Well the lyrics are conveying depressing and the stigma that comes along with a mental illness trying to act happy so it makes sense she isn't belting her vocals Hayley has amazing range as an artist

If the conditions are very dry or she's sick, it's probably why she's chewing gum. Sometimes these set ups aren't really "singer friendly" and chewing gum helps.
