    Album - Thanks For Listening
    "Workin' On"
Chasing after that dollar like it’ll slow down my hurry
Settle all my worries when I get it in my wallet
quit dipping’ long enough to own a pair of jeans
That don’t have a ring in the back pocket
Laughing at myself, admitting when I’m wrong
That’s what this gold ol’ boy’s gonna go out workin’ on
    [Chorus:]
Workin’ on coming to Jesus, kicking the bottle,
    Wrestling with our roots,
Trying to turn off Mama’s tears, and feel up Daddy’s boots
Shutting off our pride, fixing bridges we burned, learning how to live and learn
Keeping our demons down and our trucks up and running
Loving them angels sitting pretty in the middle of ‘em
Fighting with the man in the mirror til we gone
Yeah, that’s what all us good ol’ boys gonna go out workin’ on
    Gonna go out workin’ on
Giving more forgiveness, picking battles worth choosing
Little less cussin’ and losin’ my temper and my tools
Dialin’ down my restless, outgrowing my reckless
and my reputation for breaking hearts and rules
Realizin’ what I got what I got before it’s gone
That’s what this good ol boy’s gonna go out
    Workin’ on…
Fighting with the man in the mirror til’ we gone
Yeah, that’s what all us good ol’ boys gonna go out workin’ on
    Gonna go out workin’ on
Owning up to my weakness, keeping it humble but strong
Doin’ the best I can with this flesh and bone
Yeah, that’s what all us good ol’ boys gonna go out workin’ on
    Gonna go out workin’ on
Want more? Request and I shall deliver :D

My dad died two years ago and I held his hand as he died and when all my family left the room I sat there and cried everything I knew was gone and i went into a very deep depression I didn't want to talk to anyone before he died he gave me his truck and told me to fix it and take care of it and when I always think of him I remember all the good things he told me and all the things. And think about all the things I learnt from him.

Even some of who aren’t Christian can embrace the general message.
Better yourself daily, do right by others and pitch in when you can. Don’t throw a fit when things don’t go your way and learn to take a deep breath and start over. It’s a never ending battle and it’s the way I’d like to be remembered.
Prayers and thoughts to you all

You know what I love! This comment section. So many wonderful people telling their story and others comforting and helping them..you don't get this with rap music ...God bless

I disagree. You don't get this with "some rap nowadays." Just found this song last night tho and I love it. And I love the comment section as well

Plenty of communal support and story sharing in comments on songs that hit home no matter the genre. Check out Eminem's channel. You'll find that those of us who listen to him do the same thing there.

I also disagree.. & would like to recommend a song (normaly I don't do this on other musicians videos, respect and everything) by a band mostly rappish, but they are combining their music with rock or pop often.
Epik high - lost one (I think it's mostly Tablo's song, the singer, at least it's what was in his mind because family and ... the song tell's the story. Not I.)
It's not english, but good, very calm & the official video has subtiles to turn on
      Edit: only 'cause I've overseen 2 typos / spelling-mistakes, sry~

My brother served 9 years and it's so hard to see him go through everything he went through on his deployments. I wish I could help but I wont give up on him and I know he will keep working and every soldier has to be strong cause we care about our soldiers not the war bring our men and women home it's time to give that shit hole up and come home.

My grandpa worked in the oil field since he was 15. He grew up in the Great Depression. He was 61 one when cancer made him quit. He died 5 months later. I remember at his funeral and hearing every one their telling us how he lifted up a truck engine and put it on a table in their workshop. He was incredibly strong. Had them oil field hands. He gave me his wedding ring to use for when I get married and damn do I have some space. His fingers where the size of the handle of a baseball bat. Miss ya grandpa Charlie. Love ya

I listen to this song when I need a reminder. I have 3 children, none biologically mine. I didn't want to be a mom. I didn't think I'd make a good one. But I loved my husband, and them. Their mom stepped out years ago, so I stepped up. Everything goes to them. 70 hour weeks at work, broken bones, dog bit, blistered hands and gashes. When I'm in my head, or overwhelmed, this song makes me get my shit together.

The part about the Mama and Daddy, is really true about my family. And it sucks when you know whats happening. But it happened when I was 5 and didn't know what was happening. And trying not to cry everytime you think about it.

Do be so quick to die like they did. I dont mean it in a mean way, but our govt is not what you think. Neither is war, most vets come backif they made fucked up in the head bc they had to take orders. Living with following those orders effects them for a lifetime, and for what? To be shuned and become outcast of a nation you killed. Dont throw your body upon the gears of the military industrial complex bc of pride. U have a misunderstanding and really need to think about it.

Not long ago my mom lost her sister due to mental illness, my dad left her for someone after finding out he has a 12yr old son he claimed he didn’t know about, and recently she was diagnosed with breast cancer, I’ve been trying to suppor my mom through all of it and this song is spot on “Workin’ on coming to jesus, trying to turn off Mama’s tears, and fill up Daddy’s boots” 🙏

This song hits home! I'm a recovering from alcoholism and I remember my kids asking if I'm staying for supper! I still fight with myself every morning "go to work or say f*** it and get drunk"
