Don't think the resolution will be increased. You would need some fine and expensive lenses to benefit and not be limited by diffraction. 30MPx must be sweet spot for APS-C just like 50Mpx on full frame and 100Mpx on medium format. Never mind the increased demand on processing power, storage, buffer cleaning times etc.
When is it gonna release??

BS First thing is that apsc 50mpx is not happening anytime soon, another thing is that nobody is complaining about current resolution... another thing is that sony 6700 is not better than r7 its similar and nikon have nothing on the r7 so there are no real reason for canon to make mark 2 after not even full 2 years... Fujifilm have better cameras but I believe Fuji is not recognized by majority of the photographers as nice option and its not fighting for the same customers that canon is. Its weird that it is like this but olympus and fujifilm users are just differen kind of customer that dont seak bigger sensors and biggest brands they just want the thing that gets the job done and is userfriendly and inovative and Canon Sony an Nikon are just people that dont want to change what they know and they want a gear that you can easly service or rent lenses all over the world :) So basicly I dont se the economic reson to introduce R7 now even if we all want the new better camera
