  • When I watched A Place Further than the Universe as it aired back in 2018, I was transfixed. It's a show that spoke to me from its very first episode. It made me laugh, cry, and look towards my future within a different perspective.
This show demonstrates youth in a way that makes life work being excited over. Taking pleasure in the small things, whilst still dreaming big. you may not be able to achieve you dreams right now. Or tomorrow. Or a years time! But someday. And not just one dream, but several, a few, maybe even ALL your dreams, because not everything has to be done now.
Youth can be experienced over and over, if you just allow it.

I'm crying really hard that part about feeling like you've accomplished nothing in today's environment. I'm only 16 and yet I already feel cheated out of my youth. that I grew up too fast and now it's leaving me behind.
I'm happy that I know that even in the future I can experience things I wasn't able to younger but it still makes me feel upset.

I think the feeling of having grown up too fast is something many already experience as teenagers. As lines in motion said, it's hard to get out of that mindset.
But don't get hung up on what you didn't do - instead think about what you didn't do _yet,_ what you can do tomorrow, and plan for _now._
Life's short (take the elderly's word for it, lol). But there's great things to be done at any age.
While _A Place Further Than The Universe_ can make you feel nostalgic for experiences you didn't have at a certain age, it can inspire to create strong experiences that you can still look back on as fondly.
True, some experiences can only be had at a certain part in life. But those are actually far fewer than those you can have at any age, especially if you keep an open mindset.

7:45 This is such an important life lesson.
One that encourages a gratitude for one's life - both in the uplifting, as well as the empowering sense.
And you happened to deliver it in a beautiful way; within a review of the anime that also made me think about that quite emotionally when I watched it in 2018.
Youthful desire is ultimately not a matter of your age, but your attitude.
And the best part about this is that it actually does keep your young - look at the habits of centenarians, and you'll see a trend that they managed to keep their childlike spirit.
Curiosity is a power that allows you to seize each day.
Also, sorry for hijacking your comment section, lol. _A Place Further than the Universe_ left a strong impression on me back then.
And your review somehow managed to hit me with nostalgia in a more personal way than rewatching a trailer or an individual episode would have. Perhaps because it provided a new impression and built on top of good experiences looking forward, rather than merely evoking a "yearning" for the past.

Ah, it's videos like these that remind me how beautiful anime can be. Perhaps I often forget it since there are many anime that aren't really like that. And I think that's why anime like _A Place Further than the Universe_ are so special. Not only the fact that they leave wonderful messages to their viewers, but the fact that they are pretty rare and hard (not too much though) to find makes them so much more special. So thank you for making this lovely video. I really regret watching _A Place Further than the Universe_ simply for its Slice of Life elements now. I finished A Place Further than the Universe a couple days ago after being reluctant to watch it. When I read the synopsis for the anime I was underestimating it by thinking “what's so special about it” and “stories like this are usually very stereotypical so it wouldn’t resonate with me and give me something new.” Oh boy was I wrong about that.
Watched the first episode and immediately got attacked by Kimari’s fear of trying something new. Her lines were “It’s the thing I’ve always done.. When I try joining new clubs, when I try to learn new things, when I thought about taking an entrance exam for a really good school, I always chicken out at the very last minute.” Those lines describe me so well, I’ve always been afraid of everything thinking it will backfire. I think the only time I took courage was when I joined my school's marching band and I absolutely love playing the instrument but the environment of that club was the deal breaker. Seniors and teachers of the club had very different ideas and rationality so it estranged the underclassman relationship with them including my peers and those under us. Naturally, the underclassman made a bond and swore to never act like those seniors but it still didn’t change anything because the roots had been planted. Some of my peers left the club because of it and it saddened me because I love playing with them. Nevertheless, I kept going because I love playing and I love the friends that I made there.
After high school I wanted to continue playing but because of the toxic environment that was created by the seniors and teachers I stopped. Not only has it stopped me from playing instruments, it has also made me afraid of new environments. I was and always been a shy person and it's hard for me to adapt to new things. When college started, I shut myself down despite trying to but it was still hard. College is always seen as a time and space to try something new or a period to start doing the most because your future depends on it. Pressured by that notion, I wanted to join an organization but has always backed away at the last minute just like Kimari. I’m going into my third year now and still at the same place and I think I’m getting a little bit comfortable with it. Even though, just like Kimari, I hated it. Hopefully I can overcome it in the near future.
Sorry for the long comment, it's my first time watching you and your video is very endearing to me. From your analysis to the explanation, every aspect of it is amazing! Looking forward to your future videos

I came here after watching your video about Blue Period and realizing our anime taste is kinda similar, so I'll recommend "Space Brothers"

I cried so much watching this anime, I think about it and it's message every now and then. Would love to hear your thoughts on the girls' family and found family, as it is such a present theme (besides being the obvious driving point that led Shirase to her own adventure). I recently found your channel and love how you do your videos, it's so relaxing and nice. Also I totally didn't cry again watching this one when the visuals showed them having fun together and crying together.
Keep up your great work, much love!

Thank you for the vid, great script writing. I would aspire to be this good if i ever made video essays myself. I longed for someone else to make a video on this hidden gem.

A Place Further than the Universe was my second favourite anime of 2021 😍 And I watched a ton of series back year, comfortably over a 100. Really happy with this video. Captured everything I loved about A Place Further than the Universe.
You have yourself a sub 🤝🏾

Hi! I really enjoy your video on this and it makes me so emotional again about my own youth and how much this show impacted me!
Just one tiny thing is that for the screenshot of Australia you used around the 3:00 min mark was actualy Singapore since you can see the "Gardens by the Bay" in that shot. The girls go to Singapore and Australia! Sorry for pointing this out if others did as well. Again, amazing video on the show!!

So I've watched this video by accident (praise Algorithm!) since I don't really watch anime outside of Ghibli films, but A Place Further than the Universe is somewhat such a strong title I've had to go here and check out what it is about.
Then I've managed to watch the show itself as well and it made me pack my bag and go out somewhere for a few days.
Thank you very much for making this video.

Its still pains me that underrated anime masterpiece films ( if we nit included sone like a slient voice, your name cuz their popular) Like this, redline, Eat your pancreas, five cenutmeter per second, etc are overshadow by popular ones like demon slayer film, and Didnt get in oscars
Of course popular animes like your name and attack on titan deserve to be popular they masterpiece but underrated ones are just pain

    • @linesinmotion
      @linesinmotion  3 роки тому +1

The Oscars overlook anything that's not animated in the US/UK predominately, there's a lot of good European and other Asian animated films that are definitely worthy of being nominated but the awards don't care, sadly. This anime was popular during its run, but it sadly fell within the seasonal anime issue, in that people forget about it as soon as the next season comes by. I think this show did stand out to many though thankfully!

I've missed this sort of "analytical" anime content where its one person breaking down and sharing their thoughts on a show that used to be so popular across anitube around 2013-2018, but is no longer as prevalent as it was before. Im glad this channel exits.

    • @linesinmotion
      @linesinmotion  3 роки тому

Don't get me wrong, a lot anitubers will cover content that's ongoing or fresh because it's more likely to be better off for views (if it's their job i can completely understand), but that's not really my main goal hah! I just love talking about things i enjoy :')
