Yeah, Jackie definitely knew his stunt work. Like the bit where he said the guy who took the fall in the first video would be OK, because it's true; if you're trained in stuntwork, you know how to break falls and roll in ways that minimize the injuries to your body. But that last video, where the guy slammed into the fence and it looks like all the force landed squarely on his hips or lower back, that leaves you with no way to diffuse the impact and I wouldn't be surprised if that guy suffered a spinal fracture or another kind of permanent back injury from it. >.
I agree. In that guy's case, those jeans don't allow more room for him to angle his leg where he can perform a high kick. The shoes that he's wearing look comfortable for walking, but definitely not built to protect his feet for stunts.

I thought this would be something to laugh at, but he was so professional. I never thought about how much analyzing goes into what he does. The way he analyzes the very first one is so impressive. What a legend.
There was an interview in a Hong Kong show with a famous Hong Kong actress Sandra ng cohort with Chin kar lok (wide known stuntman/actor) interviewing with yuen wah(classmate of Jackie Chan) and Gordon liu about hong Kong stunt career in the 80s to present day. Those actors/stuntman joked that even during regular personal day they look at building and see the possibility of doing a stunt right there
I love how casually Jackie says if you say no, you out of a job. What these stunt people put themselves through to earn a living is incredible. He’s made it. But he understands the hard work it takes to get there.
In China and Hong Kong, if you don't do a stunt, you don't get paid for the day. You earn based on stunts you perform, not on your downtime in between them. It's tough, but that's how it is working over there. There are always many people standing by willing to do your job, often for less..
Jackie Chan is as down to earth as anyone. I remember when I heard he was in San Francisco's Chinatown, I headed down there as soon as I can just catch a glimpse of him. I was on a bus and noticed a huge crowd. The bus stopped and I was about to get off but before I could, Jackie gets on the bus. He starts shaking everyone's hands. The majority of people on that bus were Chinese, so Jackie was speaking Cantonese to them. I was around 14 years old then. This was around the time of Police Story and Project A era. He walked by and rubbed my head like I was a little kid and asked if I was doing good (in Cantonese). It was awesome. I was already a huge Jackie Chan fan and became an even bigger one after that.
If he does a triple somersault he make it. A single, he fall. It's okay, the fall don't hurt much. OMG! I was rolling. I Adore Jackie. It was hilarious because he was trying to find the positive in each stunt attempt.
I love how seriously Jackie's taking this. The first first one, after what he said, I was like "Oh yeah, if it's a single, he over-rotated and he'll be on his face," meanwhile the audience is acting like it's American's Funniest Home Videos. Also, Jackie's right: studios want people who are there to work and it's a very competitive business and they don't have time to bust out a fainting couch for you.
Jackie was serious when he said "if you say No you are out". Sometimes he is serious but people still laugh. He is just talking normally not cracking a joke every sentence but folks seem to think he does because his Hollywood movies are all action comedies.
Beg your pardon sir, his movies A..... LOT are about the same before he got hollywood-ed 🤣... I only knew one he make a ballad, a police story, cmiiw, the story about a man who become a police and as a person, he have an autis brother (sammo hung) it's kind a bring you a sad emotion if not tragic
Young Jackie at 70' start as a kungfu action movies. But his movies 80's - 90's are focused as comedy action. Have you ever watch Twin Dragon, Project A, Project A 2, City Hunter, Armour of God 2 and so on? It's a good hilarious movies 😅
Aw dang, that ended way too fast I wanted to watch like 3 hours of Jackie just nailing prediction after prediction in his awesome signature funny way...
This guy is an absolute legend. Anyone who's watched his Chinese films when he was in his prime knows he does all his own dangerous stunts, risking his life and constantly injuring himself. In those films in the credits they always show the cuts where he's injured and some of them are brutal, but that was the Asian film industry back then
Well the host is not particularly bright, arguably the dimmest bulb in Hollywood. He struggles to direct easy interviews let alone an ESL interview. Jackie is on the opposite end of the spectrum. A brilliant legend.
@@KingJay_the1st I had no idea! I thought I was watching a movie about a guy that had a really bad talk show who was really bad at interviewing his guests. Now that I know it's real, he should definitely stick with family feud and avoid beauty pageants and talk shows.

He's right, too. The shoes could maybe work if you're used to doing that maneuver well, but those are definitely not pants suited for that kind of activity.

I sincerely think he was basing it on his own experience. You know, something like, 'I did something similar in the past, and the only time I succeeded was with 3 flips. Other than 3 flips, I kissed the ground....'
Creatip So you I’m assuming you obviously 🙄 didn’t read my last sentence where I clearly said ‘Only a man with Experience can confidently make such a bold prediction ‘ ....
"When you fell, the director 'Are you ok?' 'Yeah, I'm okay.' If you say no, you're out." 🤣 When it come to stunts, Jackie always deal it seriously. His dedication is out of this world. Broken bones, hole on his skull, nothing stop him
Tosh.0 did a segment in his show where he critiques viral fail videos, and tries to get people to get them to succeed. Jackie would know what he was doing a hell of a lot more too

Yes and I remember he did an interview where he told them he got paid 30 dollars a day for hours of work. These guys are risking their safety and lives but get paid next to nothing.
It's true, what he said about the industry in his starting days. If you can't endure, you're disqualified for the stunt. Keep in mind, back in the days of HK very little equipment is used for protection of the stuntman. The achievement for such amazing choreography in cinema nowadays comes from the people who taught him.
Fahad Riaz nope cause Jackie Chan use pretty much physics in predicting what will happen. he said in the last one that if he had ran faster he would get there and that require speed.
That’s when you know you’ve made it, when you got Steve Harvey calling you ‘Sir’. This generation will never be able to experience someone like Jackie as he was in his youth and nobody can ever replace Jackie.
Keanu Reeves and Jackie Chan are my celebrity heroes. Not the characters they play, but their actual characters in real life. Such genuine, kind, hardworking, charismatic, cool, and simple gentlemen.

@@RealLaone His work on the foreigner was actually still borderline hardcore, not as hard but hardcore along Jackie Chan standards. He toned down the stunts already since he usually does continuous filming since that makes every stunt look way cooler since there's no breaks just one shot. So if you noticed his other movies he does it all in one take with like alot of stunts in it while others usually chops them up to make the stunts look good. Pretty sure he has some level of pain but his pain tolerance is so high he just shrugs it off like nothing. He is indeed lucky though he didnt sustain any permanent pain, or perhaps he does but it's not so bad since he can still do stunts for his age. I wont be shocked if he does have some permanent discomfort here or there though, but he looks like a guy who takes care of himself better than your average dude.
That was actually a lot more professional than i expected. Those were amazing details, he could eyeball the physics, even identify by the clothes being worn that it wouldnt work.
his comments may sounds funny.. but u can find then genuine & from people with experience. he also knows whether hurt enough & 'not so much'. plus, it's true when he said 'We said ok. if said don't, we get kick out from the job' . we Asians like that. we even know 'stuntman' only recently.

Carlos Arias.. rumble in the Bronx was one of my many favourite movies while growing up.
Yeah, he's a professional and the way he sees through all of those becomes a natural thing for him.

This was genius. One of the best segments I've watched on a talk show. I could watch Jackie analyze stunts all day. Keep it coming Steve.
I love how casually Jackie says if you say no, you out of a job. What these stunt people put themselves through to earn a living is incredible. He’s made it. But he understands the hard work it takes to get there.
There will never ever be a celebrity more humble than Jackie Chan.

In China and Hong Kong, if you don't do a stunt, you don't get paid for the day. You earn based on stunts you perform, not on your downtime in between them. It's tough, but that's how it is working over there. There are always many people standing by willing to do your job, often for less..
Jackie is so funny without even trying to be. He has a child like innocence to him.
Too awesome thanks for sharing!
I wish more people were like Jackie

I LOVED this Cartoon
If he does a triple somersault he make it. A single, he fall. It's okay, the fall don't hurt much. OMG! I was rolling. I Adore Jackie. It was hilarious because he was trying to find the positive in each stunt attempt.
snowladeae1805 Ikr! Jackie is so awesome
But it is okay, because that dude's hand has already touch the ground before his face... It would be worse if he hit his head immediately
He did this for living. People like that can tell by just looking.
Every master was once a noob
and you know what? he is correct he did predict that if its is a single flip he fell

I think sometimes we laugh at something serious because we know it's true.

Yes and I remember he did an interview where he told them he got paid 30 dollars a day for hours of work. These guys are risking their safety and lives but get paid next to nothing.
Fun Fact: Bruce accidentally elbowed Jackie in the ribs too hard, and was hospitalized.
Fist of fury too. He pretended to get hurt more so that he can have Bruce Lee's attention.
