Double tracking guitars is a great way to get big larger than life guitar tones in your own recordings. While it's not all that difficult, there's kind a "secret" to keep in mind while doing it to get that sound that you're looking for.
Great video bud and your shot looks amazing!
Thanks Burt really appreciate it!
I use all these same tricks too. All very effective. One additional thing I always do is hard pan the left guitar reverb to the right and vice versa. Great video. Cheers!
That's a great trick as well! Thanks for watching and commenting @jcwm01 !

The hard part is keeping the timing the same, but I have been trying this technique.
As you mentioned, consistent timing is definitely important. If timing gets too far off, then it starts to get muddy sounding. Part of that is to just keep doing it and you'll get better at it. That sounds like what you're doing 👍
Also, there's nothing wrong with a little editing to tighten up the timing. It's done all the time on professional productions. While editing, you may even start to notice patterns of when you get ahead or behind and that can help you get more consistent.

That's seriously the best comment I've gotten so far this year! What other tips and recording info would you like see?
Where is the secret?
2:03 Thanks for watching and have a great day 👍
Not To Mention..IR Cabs
Absolutely! Another great way to change things up a bit. Do you have any favorite IR Cabs that you use?
What about playing slightly different things on each track?
Absolutely! That's a great way to add some interest, width, etc. Playing a bit of a different rhythm and/or playing in different places on the neck are great ways of achieving that. One band I think is really good at doing that is Blackberry Smoke.
Do you have examples you think of?
In metal bands there are generally 2 guitarists, so no need for double tracking so to speak, each of the two guys just record his part, with his guitar, his own technique and feeling and his amp :) And this makes things the biggest possible
Lol no dude. Both guitarists would still double track their guitars. Solo's are also always double tracked. Listen to any records. You're just making stuff up.
Or you could . Copy . Paste . Set eq different . And also tune one down a few cents
Thanks for watching! Do you ever have phase issues when listening in mono?
Nope, that doesn’t work.
Shortcuts sound like shortcuts.

I did that before but it sounded funny
