2013 Camaro here...Mine started having this issue back in 2016. Cost me $1300 to have the dealership replace the radio. The issue caused a bigger issue whereas the constant on and off of the AC broke the actuator, another $2400 to fix that issue. Here it is now 2022 and guess what...yes, you guess it...the replacement radio is doing yet the same F'n thing! Looks like it is time to invest into an aftermarket!

Do I need to just replace the whole radio?

Wife's 14 started doing this 03/26/22. Anyone have a solution? Is it in radio or something deeper?

There are people out there telling others to simply clip the white wire on the Control Head connector and SOME suggest that this wire is totally worthless. H O W E V E R.... that white wire is the CAN Signal (Controller Area NetworK). If you put an oscilloscope on that white wire, you will see data activity. This data is sent from the radio TO the "radio display & climate control head". The reason your radio is turning off is because it lost that CAN Signal. IF you are electronically experienced, the problem is probably a grounding issue in the control head and you can probably fix it yourself. One last possibility is that the problem is in the body control module (BCM). Especially if you are experiencing additional issues with the windows, turn signals, braking, wipers, ect appearing to be a bit out of sync or shutting down your radio if one or more of the other features is communicating through the BCM. The fact that any of these devices works, even for a short duration, implies that the system controller in the BCM is fine and all you need to do is isolate a ground problem, a CAN termination issue, a weak connector contact, or faulty CAN Transceiver chip ($2-5.00 part). The very last thing you want to do is replace the BCM because it's not jus the price of the part but that new BCM needs to be programmed to match the VIN or the engine will not start. That's an additional $200 - $400. If you run into a smooth talking cosmic BSer, the cost can go to $1,600. More often than not, the problem is just a bad trace that needs repaired or the CAN Transceiver has a ground issue. Good luck.

after several searches on youtube, camaro groups, etc....all i can say for sure.....its a typical freaking gm problem that they refuse to do a recall on.....just like the air blend door and pass. side seat activator for airbag.... #$%@ GM!

I am having the same problem now with my 2013. It probably would have happened sooner but I don't drive it. It's only got 35,000 miles. I 🤔 thought it was my fault because I had to replace the main battery cable through the dealership since the battery is in the trunk where my cooler used to go to my boat. Well apparently the electric in these things is junk. Pitty because I bought it to be my retirement hot rod 20 years from now

I'm having the same problems with my 2014. I watched a video of a gal with a 2013 and the same issues. She called Chevy & they gave her a case # and the the number to NHTSA.gov, if they get enough people to call hopefully it can be seen as a recall through Chevy. Customer service # is 800-222-1020 Then once you get your case # call 888-327-4236 NHTSA.gov, the more that people call in the better chances we and making this a recall, spread the news!!
