CNC ROUTER BUILD | EPISODE 2 | THE FRAME

- Assembling a large CNC router frame that I scored off the internet. The frame is made from 80/20 aluminum extrusions so I was able to use the pieces that I had available to create a custom frame. Once I had the frame setup, it was easy to connect the electronics I built in the previous video and get the motors moving. The goal is to eventually set up this machine for shaping surfboards.

SWEET! Looks Great Buddy!!
I like this design, I was thinking about this actually the double row make stiffer I think. I was thinking to go this route for mine also. but maybe it needs another aluminium profile half way to stiff it up even more.
Hey Mikael, Yes agreed! It was a little bit flexible in the middle like this. I've added one more leg half way down each side of the y-axis and it seems to have done the trick. The third contact point with the ground right in the middle of the frame really stiffened everything up.
@@reeces_shredlab great !
Plz can you explain about the connection
Hi! Which connections are you wondering about?
Hi, thanks for share, why does it use two motors for the Y axis?
I was thinking I would use two motors for the Y axis to share the load of moving the whole machine. The X and Z axis are just moving small pieces of the frame where the Y is moving almost all of the frame. I ended up using only one motor on the Y in the end, but it's a more powerful motor.
@@reeces_shredlab thanks a los for your response :)
Any updates?
I've been posting updates in my "CNC Board Shaping Machine" playlist. A little more focused on dialing the machine in for board shaping than electronics and framebuilding.
