I remember she said it took her time to become comfortable performing as a solo artist because since childhood she had a group with her. They carried eachother.
I agree with you, I believe she said omg because she hit the note and was nervous af, she was actually nervous at the entire performance, you can tell in her vocals
This was one of Letoya’s first performances as a solo artist. 16 years ago, she seemed a bit shy and nervous here, but now, she’s grown into her own voice and skin as a solo artist, sounds great, and very confident. So, for those of you comparing her to Beyoncé or Kelly, don’t forget, Letoya was always in the background in DC. Talk about artist development!
This is the first time that I heard her sing. My comment was going to be in time she will develop into a polished singer. Frankly, she has a much better voice than Beyonce.
Everyone knows that every member of DC can sing!!! LeToya admitted that she lost her confidence with her singing ability cause when they called her tone deaf
Can't believe this song dropped 16 years ago, soon to be 17. The same year I was 16 going on 17 years old. Damn, 2006 feels just like yesterday. Where does time go!
I was 21 in 2006 and LeToya was everythang back then💞🎼🔥💯. She was starting to come into her own and I loved it!! Our era in music was unmatched!! And I mean every music genre at that!! 🙌🏽✨🙌🏽💯
This was probably one of first times performing live solo in front of a crowd. Be reminded that it was 6 years since she had been on a stage. I saw her open up for Mary J in 2017 and she kilt her set
The crowd so supportive. Love that. Remember when LeToya used to be so nervous especially as this one of her first times solo live. Glad she's relaxed over the years and got comfortable in her vocal tone. ❤️
Some of you do know, this was one of her first public performances as a solo artist from 16 years ago. LeToya has grown leaps and bounds since then. Her vocals are top knotch at this point and she's gotten very comfortable in her skin as a singer, performer and actress. Yeah I'm going to run Toya's resume down because folks love to critisize and discredit someone without understanding. Toya had to rebuild confidence in herself and her talent. Especially after all that happened with Destiny's Child. Pretty sure her confidence and self esteem took a hit. That's number 1. She also came from a group where she was in the background and not the center. So I'm sure it was hard to be up there by herself with all eyes on her, and people waiting to see what she was going to do. Hence where her anxiety and panic developed from. So she had to get over those things including self doubt first, in order to have the confidence to step out on that stage. So of course her first outing was not going to be to the most polished or vocally flawless performance. It's called artist development. Something that isn't done in this era, but as an artist that's what you do. Keep honing your craft and working so you get better and better at what you do. And that's what she did. Fast-forward to today, Toya has 3 successful R&B albums, her debut being a platinum seller, and a flourishing acting acting career. With two adorable kids to boot and a new series called Leave It To LeToya. She's come a long way since her first days as solo artist singing Torn.
She WON this! And I just love that OMG in the middle of the song after that power note. You know she was feeling it, nerves or whatever, but she conquered this and it just made the performance so real!
I really feel for her here. This is when EVERYTHING was against her. DC lawsuits were up in the air, rumors galore, Beyonce was poppin, and the expectations and comparisons were high and she was performing her own hit single to the world with high expectations to flop, and is doing this in from of a LIVE audience facing her, PLUS she had a shit microphone, with music level pushed to the front barely hearing her!! Well done to her under all of that pressure and stress.
I think people forget about all the rumors surrounding her solo career. Word is that Matthew was applying pressure behind the scenes to sabotage her and there was drama with her and Mary J.
@@kc-qteeapril3395 me too I bought this album mainly off the strength of the single torn I could relate to it at the time after having my own break up.
I really appreciate LeToya Luckett's resilience despite everything that happened with Destiny's Child, she persevered even though she didn't sell many albums. It's true that, largely because of the Destiny's Child affair, she lost her self-confidence and self-esteem ... In Destiny's Child, I'm a big fan of Beyonce, but I also recognise LeToya Luckett's vocal abilities, and after Beyonce in Destiny's Child, LeToya Luckett is the second artist I really like, and she needs to know that she has a lot of fans, so she shouldn't doubt herself any more ... Vocally, not everyone can be Beyonce, but everyone can shine in their own way ... In Destiny's Child, LeToya Luckett didn't want to overshadow Beyonce, she just wanted to shine in her own way, and that wouldn't have stopped Beyonce from becoming the star she is today ...

This was so good! Knowing how nervous she was now I can tell that she was holding back but this wasn’t bad at all!
