Sometime next year alot of people in parliament will have a brand new Rolex. ^^
Under western insurance laws, if any part of this is a insurance, it will make the tourist insurance you get at home, null and void, as they will say that you are insured and paid it as you entered the Country, and will refuse to pay out, just like when your government says its not safe to go somewhere, your insurance will not cover you.
Now Thailand not only allows discrimination against tourist at tourist places, they now want to charge you for it, and there are far many more SE Asian countries to go to that are not becoming more and more hostile to people that want to come and enjoy their country. The land of smiles, as they stab you in the back.
Also you should charge anyone anywhere for not wearing a helmet. The Law has been on the books forever this will also increase revenue for the kingdom.

Many countries charge tourist as airport use, but nobody knows how the tax money are being used.
Here's the thing. Paying this tax once a year is fine. But for the people who travel to Thailand 2-3 times per year or more. It's quite unfair. There should be a way to limit and indentify the amount of time onr single person is paying the tax.

Thai government is funny they should say tourist tips for service, they say tourist tax sound like tourist are Working for them to pay the tax in Thailand
Maybe it's my English problem. I don't know exactly what they will call in official words in English. Please don't blame yet
40 years ago you had to pay tax in Thailand if you stayed here more than 6 month during the last 12 month. Never mind you had any income or not. I still have a passport with several tax clearance stamps. Without doing tax clearance you were not allowed to leave the country.
@@LasseInSurin I know if I'm not worng all the tax people pay 70% go to government porkets 30% go to citizen I saw some government workers go work at country side they have so many cars, so many houses,so many elephants and some teachers go teach children in the country side villages they just go teach one a month and take full salary every month some citizen at country side they can't go to hospital in city they scared of have to pay hospital bill some people choose to stay at home when they get sick.
@@dahsudahsu222 It's changing to the better. Before every thing was so corrupted, you could not get anything done at a government office without paying bribes, same problem for Thai people. Now you normally never have to pay bribes at any government office. Thai citicens can now get a "health card" for about 30 THB and get free medical care at any govenrment hospitay, even surgeries. That has resulted in that the government hospitals are often very crowded, problem to get beds for all patients. My wife is working as a deputy manager for a government office so I have quite good insight about what is going on. They have had internal "No Corruption" campaigns several times to try to minimize the corruption. I lived here also in the 1980's and there is a big difference now, it's actually getting much better. It's still a long way to go but as long as it's moving in the right direction there is hope. Hope is nothing I have left for Sweden, where I come from, so I will propably never move back.

Used to be a 500 baht depatrture tax and a few years ago a 30 baht airport tax (for underinsured tourist medical tax). These are still being charged I'm sure. Thai government is tapping the tourist cash cow again.
I'm coming back in a couple of weeks for 1-1/2 months. I've noticed on my other trips that Thai's love to charge farang's extra for things. When Zoey & I went to Krabi for a long boat trip to Hong Island I had to pay an extra 400 baht for what I call "farang tax." Zoey told me about it before we went & said it's just the Thai way. Most Thai's think that people from the US are rich. We aren't!!
Regarding Koh Hong. How is the snorkeling in the cove across from where they tie the boats up, are the coral (and fishies) back now?
@@2lotusman851 I didn't snorkel myself but, the people that did saw some fish but, no one really mentioned the coral. They did say that they saw quite a few amemonen (not sure I spelled that right). Had a great time though!!
The Uk is such a tourist attraction people get in for free get free hotels clothes and food … can’t believe I’ll have to pay 300bht 😂

I am visiting Thailand again in October, I agree with the correspondent below about the step rise in air fares, and the Thai Baht appears to be strengthening against the English pound, so cost of my trip will be much more expensive, 300 Baht on that basis is not a problem, but it should go to good use.

Thai government make lot of money from tourist.. if any one traveling from India to Thailand we need 12 thousand rupee extra.. visa 2200 bht 5 thousand rupees, 300 bht for travel fee 800 rs, health insurance 1000rs ….RTPCR test 2000 bht 4700 rs..This is not correct what they r doing to tourists.
that RT pcr test is due to the rules passed by indian government, totally stupid, i agree yes, the travel insurance is also due to the same .
visa amout 5K could be reduced by thailand gov, can make it half at par with cambodian visa fee.

Transit passengers are those who don't live the "sterile" part of the airport. If they stay 2-5 days they are NOT transit passengers.

It is not a big amount, but the purpose of it is doubtful.. Many of the main attractions already charge extra for foreigners (local and foreigners price).. Means they now double charge us for their maintenance/development.. Anyway, it's their country and their rules.. We either live with it, or skip it, that's all..

Hello Teya, I'm citizen of Latvia (30 days visa exemption country). At the end of this year I am going to visit Thailand. My arrival in Bangkok will be on December 11, 2023, and the flight back from Bangkok to Latvia will be on February 8, 2024. Also, I am going to visit Malaysia during this period. My flight from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur will be on January 5, 2024, and on January 13, 2024 I will fly back to Bangkok from Kuala Lumpur. Please tell me, do I need to apply for a Thai visa for this trip. I ask this question because I'm not sure is it possible to leave Thailand for such a short period of time and return there again for a new visa-free period.
After you leave Thailand and come back on, you can stay for another 30 days. If longer than 30 days you must extend visa
Today Thai Government announced about they will start landing fee if tourist come by air 300 baht and if come by sea or land 150 baht for tourist w. e. f. Dt. 01 Jun 2023.

If you ride a motorcycle in Thailand, my advice is if you are a Farang.... wear a mirrored mask on your helmet... and a side mount go pro.."detection avoidance" And the bogus tickets deterred...don't pay the bribe $, force their hand....
It seems that the tourist tax is going to be implemented fairly as each tourist will be charged instead of a plane being taxed wether it is full or half empty, but it is a small fee to pay in relation to your airline ticket price.
Seems like an odd way to attract tourists. People who have dual citizenship will want to make sure to enter with their Thai passport.

Very kind of the Thai government to tax us, so it can help out the poor tourists who get into trouble. Will you increase the tax if more foreigners get into problems? Personally speaking, you should compel all foreigners to buy travel insurance. If they can’t afford it should they really be going on holiday?
