Well, I knew the added PTC to it. But didn’t know where the equipment was until now. Never would’ve guessed that the antenna equipment would be on the tender.
So wonderful to see Canadian heritage on the rails , absolutely beautiful , to see they had a complement of passenger cars too an the observation car along with the F unit . I'm assuming one of the tenders was for bunker fuel and two for water , great video thanks much for sharing. Cheers.
From far with those ditch lights it kinda looks like a regular train.... but then u realize as it gets close its the most beautiful thing u ever seen on 2 rails!
Thanks for sharing your capture of stills and vids' from this test run, that I was unaware of till now ! 8-) "G-gauge may not RULE, but it GROWS on Ya !!" djc'99
Ben that must have been a fun and rewarding day. I am hoping next summer I can get out to Calgary and see her myself. I have 2860 and all the matching Rapido BCR passenger cars now and as soon as they announce she was hitting the rails I ordered 2816 as well. I should be hunting for that consist too.
Beautiful catch man I can’t wait for the HO scale model to be released by rapido and if someone does the water tenders I’m sure they would go like hot cakes
Rebuilding old Honda mini bikes , hobby farming and spending time with the family. Haven't been spending much time on the layout this past year besides building trees. Just passed 1100 : )
@@tacfoley4443 i double checked my original footage (the clip you are interested in was shot by a friend with his cell phone) and it actually cuts off at the same point in the video. Cant do any better unfortunately. I have half of it on a DSLR frame. If you give me your email ill send it to you.
One of the whistles the 2816 has is the air-powered 5 chime whistle, which is located right next to the smokestack. That whistle was already equipped on the locomotive at the time it was built. The second whistle, which is located right next to the cab of the locomotive, is a custom built 6 chime whistle. Although it’s not the original, it is similar to the one used on the 2860.
Awesome video I will definitely be in Calgary when this beast departs next April and I understand you’re busy and you have a life outside of UA-cam. I mean to use this site for fun I don’t wanna make money off of it by being famous, but don’t worry trains were always come back to you and your kids. They’ll want to play with them eventually Delores.
I believe the whistle in question is one of Canadian Pacific's "Mountain" 5 chimes. Instead of a pull lever to actuate a valve, I believe there is whats called a button valve. You cant really regulate the flown of steam through it which results in the odd lack of quilling. The other whistle is a more traditional pull lever.
Ditch lights on a steam locomotive❔ Maybe thats good for Europe, but in Canada or US, it takes away from the appearance, sorry, but i am not impressed 🤔😔😲😱❗
That whistle is so powerful even by the tone and pitch it makes and its beautiful sound
Great footage!!!! Awesome to see and hear, nothing like a steam locomotive.

Great catch and video! Always love seeing steam locomotives in operation. Interesting to see one with ditchlights and antennas on it.

My grandfather was an engineer for the steam engine The City of Vancouver.
Uh is it just me or dose one of CP cars have the Christmas lights still on it from 2022 season? 1:37
Might be just the accumulation of age dents on their sides, that tricked your eyes.
Nothing I can see on the left side for sure.
So what have you been doing all summer. Haven't seen any updates to your layout or even thoughts about when you will start the CN side of the layout.

Have you ever consider farming out scenery to the art students of your local high school@@BArailsystem
Canadian Pacific should go back to its old paint scheme honestly
Ah, look at it go!
Will this engine come to Ontario? I would love to catch it.
same. I hope it does.
@@skipssmn3754 I looked up the route, the closest it gets to Ontario is Bensenville, Illinois.

Every time I get a look at the top of the second canteen you cut the scene!!!!!!!! Here I am trying to build it in 1/32nd scale....
Always a balance of people complaining the videos are too long versus me cutting too much : )
@@BArailsystemSorry I mentioned it, RBH, but yours is the only video I've yet seen with good views of the all-welded canteen #35508.

THEY RESTORED IT? HOW COME NOBODY TOLD ME?
No whistle sounds better than the 2860 , forever silenced by CN in her mausoleum in Squamish BC
:O
I would of thought cp would of put a better sounding whistle
Sounds like a generic east europe single chime.
It has two whistles, a 5 chime off a CP Selkirk that operates off superheated steam and a Canadian Pacific 6 chime

Stem........
The whistle sounds like one of those soeaker horns in a quiet zone. Sounds awful.

It’s required by regulations.
@@heronimousbrapson863 i have yet to see ditch lights on a U.S. steamer, when i do, i will give up my interest in trains !
