i think in one of chris tucker interviews he claimed he got that off charlie sheen in money talks where charlie always rocked up late or never at all, the movie crew went according to sheens time and tucker picked that up from there always rocking up late himself

I immediately came to this video after I watched Chris Tucker's interview on the George Lopez show and it compliments each other so well. What Chris Tucker said in that interview directly coincide with what Jackie Chan said in this video. I think they're such good friends that they don't ever conflict and lie about what they're saying about each other. The part about 'Showing up late on the set' are confirmed by both Jackie and Chris.

That’s so strange, I read somewhere he hated the movie and hated how he sounded. Who knows where that source came from
@@ts-rc9fj He was not aware that the movie he was put in was a comedy and not an action movie. So, he was initially confused when it was done and at the premiere people were laughing at the jokes. I don't believe he hated everything about it, he enjoyed the people behind the scenes. But in terms of movie quality, he felt he was restricted in stunts and the language barrier didn't help.

Yeah because black man is something that is irrelevant. They are both cognizant of the fact that they are both of a different race, thus have different cultural norms/habits. But that does not mean they can't get along and be friends. It just means that they are not feeble minded adults that have to constantly bring up race as the topic of discussion. Everyone can look at you and see that you're black, brown, white, yellow, green, purple, and not have to say it, but recognize cultural differences in a respective manner without having to talk about it and can get along just fine. They don't have to pretend that "race doesn't exist" and all that stupid bullshit that is constantly pushed. Because it does exist, but it does not define who a person is. My best friend in the world is from New Delhi India, I was born in Lexington South Carolina. Yeah later on down the line we have of course talked about each other's country and cultures and etc. But when we met, that was not what mattered. Just that we enjoyed each other's company and we became instant friends.

I remember Chris Tucker once accepted an award by himself for best movie duo or something after the first Rush Hour. He never mentioned Jackie Chan in his acceptance speech and instead promoted a charity. You can definitely get the sense that they didn't actually get along back then. Later on, Jackie has also said that he used to avoid Chris in-between their shooting schedules. But their friendship really developed in the sequels.

I love it when Jackie loosens up and uses his great sense of humor. It seems like he is often uncomfortable with his English and doesn't want to say the wrong thing, but he seems like such a wonderfully funny, humble and professional person to talk to.

I'm embarrassed to say I've watched this video more than once... or 5 times. I had the biggest smile when Jackie talked about how Chris Tucker would make an international calls to to him in Hong Kong from America. I love that they're actually friends and keep in touch. The world is beyond insane and ridiculous right now, with just nothing, but hate being flung around. Sentimental stuff like this is hitting me in ways I did not anticipate. Also probably underestimated the power of nostalgia.

Biggest reason Rush Hour was so awesome is because of their chemistry but the relationship between Lee n Carter was like an exact representation of Jackie n Chris's first meeting. We saw a true britherhood forming right on our screens man!

The movie director’s proposal was incredibly ingenious in the first place, which was to make a typical African American dude interact with a typical Chinese fellow. Not surprisingly, it’s hard even to imagine it, however it turns out to make up one of the greatest interaction in movies. Hats off to this amazing idea.

Its great how jackie explained how their relationship has grown where Tucker started out a little aloof, talking too quick for Jackie and showing up late on set. Then eventually Tucker's professionalism improved and he was on-time to the set and he became considerate about communicating with Jackie and speaking slower so he could understand him
