Thank you, thank you, thank you for uploading this video and sharing!!! I am originally from Japan and have been living in RI almost 15 years now .. one of my friends told me about the Rocky Points and shared his great memories-- a saltwater swimming pool, all you can eat chowder, clam cakes, and watermelon, shuttle from Providence. I could imagine the good old "peaceful" time of RI. The city made it a great park now, but I hope one day, RI billionaires will rebuild this amazing park again...I want to experience it....
Wow spring of 88! I was just getting ready to graduate from high school. The skyline, house of horror, the roller coaster and of course the flume. Brings back great memories! Thanks for posting.
Used to go there all the time as a kid.... I'll never forget riding on the yo-yo listening to 4 non blondes with my best friend Steven A.... Summer of 93
I had a most righteous mullet back then, "before mullets were even referred to as mullets" and between my mullet & all of my friends mullets packed in the car on the way home - after going on The Flume over & over again- well... it was a mess...
Excellent! I just went down there this week to go for a walk. I saw the Arch which I was standing right under! So cool! Awesome video and good song choice!
I loved this place so much. I remember the last time I went was in 95 or thereabouts. it was a trip put on by the WOW center at aquidneck lanes in middletown. your parents dropped you off in the morning at the bowling alley with 20 bucks and they bussed everyone up there and then at 4 or 5 you had to meet back up on the bus. i was 10 or 11 with my younger cousin completely unchaperoned haha. man that would never fly today.
This bring backs so many memories good ones me and my friends would all pile up in a car and to rocky point we went great song for this video saw an Ozzy tribute band there!!
@eightiesdreaming I love this place,we went during the 60`s & early 70`s mostly,Rhode Island Hospital ALWAYS held their outings at Rocky Point which meant an entire day of fun! Baseball games, raffles, the saltwater pool (before the flume ride which always had like a mile long line it seemed,) there was also a time we swam in that water & fished too,the fun of riding those cars through the "funhouse" or "Castle of terror" as the name changed a few times, can`t leave out the concerts, those were cool, yet we especially remember that "Shore Dinner Hall" oh my,that was one "huge" place with the longest tables i`d ever seen, there was also a dance Ballroom/Hall at which wedding receptions as well as reception & functions of all kinds were once held, wow,so many memories,Gratitude for sharing, although i didn`t see many of the rides/games i grew to love & adore in this video, you`ve still brought back the memories i shared with my children whom we brought here in the late 80`s-early 90`s when they were growing up,wonderful video!!! :) :) :)
That was the good old days i use to go every year for my birthday on September 30 with my mother and uncle Norman bliar i would like to go back there again it was my favorite park.
I was born in '91 so the nostalgia isn't really there for me but it is really cool to see the park today and compare these old videos and photos and try to place where everything used to be. I wish I could go back in time and see it all first hand.
Makes me sad as a younger person we didn’t have this yall really grew up in peak Rhode Island lol but I love it here regardless of how crazy it is sometimes
+eightiesdreaming I've been a few times. I went the first time this past winter. I hadn't been to the property since '94. Being there brought back a lot of memories even with everything being gone.
Great video! It looks peculiar to see Rocky Point opened while there are no leaves on the trees. It looks like it was opened in April for a special occasion.
Rocky point park was my play ground and I was a child my uncle normen blair would take me there on my birthday my family owned kids blair show boat back then.
After my time... they got new rides as they should. My first roller coaster ride. First Ferris wheel ride. And the big kid ride.. the sky diver.. huge Ferris wheel , go upside down way up high.1967 It opened in 1847... Can’t find anything on that . Before the first civil war.
Do you still have the original with the audio? Would be so nice to hear those sounds of the amusement parks well,i like this song & it fits very well with this video, was only wondering is all. Much Gratitude for the share, great video, really enjoyed it! :)
Awesome,I am so looking forward to it & i already love this, will be two i will be recommending now! So glad you still have the other, sometimes,on certain videos, good to add music while leaving one of the same video as it was, people can hear what is being said & then people have the choice of both, they will watch "both" of these because this is a "great" video!
Because the investors had made some bad investments and the park couldn't keep bailing them out. They filed bankruptcy and auctioned off all the rides. The park was starting to lose business in 1994 to riverside park in agawam Massachusetts with new roller coasters and rumors of six flags taking the park over which it did in 1999 and is six flags over New England today.
@@charliepastrami2813 it's like every local original homegrown stores and entertainment ...get pushed out by big corporations. It's not their fault. You wanna go to 6flags instead of rocky point or Walmart instead of benny's. It's the way of the world now. Big corporations getting filthy rich while the middle class businesses get swallowed up
Never forget the good times we had here. Make the world a better place, hug a skateboarder ♥️. God bless Rhode Island 🦞
Let's bring back the ride's at rocky point park in Warwick rhode because I miss Rocky point park in Warwick rhode island with all of the ride's.

The way better times I wish RI would open Rocky point again what a tragedy when it closed :( it was the end of an era
Thanks for posting. I miss this place. 2024
I went to Johnson and Wales and we had our 1977 Spring formal dinner and dance in the huge dining hall. Good times.
Damn miss the old days. Now kids just sit home and play video games.
We would probably go outside more if places like this were still open

The skyline…the flume…the corkscrew…the nostalgia.

Let's just do the right thing and bring it back.
Man , every Sunday me and my mom and dad and siblings would go there and have an amazing time! Some of the best memories!
Awesome video of rocky point in 1988.

OMG I love how this had Apollo 11 in it. That was such a fun ride! LOVED this damn place. My heart
Man I wish it would come back.

Really enjoyed this video! Excellent song choice as well. Really takes me back. Thanks!
Wow, look at that. No cell phones and people were able to function.
My childhood 😢 miss Rocky Point so much

Was stationed in Newport from 92-95.
Visited Rocky Point 93 and 95.

I remember it well! Especially loved the big pool and the high platform to dive from.
Just bring back Rocky point in Warwick rhode Island i went there every summer and my birthday .
thanks for sharing, brings back good memories - it looks like it was a cold day by the way people are dressed
Ahh.. the days of Acid washed everything and when guys actually pulled their pants up. :-)
Great video! It looks peculiar to see Rocky Point opened while there are no leaves on the trees. It looks like it was opened in April for a special occasion.
Jupiter Jones Rocky Point always opened on the weekend during Easter - all the way to Memorial day, before officially opening for the summer schedule.
Something tells me this visit to Rocky Point wasn’t during the summer time 😂
Would love to see this with it's original audio.
Great flick took me right back there.
Rocky point park was my play ground and I was a child my uncle normen blair would take me there on my birthday my family owned kids blair show boat back then.
I wish the video was longer and had more footage of the other thrill rides.
I was probably working that day at the Shore Dinner Hall.
Some one should put a park there bring back the rides.
There is a state park there now. It’s very pretty but I agree that some rides would be nice.
After my time... they got new rides as they should.
My first roller coaster ride.
First Ferris wheel ride.
And the big kid ride.. the sky diver.. huge Ferris wheel , go upside down way up high.1967
It opened in 1847...
Can’t find anything on that .
Before the first civil war.
I had a lot of fun at that park the signs are in the store in woonsocket r.i
Dude do you have any film about when the scorpions went there my Wi-Fi my brother and my wife sister live there if you got it please post it
This must've been shot in April or May, 1988

I live in Rhode island
What year?
Normal life pre 9 11 and covid which is all bullish it should have left shit alone
why did they closed rockey point park
Bankruptcy problems.. Mafia probably ran it into the ground. :)
Lasana Disukoita the owners never payed there taxes and took the money from the park and ran

Did this park go out of business because of 6 flags?
