Valve springs on the hammer is a brilliant modification so much better than side loading a coil spring. You could get more Stroke by just simply moving the actuator back toward the hinge

Might want to consider a shield over the drill vent holes, any metal flakes that get in there will make easy work of shorting it out.
I like it.It makes me think about making a forge and starting up again.🤔

Yes you are correct. I am modifying the hammer to increase the stroke. It really doesn't hit hard enough.
