MWS has followed through with their promises, the siren is now in excellent condition and it runs nicely. Nice work on the part of MWS on restoring this old legend.
at 6:36 you can see in the middle-upper area of the screen a big semi-round chunk taken out of the ground, that was exactly where the horn impacted the ground.
Thank you Ray for this video. As I specified in my community post, we at MWS had hoped to surprise everyone with it at the next SirenCon, however due to the anonymous nature of the video it's definitely best that everyone knows the full story now. Can't wait to show everyone it post refurbishment!
Forgot to mention that too, I hope I can make it over there to see it! Of course, do what you guys need to do to get that old machine running and looking good again, take your time!
Oh my GOD, that marks the 2nd video i've ever seen of a siren falling over, and this one's absolutely insane! Glad to hear that the 500 is ok and that the future is bright for it! Hope to see more videos of its testing and journey to refurbishment in the future!

Ngl I was upset at first about this as like, this is a historic relic that marks the town’s past as well as the fact that it’s my most favorite siren yet the only one in IL and only 30 minutes from me. I am so relieved it wasn’t a demolition and that it is gonna be serving a community again, although I wish it went to a museum or something as they need maintenance

That's one of the few questions I cannot answer with accurate information. Like I said, Midwest Warning System's goal right now is to refurbish the siren. From what I can guess, there are no plans to install it for service anywhere at this time.

It's still a mess?! I thought they would have cleaned it up by now. The reason they left so much behind was because it didn't serve a functional purpose for the siren and could not be reused. The group who removed it also had limited space so they couldn't take everything if they wanted to. The pole, wires, and control box are severely corroded and simply too messed up to try to reuse

Or Like What was The problem the there When i looked into some 500SHTTS They Have just a normal system and Dont they have breakers?.Oh yea they dont. But Like What was the Problem there?
@Vectir442 the pole was rotting and there was an increasing risk of the siren falling over. This could have caused severe damage to nearby foliage and/or power lines
