    We are testing the Contax Zeiss 15mm f/3.5 lens. The Contax Zeiss lens lineup where released at the same time Zeiss offered their legendary Super Speed Cine lenses and they share many traits in design and glass. The Contax Zeiss are very thought after lenses for filmmakers delivering a very nice balance between image quality and vintage traits while providing a long focus throw and sturdy built. They are very easy to mod to EF or to adapt to shorter flange mounts
    Taken from our epic episode "Legendary cine lenses on a budget - Zeiss Super Speeds vs Contax Zeiss" where we build a Contax Zeiss "Super Speed" set, with history, test, battles. modding, and so much more:

    I know this isnt content for everyone but it makes a bit sad to see such low view and like counts on most your recent videos. Ive been sharing your long videos everywhere I possibly can trying to get your name out there, to at least pay back in that way for all the amazing content you create. Theres veery few other channels on youtube that have this amount of quality and polish, and I wish for your channel to finally explode and get the attention it deserves.
    On another note, Id like to hear your opinion a vintage lineup called "Jupiter (Юпитер)", theyre all derived from zeiss sonar optical design, and having a jupiter 11 myself Ive never seen such clear image through my viewfinder myself (I only own a Helios 44m and a Mir 1v lens besides this one though so not much to compare against), I wonder if youve ever heard of these soviet lenses that stole from zeiss and what your opinion on them is?

      Thanks man... the Lens Archive was not pushed via notifications to our subs as these are part of longer episodes. These are purely for discovery and convenience.

    I have the Canon FD fish-eye 15mm f2.8 S.S.C it also have the inbuilt filters Sky, Y3, O and R, have you evertested it?

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  3 роки тому +2

      No, we never tested it… fish-eye lenses have very limited use for filmmakers

      I know literally NOTHING about camera lenses. This is essentially a video spoken in the Chinese language about an alien technology that was found in a pyramid somewhere. I’m the last person that should be here.

    Would it be possible to use a pro most filters with this lens is is it too wide for even a matte box? Interested in picking one up but would love to know a pro mist solution

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  3 роки тому +1

      this lens is way to wide for a matte box... and the front element is to vaulted for screw on filters... which is why this lens has a built in filter system 0:18. If you are adventurous enough, you could open the lens, and replace the internal filters with different density pro mist filters that you have cut in the right shape.

      @@MediaDivision internal promist would be such a cool feature if it's possible. I'll do some research to find out what size filters would be needed to achieve it.
      Did you use the 15mm in the field? I'm looking at the Leica version as an alternative to the leica r 19mm.
      My current set is 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 90mm. Thinking the 15mm gives more ability to that set than the 19mm

    • @MediaDivision

      On production? Sure… our into shot is done with the 15mm. It is very wide on FF. Few shots need that FoV.

      @@MediaDivision would you say it's more useful on super 35. Establishing shots and landscapes would look good on this lens on super35 I'd imagine :)

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  3 роки тому

      … the smaller the sensor used, the more useful it gets, because it is closer to a "normal" focal length in the context. But that only means that normal lenses are used more often, not, that an ultra wide wouldn't make sense in some situations.

    Hi guys! This 15mm, its 18mm bigger brother or the Takumar 15mm on GH5ii (I heard the zeiss and Tak 15mm shared same optics) ? I have the contax zeiss 28mm. Thank you!

    35-thousand $ for the lens would a bit much. More like 35-hundred, right? ;-)

    from one creator to another one, based on your recent views I see you dead in the water as well. Sucks, really enjoy your channel

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  3 роки тому +4

      Hey Aram... enjoyed some of your tutorials in the past… thank you for that. We are not dead in the water. These videos are re-uploads of segments that are not pushed to our subs and don't have notifications activated. Out Lens Archive is for search and discovery. We don't expect high view counts on these at all. Our SCOPE series does not perform to our expectation and SCOPE two flopped… that is clear now. Sad, but it is a very very specific subject. Generally we do like lot's of views, but is secondary as it is not a meaningful way to generate revenue in our niche. The concept we follow is members based independent content. We will stick to that goal for a while, and see, if we can make it fly. If not, we are going to do something else.
