Pandora's Tower can be played with the classic controller, so.. the motion controls are optional.

Little correction: Pandora's Tower was not localized by Xseed. This was done by Nintendo UK, as it was released in Europe a year prior the US Release. Xseed just published the game in the US.

Very nice coverage, with a more complete list than expected. "First game and last game" topic is interesting for showing how the console technology was mastered over its life cycle.

Technically on Sega Dreamcast, last released game was Sakura Wars 4: Fall in Love, Maidens, released in March 2002 (in Japan). This game was also farewell not only for Ogami saga, but aslo farewell with Dreamcast and Sega as a console producer.
The big thing I wonder, though, is that for the game boy games. While pokemon Yellow is probably the last with the 'Game Boy' moniker and not with the label 'Game Boy Color' but, there were several games that were released as 'game boy color' that were entirely playable on the original game boy. I know for a fact that Gold and Silver were one of those that despite saying GBC on the box, but it could still be played on the old monochrome gameboy (though the same can NOT be said for Crystal) So couldn't there be other JRPGs that technically could be the last one made to be played on the original Game Boy in that regard?
I understand the debate about Breath of the Wild being or not an RPG, .. but in my opinion has more "RPG" than Advance Wars DS, that's a Turn Based Strategy Game without the stats, story driven and leveling aspects of games like Fire Emblem.
Even FE had a story than AW
Tales of the Abyss was so exciting on the 3DS, at least for Europeans. We never got it before, so it was a big deal.

I know nothing about that Advance Wars title, i dont know if it actually became an rpg, i only know that the Gba titles are not rpgs.
The sequels are also strategy games. Dual Strike increases the power level of everything but does not change the basic formula while Days of Ruin is a back-to-basics type sequel where the only thing that matters is your skill
Arc the Lad sadly missed the chance of entering the western jrpg culture in the ps1 gen. That would make ATL another srpg to be remembered in the early history of the genre in western gaming culture, that was already deprived of Fire Emblem, Front Mission and Tactics Ogre.

Isnt the problem with Hell's Bells the blatant musical reference? Which historically isnt an issue in the japanese market, but it is in the western countries. I'm reminded that some localized japanese games had changed names (either the own title or something else) for much less than such a direct reference... like Tales of Eternia.

I didn't sure about calling Monster Hunter games a JRPGs. It's definitely have some rpg elements, but not enough to be a JRPG.

I buried Natural Doctrine so I never see it in my collection.
Dual Strike is kinda a remix of the earlier games while being superior in every way. The maps are better, the AI is better, music is better, the characters are better, and the writing is better. However it remains a pure strategy game that more closely resembles Command and Conquer then any kind of rpg. The confusion probably comes from the JRPG-meets-YA-novel plot and the higher power levels of everything
It does work as a standalone game but to fully appreciate it you kinda have to be an OG fan
Errata: You mention Disgaea 3 was a port. I get what you're going for here, but by that logic wouldn't that also apply to the first two Legend of Heroes games on PSP that were originally PC games (well, not PC as we generally use it, the PCEngine systems)? The first Trails in the Sky was The Legend of Heroes VI, at which point they dropped the number monikers (boy would have that gotten confusing for fans of all stripes)
Trails fun fact: (even if I suspect most of the audience here likely knows it) All of them started life meaning to be one arc and all ended up spanning two or more games. Most people will say there are three arcs, I'd argue Cold Steel I & II are one and III & IV are one in a lot of ways, but we'll only ever know if that's how it was intended if Kondo or one of the integral writing staff under him mention it in an interview, I suppose. I'd argue Sky The 3rd and Into Reverie are 'linker games', meant to either continue stories for relevance in other arcs or add lore, and especially in the case of Reverie, correct... oh irony mentioning this in an errata comment, omissions from the story. Also, Toshihiro Kondo worked on some of those first five games, but not in any writing capacity, and then was the lead for every one going forward, conceiving of most of the core story. Kinda crazy how he's juggling that and being the CEO of Nihon Falcom since 2010, six years into sharing his grand fantasy story with the world.
Since I've been watching you frequently said the Trails games were some of your favorites of all time, so this omission surprised me quite a bit.

And to get ahead of someone mentioning it, yeah I know these are edits of old stuff (hey, if you get people to watch it when it's died in the algorithm's cycle completely, all for it. hadn't seen quite a few of these myself), and it's probably stuff this particular audience would already know. But for the few people out there watching that maybe didn't... this is for you.

Men, i played prophecy of the moonlight witch and it was quite fun, mostly a story game, the gameplay got stale by the end, not many bosses surprinsingly, never struggle with it.

Lol I would say that he did that because Xbox is not known for it's rpg/jrpg support. Also as far as the 360 goes all the good rpg/jrpg's were neither first nor last for the console where they had exclusives. Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant, Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery, Magna Carta 2, Kingdom Under Fire and Fable.
@@nastycanadian1975 yes that is indeed very true, and the best jrpg on the og xbox called tenerezza never came out in the west.
