- I’m really, really excited by this new official Richard Waters’ waterphone made by Brooks Hubbert. Brooks is an amazing musician and instrument builder who knew and worked with Richard. This new bass waterphone is so very resonant, responsive and expressive! It is a dream to play. For a longer audio demonstration go to:

such a haunting yet beautiful sound..

get one of these suckers. go to a slightly wooded area? maybe close to houses. play the creepiest songs on this at 2 AM. do this every day for years. somebody WILL hear it. talk about it with people. say you heard it.

Waterphone
There's no way this video can feel like anything other than the opening to a really good movie.
Also, this is the greatest instrument ever. Why have I never seen it before now!?

I feel like this could be a part of some pretty amazing pranks... If you're feeling too lazy to come up with something unique and set it up, just hiding in a dark corner behind something while playing one of these glorious things softly and waiting for someone to walk in will do. Bonus points if you also have something that makes a REALLY LOUD NOISE that you can trigger right after they turn on the light.
Legitimately a fantastic haunted house tour or escape room idea
I saw a video were someone was playing the water phone by his son while he was doing a vr game 🤣. The dude was so scared
you be pranking people with dis until an ad pops up then what next xd
You lure them in with this instrument and then when they're close enough, you blow as hard as you can on an Aztec Death Whistle
Bonus points if they're cooking and you just pull one of these on them out of the blue

WaterPhones are what people use in scary movies to make those creepy sounds also it sounds like cave noises.

What I expected: Sounds of a Haunted house
What I got: *"IT'S RAW, YOU DONKEY!"*
This instrument, along with the blaster beam, played a big role in the music score for Star Trek: The Motion Picture by the late, great Jerry Goldsmith.
Would be amazing to use this machine to create music amongst metal music and good vocals! Thankyou for inspiration!
Dokken already did that with their Dream Warriors song!
Since there's already "death metal", perhaps this could be "ghost metal" 🤔
So this made Hannibal...
this sounds like some thing out of a fucking horror game lol
Well, that is the point of the instrument. The sound of fear :)
Can confirm the game part, at least for Monster Hunter 4 Ultiate (Gogmazios theme). That's where I first heard of this instrument.

Came here from Riots post about Pykes sound design. This fits the bloodharbor ripper so well!
Not only does it make creepy as f*&k noises if you brush it slightly, but if you fell down on top of the thing it would frickin impale you grievously. You'd go to the hospital and the first question out of the doctor's mouth would be: "Whoever did this to you...they uh.... didn't follow you here did they"?
Huh?
You’d have to try really hard for it to impale you since the handle in the middle gets in the way.
