I personally think shoemaker was fine, Hawaiin sound had been in front a long time and it was starkey at his absolute best that won the race on a quality Horse imho ☺☺
If Shoemaker had kept tight to the rail in the last furlong he'd have won on Hawaiian Sound , remember backing Julio Mariner who ran quite a good race but going against him in the St Leger which he won at 28-1

John Penney, what a voice. Not Peter O'Sullivan but up there. Shirley Heights, up there figuratively and nominally. Yet one son was better IMHO.
