i remember reading that renault had a system to detect when the lights go out and would automatically launch the car, later banned. they argued that you pass the most cars at the start so they designed the car to get to the first corner fastest.
Yeah it was during the Benetton days they used the signal linked to the jump start detection. Their starts at Suzuka in 2001 show how effective it was. BAR tried it as well but couldn’t get it working and it was then banned for 2002.
it made the things a bit more entertaining, on one hand two cars would come blitzing through the field at many of the starts and on the other hand they were in positions they would not be in usually so fights and overtakes happened as a result often
i like it in rfactor or some games. :D but in the real f1 i think it just very automatic and easy for some drivers its too robotic. i think in 2002 lot of things can help your drive: LC, TC, gearing system automatic, or semi auto. And the cars even got a better aerodinamics too got a good handlig, till today. (i know 2017 have a mutch better aero and the pirellis.)

But that was never proven? In my memory, it was just as much rubbish as the Benetton TC story in 1994...

about how software helps drivers get off the line.

DavidR 1 it's no in f1 anymore
So sad that nbcsn isn't the host for f1 coverage anymore. No more Ted, no more Will, no more Crofty
