AHHH I love Adler, Carter and Chase. Such well behaved kids and really love their Dad. They will not forget these fun times. They need a tire swing in any old tree that would be fun and of course a tree house one day when Adler is older. A sand box with cover would be great for Adler. Nice boys enjoy while you can. Chad, w e live in rural Southwest Michigan, and I am a huge plant lover. Every spring -fall I fill my porch with plants. This year was particularly difficult fighting with chipmunks, so we broke down and bought a live small animal trap. Soon far, we have caught and released miles away 4 little guys who have been digging in my houseplants. I know there are probably many more out there, but we are doing away with them live and in new areas. This year was particularly hard, because I have been fighting cancer for the past year, and caring for my plants give me much joy. Honing you catch lots of turtles!

The tenting and kids reminds me of my siblings and I camping. We did plenty of it over the years. We had this huge long blue canvas tent that slept the 7 of us easy. I often wonder how my parents raised the five of us without going nuts lol. Two of my brothers were real terrors lol. Case is a wonderful brother with much patience with the boys.
I loved that joke about the ocean and I loved how he said it and I am so going to say that to my preschoolers tomorrow. :)

Here in NC we have them in wet areas we call them crayfish. Not real fish they have pinchers and make piles of dirt around the opening of their home.😊

Most of the holes you showing are gopher holes . Snake holes are smaller, and isn't piled with dirt. Snakes use all the holes too.

I am the baby of 7 kids. I don't know how my Mama ( passed away in 94 @ 76 yrs old ) did it!! We stopped at 4 - 2 girls & 2 boys. Now we have 10 Grandkids!! I absolutely love it!

I always said I wanted 10, I got 7, then health problems. I still wish for 10. This grandma can only pray that will happen. It was a dream of mine from when I was young. But I thank God everyday for all of mine!

When we lived in Channel view Tx. We used to have crawdads come up through those mounds of mud.
I hear you about the wind, we normally have windy springs but this year we have had over 45 days in a row with winds over 35mph and that has been the low end of the spectrum. Alot of days the winds are sustained at 45mph with gusts up to 70. I think we have had around 10 fires and 2 of them have joined and it has become the largest fire in state history. We haven't had any moisture since last year some time. I love seeing the green, everything is brown and dry here. Enjoy watching the boys and seeing them enjoy the farm God bless

Gopher holes. Believe it or not, tried everything on the market and a bunch of DIY methods and couldn't get rid of a BAD gopher problem. That is until the older gentleman next door, who was a great gardner, shared his secret. (Warning...its kinda gross!). Take some dog poop, toss in hole, cover with dirt and do same to all holes around area. Our gophers were GONE within a few days...they moved on quickly. Apparently, the smell really gets them as its a predator and they vacate fast. Weird but sure worked for us. Great video...loved watching kids, Case is awesome!!

I agree with Todd. Here in Indiana we always called those mounds with holes “crawdad holes”. Not sure if that’s to keep us from sticking our fingers in or not. Neve ever have I seen a crawdad near their hole though.
I am from Louisiana and that is a crawfish hole. Definitely.

I think that large hole is a ground hog hole.That’s what mine looks like. They are so destructive! Glad your arm is doing good.
The holes in the ground could be from what they call a ground squirrels. Use to see them all the time camping in Kentucky and Ohio. I'm sure they probably have them in Oklahoma too, or at least something similar to the ground squirrel.

In the south if you find a hole like that it's usually a crawfish hole. The female lays her eggs in it and covers the hole with mud.
The holes Adler is finding are “crawdad holes”. If you dig deeply enough you will find a freshwater crayfish (crawdad) living inside. I have them in my yard after it rains.
If you put meat on a string, down the hole, you can catch them...mmm good

We have rehomed a lot of snappers who once lived in our pond. Maybe we need turtle traps 😀. We just catch them when they come up to sun in the grass.

From what I can see of the hole, and considering it is near water. I would say it is a crawfish/crawdad hole. Hugs and love from my little corner of Kentucky P.S. Turtles will try to find their way home. They always try to go back to the area they were born in to lay eggs and even breed.

Talking into consideration that the simplest explanation is probably the truest, those holes look like you have a community of prairie dogs, chipmunks, or ground squirrels. They love cheerios.
Question, with the cage underwater to catch the turtles won’t they drowned since they need to breathe the air once in a while?
