10:31 yesterday I took a tour of a massive stone building that looks like this, supposedly built in 1824. When the city had a population of 10,000. Luckily it's a "brewery" so we could sample the beer and celebrate the building's "200th birthday" and the nonsensical story told by the tour guide. I love the way I understand things now, thanks Jon.

I live in Portland. There is a a skinny door still intact on Market St. which is atleast 15 ft tall and the doorbell is 5 ft off the ground. In fact, even alot of the old repurposed doors were made for very tall people.

❤❤❤ has anyone noticed if viewing the people who survived and are posting videos of the destruction in North Carolina that the only buildings, roads, and bridges that are still standind and intact are from the old world. The homes and businesses that washed away were all our cheep new construction... I also noticed the old Vanderbilt mantion was built to be seperated and isolated from access I bet its purposeful to protect from desperate survivors because this is the stages of the damage we see in past resets, were living it now. Consider this for a moment: U.S. coins didn't feature presidents until the 1900s. Prior to this, (from the 1700s to late 1800s) they featured only Indians and Lady Liberty. Also in the early 1900s, you see Mount Rushmore begin to be reconfigured from the Six Grandfathers to what it is today. So, is it reasonable to believe that our early presidents were actually the commanders of an invading force who waged war on America between the 1700s and the 1860s, with a mop-up and consolidation of power campaign lasting from the late 1860s to the early 1900s? And that the coins and Mount Rushmore (even the Lincoln Monument) are just ways to commemorate and enshrine their victorious commanders? Our American history may just be a twisted story of victorious conquest. I think the clues are there in our coins as to who really controlled America prior to the invasion. I mean, the invaders REALLY leaned hard into either wiping out or "re-educating" the Indians after the Civil War. Almost unnecessarily so. Just a thought.

How about a video based upon the evolution of the Shovel? Clearly these massive mega structures had to have a solid foundation dug deep b/c nobody in today’s world just builds on top of the ground without restructuring the ground first.
The evolution of the shovel would showcase how hard it must of been to dig that deep, kicking the shovel with improper footwear destroys your feet
(you don’t last long wearing sneakers & our modern boots are light years ahead of what was)
then how much time would the excavation alone take?
And these old mega structures don’t have faulty foundations, massive cracks causing it to be uninhabitable and look really good for the engineering that went into it wayyyy back then…

Jon, there's a chapter in the book 'Three Years Among The Comanches' where the author, Nelson Lee, talks about his experience of coming upon one of these beautiful, abandoned, stone-built old world cities while he was living with the Comanches. He said there was an immense cathedral and other impressive buildings in various degrees of ruin.
The Comanches knew about the place and brought him there to show it to him. It was in a desolated valley where nothing lived, and no one usually went there. I got the impression, from his description, that the area had been poisoned or irradiated somehow.
The Comanches told Lee that the people who had lived there had incurred the wrath of the gods and been destroyed. The Comanches had zero interest in living in the ruins, as they seemed to feel the place was cursed. Besides which, how could they hunt in a lifeless valley?
I think the book was written around 1840-1850, and iirc they were in Arizona.
I wonder if that city of ruins is now a living city, and the cathedral fixed up and put back into service? If so, I wonder when it was "founded" and what name it's known by now?
I believe Nelson Lee's book is available for free online, if anyone cares to read it and find that chapter. I read it a while ago, so my memory of what it said may not be 100% accurate.

I have a few books from the early 1800's. Fortunately for me, my g-g-grandfather was a teacher and my family cherished books as though they were made of gold. I even have some that are written in such an old version of German I have yet to find anyone who can translate them for me. Be blessed friend.

Those brick houses look like where i grew up in Philadelphia, and many sidewalks were either slate or brick, and streets were cobblestone. Some places remain, but quickly disappearing. Thanks Jon, for everything ! It's been an interesting trip these last 4+ yrs with ya bro . Much Aloha !

I totally agree with your assessment of fireworks. As a kid they were fun. As an adult, I think it's ridiculous that grown people get excited every year breathing in the chemicals. Especially in the desert as in Phoenix where I live. As an ex arborist I am always dismayed at the timeliness portrayed with the destroyed cities as you stated. Fires don't destroy brick buildings.
