9 years without my medicine.It's a miracle I m still alive
GET BACK IN YOUR ROOM!
@@sojournersunrise2290 thanx

9 years since I’ve watched late night talk shows
I could not identify more. Truly inspiring words. Well said👌🏻
Thank you Dave. ❤ And thanks for still keeping us on the toes on The Barbara Gaines Show. ❤
We need a 10 year Letterman retirement anniversary show in 2025. National security depends on it!
Just one show, that's all I ask!
Followed my Craig Ferguson
OMG, a special would be fun. Maybe an extra long Barbara Gaines show? With the band? Which would solidly confirm that the BGS background is not a screen 😅 (pretty sure it’s a the real office, but does WP really need a physical office in 2024? Just working on developing a conspiracy theory - any help appreciated and the sillier the better)
Also, just want to mention that I enjoy this vid - just the monologue. Because the full episode the Johnny tribute episode make me cry every time.
One last thing, just picked my car up from the tow yard. Wanted to check the vehicle before I signed the ‘all hood’ line. Totally missed the perfect opportunity to mention the old DL/Johnny lawsuit. Even though I know nobody in the room would’ve ‘got it’
Hope nobody actually reads this. Love you all
I have watched and listened to David’s beautifully reserved, touching and super-classy final words at the close of this show COUNTLESS dozens of times: “And now, the only thing I have left to do for the last time on a television program, thank you and good night.”
There will never be another David Letterman.
He was magnificent.
Its still very emotional to watch. Late night has never been the same
🎅 He still pops up on UA-cam sometimes.
I can't believe it's been nearly 10 years since he retired!
Crazy right?
Thanks Letterman
You gotta post more of Dave's monologues! They're great!
UA-cam channel Letterman 2015 has his last week of shows
80's 90's Dave was the best. His remotes were hilarious.

@@freeadrian1144 Yes !!
For my generation, this was our May 22, 1992.
Would have been pretty funny if Dave's final show was shown on May 22nd.
@@GeorgiosIoannisPappasKeanu yeah….why did his finale end on Wednesday instead of Friday
That hold on the last note! 🎶🎶🎶💪 such a great band! Also it’s just fun to say Anton Figg!
Sometimes Dave called him Anton Zipp or Buddy Rich Jr.
I remember watching Letterman in the early days at NBC, never stopped there after.
I watched Dave every night throughout high school. When my dad passed and I was going through a hard time, the late show was a great bit of solace every night. Late night isnt the same anymore without him and Conan.
Thanks Dave, for 33 years of premium late night entertainment!
Dave Letterman was the only guy I would get up early in the summer to watch on TV. When he had his morning show with Rich Hall and Edie McClurg. I was such a fan of Dave, I wasn’t going to miss it. One of a kind comedic talent.
All these years later I’m still sad that I grew up I lost time for up tv at 11:35. I can legit, but not blame LS for me being a bad student. Middle school. ~96, judging from the set. Old b/w tv turned so low I could barely hear. Then wondered my my 12 yr old body couldn’t wake up and go to 7:30 school. Lol. Wouldn’t take any of those minutes back!! Then couldn’t sleep and found Conan LN, which the combo just was perfect. So 12yo me didn’t sleep until 1:45/2. I wrote on my middle school walls “watch letterman, not Leno” like any other student even knew what those words meant.
Always kept the love though, WALTER, so happy to find Dave again thanks you you and this channel. Of course, shout out to Donz for always holding the fort down. And then just for rambles, thanks to one of you guys, also Mark Hamill for being an OG taper.
When I heard about the retirement, it was like a month from the day and bank acct said NOPE. but if I had the money - still would’ve gone, just to be on 53rd/broadway and get a sando from Rupert).
Every time I see Dave, I just instantly have a smile that I can’t erase. So many amazing memories, others that I’ve forgotten and now reminded about, and all the LN is new to me and amazing.
Just needed to ramble about this to the world (cuz none of my friends ‘get it’) Thank you WALTER, thank you DONZ for being the OG (I have some questions, but scared about what you’d think).
Again, love DL, love the team, love Mike over at the podcast for confirming that the WP team really was a family that cared and loved each other.
Ok, ramble over.
Ps (obvi love all the other fans too.)
Thanks for the great Show Letterman.
I miss my David & I miss his dear sweet mama who would always have that lovely smile on her face when he spoke to her in her kitchen!😊
"Comedy that we could have done tomorrow" is still comedy nine years later. Always love seeing these flashbacks.
We need a UA-cam channel that plays full episodes of Late Night/Show at it's original air time every week night.
And he's never shaved since....
😂🎅
Miss you Dave! Thank God for UA-cam!
Watching this as if I saw it in real-time nine years ago. I was almost graduating High School then, time flies. Loved the monologue and everything.
"When we started the show, the hottest show on television was Keeping Up With The Gabors!' is such a great joke, it has stuck with me all these years... Turns out it was actually a last minute addition to the monologue, courtesy of Bill Scheft.
Other than mom saying goodbye to us, I'd say this day when the great David Letterman said goodbye on CBS, the saddest day of my life! Miss you man!
What a truly incredible farewell show...can't believe it's been 9 years!
So happy to relive these moments when Dave is still alive. ;)
I’m thankful Dave hasn’t faded into obscurity like Johnny did. His old fashioned hamburgers at the Wendy’s joint are top notch. 👌🏻
The Letterman channel should upload some full episodes similar to how the Carson Tonight Show channel sometimes does
Our country hasn’t been the same since he left. Just everything has gone downhill.
Crazy, he and Jon Stewart both left and late night has sucked ever since and now Jon has come back but he isn’t that funny anymore lol I think Dave should do a Friday show in his old studio (Colbert’s now) once a month, it would be so cool
A piece of my life died on this day
And you out of towners got to be a part of history
Come back Dave!
Miss The Late Show so much. Too bad it's not on anymore.
What a stellar opening segment and ending with President Obama’s sly sense of humor.
David Letterman was my Johnny Carson. Johnny Carson was also my Johnny Carson.❤
I still have this broadcast on VHS. SP speed, Hifi stereo. Along with the Hatsune Miku appearance.
"World Wide Pants" in Maggie's blocks in the Simpsons bit. 😆
This was the last good late night show to exist. Glad Dave still does stuff on his channel and great beard too Dave! You're missed big time!
I wish we could still watch old episodes on demand somehow
I didn't realize it was so long ago.
Live music died the last night of Letterman show has it been the same since. So many wonderful bands have been on that show nowadays late night just massively depressive....
Loved David
Wow! That happened 9 years ago tonight. That was funny and emotional. Am I right?
then, 2016: our NEW national nightmare has begun!
i have a vhs video tape cassette of all the guest bands. it was made on 2 vhs video cassette recorders vcr machines. with T-160 tapes.
Sweet he had some great ones
i honestly gave up watching late night tv after dave retired. i did stay to the end with craig ferguson, but that was just dessert. dave was always the main course.
@@TatumHildebrand i liked conan at 12:30,but when he took over the tonight show (for a brief period) he got a little less edgy. the way NBC treated him sucked. that's when i started watching craig ferguson.
Apparently Dave's apparition now haunts Stephen Colbert staff members at the Ed Sullivan Theatre. But wait?
He is my favorite late night host of all time creepy and corny but the best.
❤❤❤
Dave was so out of the ordinary that his last show was on a Wednesday...
I cried at the end of this show and my girlfriend at the time made fun of me.
He is greatly missed.
Dave, give me a thumbs up if you really read these. (Modern day "Viewer Mail".) I'll be watching for it.
This might as well have been filmed centuries ago. So weird even seeing this.
We need him to come back to do one show a week like Jon Stewart has! He can do Fridays and Colbert can stick to Monday-Thursday
The last top ten list on letterman
And starting 5/21/2015, the massive beard growing began.
Last time Dave had to shave
Jimmy Carter was the only living president not in the opening bit
didn’t his presidency predate Letterman’s run into late night. emphasis on late night, i’m sure someone will mention the morning show
The show reached out, but he was v-v-sick at the time.
I have mixed emotions about seeing that again.
What an awful year 2015 was...... we lost having Letterman every night and got the Orange-man every day and night instead.
Thank you David Letterman for providing us🤔ok er good entertainment.😂 Thank you!👏👏
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
PANTS! Forever!!
Wait! He's retired!?
The only good tv show. I do miss it. ❤
It's been 9 years since this was broadcast....this explains what happened. I never knew. I had not noticed he was gone.
Did he get the tonight show though?
Maybe he did in another universe. In the meantime, this one comedian from the east coast, who I think is named Leno, has had a few HBO comedy specials over the years. 😁
@@bluebear1985i’d like to live in that universe. Letterman has the Tonight Show. Shandling or Carvey hosting Late Night. Leno on CBS. only downside is we might not get Conan :/
@@markjackson6431 Maybe he would have taken an offer from Fox instead of Chevy Chase.
@@bluebear1985 what you’re forgetting is that Conan was an unknown. and Lorne Michaels being the EP for Late Night, helped him out. Crappy Chase was a household name, in any timeline, they’d take the chance.
😭😭😭
Still gets me 😢
sad to see him with all the presidents
Hiiiii dear dave ❤❤❤❤❤
The Late Show died on that day.
Weird to see "older-Dave-sans-beard"
umm...you know Colbert has a Friday slot open
It got hard so Dave quit!
