I miss Rocky Point and only wish my children shared in the excitement! I should learn how to surf at 60 always wanted to! Did not know old blue eyes visit Newport during the summer. Thank you and God bless.

The Newport bridge opened in 1969. My family was from Newport but moved to Narragansett
in 1967. We use to take the Jamestown to Newport Ferry when going to visit relatives.
The day the Newport Bridge opened we were one of the first to drive over it. It cost $1.00
my Dad said they will never take the toll off. He was right.

13:15 must be Conimicut Point. Never knew of this deadly spot in the Upper Bay.

There was a brief section with video of cars driving over the Newport Pell Bridge. The Bridge opened in June 1969, so the c. 1967 date is inaccurate.

I noticed that as well. If you watch it again you can tell that it was spiced in the film. I would imagine that they had added that later.

      9:46 ; )
Honestly, that is a good catch! We had similar thoughts ourselves. It does seem apparent that the footage was spliced for that portion, as you can hear a distinct difference in the narrator's voice. As the collection of scenes in this video may come from a number of years around that time, we use "circa" to denote that fact.

    • @deb16acres20
      @deb16acres20 3 роки тому +1

      C. Is an an abbreviation for circa
      Vocabulary: related words and phrases
      Approximate
      (a) sort of idiom -ish about approx. approximate approximately in the neighborhood of sth idiom in the vicinity of idiom loose loosely
So stop trying to be a know it all, lol

The first few seconds the old Jamestown Bridge. I almost got killed on that
bridge twice. Both times it was pure luck that I walked or drove away.
If anyone wants to hear the story let me know. Was born in Newport Love R.I.!!

The metal grating would move cars around and was absolutely treacherous for motorcyclists, especially in a strong crosswind.

Che atmosfera meravigliosa. Dobbiamo lavorare affinché si possa respirare la stessa aria della Newport di quell'epoca

Notice they never mention the name Providence. Not even once! Only a 10 second clip of it with "overcrowded cities and smokestacks" as the voice over. 🤣🤣🤣 Like - "Nothing to see here folks, btw have you heard of Newport or Narragansett?"
