The asking price is far too aggressive for essentially an upgraded economy car. It would be more palatable if well-equipped closer to the base price. Its direct competitor BMW X1 M35 is more reasonably priced.
Bro, your delivery style with the camera at 45degrees as if you are talking to an imaginary seminar crowd down the road, is wild. Currently considering trading in my 2019 A35 for a 2025 GLA35 here in Japan and your video is helpful. Thanks!
George now that Nathan is moving out your way, you need to relive the cigar chats, I like those more than the reviews. All the best, Evan a viewer since day 1!
This is $25,000 too expensive. The BMW X1 M35i is this vehicles most direct competitor, costing around $20,000 less when spec’d out how people would buy it. Not to mention Mercedes are extremely unreliable and cheap feeling compared to those 15+ years ago
Zoom out and the problem seems to be there isn’t enough being done to draw first time buyers into the enthusiast camp, so that, when the time comes for the $50-100,000 purchase (if it ever does), the draw is to something other than fun. We need a bigger fun-to-drive pipeline on the lower end to provide better options at the top end.
I order mine in Cyprus ( expected delivery in 6 months ) and price here starts at is €62k and with some extras and a lot negotiations final price 65k and before everyone says it's expensive keep in mind x1m35 starts at 61.5 , and glc43 at 87k , macan only electric at 89K ...expensive yes cars in Cyprus become very expensive the last 2 years . We are talking about 25%-30% higher price .Nice video thanks
When are car makers going to learn we want built-in digital gauges…. Not the cheap snap-on strip of plastic that some manufacturer managed to sell to every car maker because it’s cheap for them to buy, requires no integrated design, and easy to replace at a huge profit margin. Leave the touch screen to one section of the center stack, and start designing dashboards again.
I am an AMG enthusiast and own(ed) several AMG, i gotta admit Mercedes needs to step out their comfort zone and look at the competition more closely. 75k for this 35 entry level AMG car is just mind boggling. These type of cars won’t worth half of its original value after 4 years even Mercedes won’t give their own customers a good trade in value on these warm-ish AMG. Spend your money elsewhere, rs3, golf r, m2 , heck a slightly used x3m are in this price range and are much better cars. Ake the f up mercedes.
MB is crazy expensive with options…more than BMW and Audi. Only at gunpoint would I spend 75k on this. Come to think of if, the Ionic 5N for about the same money would be so much better choice, however electric.
Agreed… I’m annoyed we can’t get the Audi Q3RS here either!🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡 Quick Story, my wife wanted a small/compact SUV. We looked at Audi, BMW, MB, & Porsche. The best compromise btw my wife & I was the BMW X1 M35i. It’s due to arrive this month. The MB GLA45 was not available, the Macan T is just too expensive with modest engine output, and the Audi Q3RS was not available either. So, the BMW was the clear winner for us! YMMV…
AMG is watering down the brand way too much in my opinion. It's badge tuning at a premium more than anything. An AMG with only 302 horses? Come on 😂! Call it "Sport" maybe, but not AMG please. Have a nice weekend!
I agree. If it doesn't have an AMG plaque on the engine that indicates it was handcrafted, then it's not a real AMG. I'm not trying to be an elitist, but that's what a n AMG is and shoukd be. Mercedes shouldn't be selling "watered down" AMG cars as a legit AMG car.
Genesis G70 Shooting brake VW Golf R wagon M3 wagon RS4 sport wagon No reason why we can't get these things as most of the bits are in other vehicles that are already here.
If it’s a super expensive GR Corolla, does it mean that the rear differential will overheat once you start using the full potential in sporty driving on a track of this FWD biased platform?
Good question with a short answer: No. Why? The AWD system in this car is TOTALLY different. The GR Corolla is set up to vary the torque MANUALLY (by the driver) from 60/40, 50/50 or 30/70 (f/r). This car cannot do that. The system can send UP TO 50% of the torque to the rear wheels and at that, it is based on a algorithm of the current drive mode, your driving, engine speed, road conditions, etc, etc . . .
They could bring over Škoda Octavia RS Wagon. The looks could compete or exceed Golf R, and the brand is not known in US, so unlikely it ever be happening,
Why can't get the correct versions of cars such as the RS3 hatch & instead have to be satisfied with a sedan version? For god's sake German guys in charge, give us the long roofs & hatch cars. We deserve them just like the Euro populace does, & we will buy them. I agree with you, I would buy an M3 all day over this car, although this car is cool.
Not that knowledgeable about the US market but i always thought you got all the performance flavors from German brands there. The latest sin in the EU ("thanks" EU regulators) is the Cayenne GT cannot be sold here and is exported to outside markets. Tired of all this crap to say the least.
Nope. We don't even get the A class here at all. Lots of the fun, smaller German enthusiast cars and variants don't come here and when they do, are like 25% more expensive than in the EU market.
Good news is that it *may* change with very recent elections. Won't say it was the EV mandates that did it - but I see what the media is labeling as 'extreme' or 'far right' (no such thing) may look to reverse some of the overreaching of green mandates.
@@MotoManTV "Green" targets will not be reached. There´s no way, specially now that the main public is not really that excited about EVs. Last month lots of CEOs already warned about EV/ battery investments could be canceled due to current sales trends, including VW and Stellantis. EU is going step by step to "far right" and all the EV madness is already cooling off in my opinion. "Green parties" so far managed to make cars way more expensive and use our taxpayer money to build something people don´t buy nor want. Great in their minds i guess. Purchasing power going down and transportation getting more expensive... great freaking mix. Hope it changes.
I bought a new 2021 W205 C63 AMG for 72k with a V8TT. Why the hell would I get a gl b? It’s got the same performance as my 2010 Mitsubishi evolution X gsr that I got for $34k. Nobody should be buying this thing for over 50 grand. For 72k it better turn tricks every time I drive it. Like the great Dave Chappelle said, “everytime I spend this kind of money, I expect to C*M”
I am a Mercedes fan, and the GLA/CLA are too expensive to start and the AMG 35s are stupidly expensive. Same 2 liter as the base car with a tune, body kit and some suspension tweaks, this should be like a $55,000 car well equipped, not $75,000.
Moto I agree with some of your logic. This car is bland boring with speaker enhanced fake noise we can hear & $75K FOR THIS BEFORE DMU & taxes is a complete joke. Golf R wagon would be a nice choice but VAG got rid of the wagon because there’s no market here. The majority of buyers are women & they decide the vehicle & they all like to sit up high, thus truckletts are what sells. A regular R or GTI delivers way more fun/dollar than this Merc ever could. But you have remained consistently myopic towards another VAG brand - Audi. I can go out right now and buy a very high-spec RS3 at this price or even less with a ton of personality, performance & styling that this fake AMG can only wish in its wildest dreams. That would be my #1 choice. Cheers!👍
Good eye . . . yet there is a method to my madness. The weather here in California has been challenging at best all year. You may have noticed a lot of 'side shots' in multiple episodes this year. Why? A TON of wind. If I look straight at the camera, the wind hits the mic. If we turn the car around and have the wind to my back - darkness because of back light. We've tried dead cats and mounting the mic differently but the wind has been so strong, this has been our workaround. Probably more than you bargained for but there's the behind the scenes workings.
The asking price is far too aggressive for essentially an upgraded economy car. It would be more palatable if well-equipped closer to the base price. Its direct competitor BMW X1 M35 is more reasonably priced.

Audi has done so well with the RS6 Avant. Why wouldn’t VW send a more affordable “hot” wagon? And why not send the RS3 hatchback? I just don’t get it.
Surprised you mentioned the VW wagon instead of the T Roc
Chevrolet ute comes to mind. Also the various diesel variants of vehicles we drive in the USA only available in Europe.
Thought about including those in the beginning but since the demise of Holden and Ford AU, no longer a thing . . .

Those crappy, aftermarket looking wheels don't suit this car at all.
I would put an order down for a 540i Touring right now if the Bavarians would deign to grace the US with it's presence.
