Goode and Harmon in closing line up is a fucking disaster and Underwood just does not want to change it. It is a tried and failed lineup that he just does not want to change. Mind boggling
You guys are the most honest takes on this game. Tired of all the recording-in-their-mom’s-basemen-podcasters blaming the refs and that Illinois is the better team. Purdue’s out of conference record is impeccable. I was there and saw the entire whole court. Wtf? We played terribly in the second half. TSJ stood in the corner all game long. Refused to attack the glass defensively and just stood on the perimeter and took off hoping someone would throw him the ball. Without a strong midrange game, he’s not bowling anyone over in the League. Brad’s late game line ups are inexcusable. Pull Harmon and Goode (who weren’t doing crap) and put in Ty and Dain and Guerrier in drop on Edey and double and prioritize rebounding. Purdue made some tough threes but they don’t get shots if we offensively rebound. Same decisions, same results.
I thought the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half was the difference in the game. Boilers erased the lead in a heartbeat, rather than Illini building on it.
This was classic Brad. He experiments what he should not experiment and does not experiment what he should. First half great ball movement, fast pace, Dainja, Gurrrier, Rodgers - was working. Instead of not touching it, he changed it and we got burnt. Last 5 minute - historically BBQ Goode did not work for all of our losses - yet he plays BBQ Goode and we get burned. Yet again. Change what does not work and keep what works. He does neither.
Hopefully, next time the game is on the line, we will not see Goode or Harmon. We definitely need more Quincy. The Illini were beat by a better team. The fact that the Illini still can't figure out who is in the game in the final minutes isn't good. Is there any eligibility left on Domask for next year?
I hope that BU has seen enough now that especially Goode and to some extent Harmon can’t out perform Quincy and Ty when the pressure is on. I would be playing Dain and Armani more than Goode and Harmon. Illinois can go on a deep March run and maybe get a rematch with Purdue!
No ifs ands or buts about it, Please don't play Goode in the clutch again. PLEASE. We're 2-5 in close games when he plays in the clutch in BIG play and haven't lost when he doesn't.
i have seen enough sample size now to predict he will play again in clutch if he is healthy. Izzo and Underwood keep pushing the same buttons - sometimes it works wonders while other times they fall apart. Hopefully Izzo March magic works for Underwood but I would not count on it
Braden Smith is a complete zero athletically. There is no reason they should allow a guy like that to shoot those shots without being in his face. He's not going to (or should not) be capable of blowing by Illinois' guards
defense needs to get back to last year. Also watch this UCLA game how Dain helped us guard opposing centers - who this year have free reign against Coleman. See how Coleman was so great at passing to Dain. The defense was great, as Dainja was playing enough minutes and we were a better team with aggressive defense. We now have neither. ua-cam.com/video/-SKEuvEKXpo/v-deo.htmlsi=_zMejlvhyZzVQIdH
..IL is an offensive machine so the total of 71 pts was surprising
Illini fan since 1972. Enjoy your content. Keep up the good work

I’s a head scratcher.
Wish Sincere woulda played this year to come in a create havoc on defense when we needed a boost.
Agree - Purdue will go as far as Smith and Loyer will take them. Championship teams have championship guards.
As an Illini fan, I am a bit encouraged after hearing Mike's opinion. ILL

we needed more Dain, Rogers and Gurrier instead of Goode and Harmon. Brad always goes to them in teh clutch and we continue to get burned

i would bet Underwood does the same thing. he NEVER changes things that do not work and constantly tinkers things that do work
It seemed the team played better without Shannon on the floor.

i would play Gurrier over Armani but yes please more Dain. Our defense on opposing 5 looks like shit when Coleman is at 5
I think Jeremy is going to end up with eight players on his All Big Ten 1st team! ;)
Bluey 🔥

Doesn't hurt that Refs consistently refuse to call fouls on Eady
