bottle. I wonder if they will fit a coffee cup.
Well I was in the market for one - But Ended up with the i20N instead . The Price is over the top . And it is too much of a 'Cardigan Car' eg it has taken the GTI out our GTI these days . Perhaps it should be name the GT . If I really wanted one I would get a Mark 6 - . This was just too boring for me . As the ST is no longer in Australia well you know .....But always enjoy your review Matt - they are super fun but informative
I do like the tartan seats but im sorry for the price you would expect leather seats. I got a mk5 gti because your videos and The quality is far superior to that of the mk8.
Too many cost cutting instances with this car. The high prices, with all of the hard plastics, lack of bonnet struts, under bonnet paint and the lack of physical buttons indicate that the company is after maximum profits post Dieselgate. Essentially getting customers to pay off their fines that they are responsible for. Poor form VW.
VW couldn't even fit bonnet struts. Where is the paint in the engine bay and under the bonnet? Looks 👀 like a poverty pack in there.....This will be the last ice powered Polo.

If I’m leasing to get rid of at the end of the lease the the VW, if I’m buying it to keep long term, I20 N.
Everything’s gone up 10k.
I saw a secondhand car on car sales and it had actually gone up in price 3k. The world is just full of greed right now 😡
This is so true. It's unbelievable how they've got away with it. Post covid, most decent cars now start at £27k instead of £17k. Utter greed

Lack of chips in CPU’s for new cars

Brexit.
Will pick an i30 nline or Cerato gt over this any day ..and save 10k while u r at it
Got my Cerato Gt 2 weeks ago and I genuinely like it more than this.

@@JacobHall1601 still a Hyundai 🤷🏼♀️
Bought an i30 N line back in April 2022, down nearly 16,000 K’s in it, it’s so fantastic

@@hsv215i sucks to be in AU I guess , never knew they didn’t get it
Two fatties in the car?

The seven speed gear box might make a differnce which we dont get here

The Ford Fiesta is dead here in OZ no need to compare any other Hot Hatch to it.
That’s strange you have to buy the digital dashboard in AU, we get it as standard in the UK
It is part of the "Australia tax".
And the 7 speed box where as they get the 6 speed. Also looks like from the review they get keyless go where as it’s on option in the UK
It’s the same power and Torque as the ST

I20n for it's overt hot hatchness, Polo is nice, but understated, not a problem, but i20n is more to my taste🙂🙂🙂
u r 5 foot 10?
Cool video 👍
My old 2018 Octavia RS had that speaker rattle when the fake noise was coming in :/
the whole time you keep harping on about a limited slip diff when its got the XDS which is arguably just plain better in a car like this...?
those tires are an absolute travesty though
I think the main complaints they have are actually because of the tires not the car
The first question that needs to be asked is : Have the Polo's reliability been improved?

I can confirm they do indeed fit a coffee cup from the likes of Starbucks etc. They also fit a standard can of drink nicely with no slip or wobble.
This is all I need to know 😂
Polo gti for sure , hard to touch the all round capabilities of VW GTI’s
The DSG on this is wet or dry?
Above 240 Nm torque is wet. (code nr. DQ381)
It's the same price as a basic Golf, so my wife is picking her new polo gti up tomorrow. Dont neec a basic golf.
Another xtraview boys but I wouldn't want to put any more power in it without a diff
Thats shocking. The 0-60 is meant to be 6.5
Price is fucked, but you guys made me laugh
I can hear a lot of gear hang
Dying laughing I'm subscribing hahahahahaha

In SA we get the full leather sports seats with red stitching as standard
