OH MY GOODNESS! I have been saving to buy my first food trailer and start a vegan food truck!!! It is my biggest dream. I am so freaking proud of you and love to see this. Can't wait and thanks for this video :)
The only fly in the ointment is how much weight you added to the chassis. The frame and possibly the axle and tires on these tent campers can be pretty flimsy. So tow that thing like it's carrying glass sculpture to a museum. I bet this is a lot cheaper and less work than buying a used food truck or converting a panel truck.
Oh, trust me I thought about that a lot. I was so scared to drive it after it was completed. But it's been fine. Driven 90 miles to Florida Beach no issues. But I take my time for sure. No speeding lol.

I don’t know a lot if I’m honest. I’m new to this business. But I do know to change 4x what it cost to buy the food. For example if it cost you $2 to make a plate. You want to sell it for $8 or more. I’m open Wednesday - Saturday. Keep in mind I’m in a small town with only 60k people my busiest days is Saturday. I don’t always make the same money each week or month. Some months can be slower because of other factors like if the fair is in town or there’s some big events going on. My slowest months were December and January. It’s hard work. You have to really want this and enjoy food etc. otherwise it will be hard for you and you’ll not find much joy in the business. Good luck.
I am looking into building out my own food trailer. A few questions; 1. Seems like most of the outer shell is just plywood? Is there any concern of leaks? Rotting? I don't know too much about any of this, but I did have some plywood sitting behind a shed at my house that completely warped and deteriorated. 2. Is the three bay sink behind the fridge (ie not really accessible) enough to hit code? I would've thought not, but if all you need is for it to be on site, that gives me some idea on how to use the space that is otherwise inconvenient and unusable just to meet code (there wouldn't be any dishwashing happening on site anyway). 3. Were there any challenges with getting everything up to code? What resources did you use to make sure your health inspection went off without a hitch (sounds like it did anyway)? Congrats on the build. You have a lot to be proud of.
Yes it’s just plywood for the exterior walls. But I sealed them with a weather primer and a weather shield paint but there’s no leaks as of yet. 2. The sink is hidden by the fridge because I don’t use it and the health department knows it. They require us to have them whether we use them or not. I wash my dishes at commercial kitchen. So it’s a waste of space they require regardless. 3. No it wasn’t hard because I spoke with them and found out what they require. Here in Alabama they only require the 3 compartment sinks and the separate hand washing sink. That’s it. They don’t care about anything else. Every state and possibly county will have different requirements on it.
This video caught my eye because I too am working on a food truck plan and I just bought a pop up camper like yours for $600! Question though, I was under the impression all food trucks had to have all wood covered by stainless steel for sanatory reasons.
I am very impressed by your repurpose of the popup camper - That looks amazing no question My only concern is, with it being 2x4 & 1/4in ply... is it going to stand up to transporting with out getting rickety? Again, not downplaying your craftsmanship - Just genuinely curious. Seems like a very cheap way to start a food truck, which... I am digging :D Again, amazing work - Inspires.
So far everything is still solid. I’ve driven it about 90 miles. Trust me I think about that too. I will definitely let you guys know if anything changes. Thanks for watching.
your success I love it. I’m still deciding if I want to to open a small cafe or food truck. I had a restaurant in NYC for 10 years I’m now in Ga and not sure if I want to go down that road again, I want something super simple. so to answer your question I’m still doing the research lol
If you're looking for a simple business idea, I suggest starting a food trailer route. You have the flexibility to choose when to open, there is very little overhead cost, and you can even travel to special events if you'd like. I used to dream of owning a full-service restaurant, but now I realize the amount of money and stress involved. By the way, where in Georgia are you located?
Yessss very simple and compact you can give it so much attention without the city in your face !! ( it’s a headache ) I’m really still deciding what I wanna do maybe in another 2-4 years I travel ALL time right now. I’m in Buford near Lake Lanier. My family is from Anniston and Gaston. a very small town too small for me lol
You might enjoy the simplicity of running a food truck. My advice to you would be to sell food that you love preparing while keeping the menu simple. I had to reduce some items on my menu a few times. Lol I know that area in Georgia. I used to reside near the Latino neighborhood on Buford Highway back when Atlanta was still considered to be affordable.
Great job brotha this made me happy seeing your dreams come true and your work is paying off God bless ya Man I'll keep ya I my prayers!! P.S you should add a service counter on your sliding window like a stainless steel one would dope Asf bro keep us updated Your build Is Clean Asf Great Job!!!!
Very inspirational, brother. I'm really glad you're doing vegan food. I've been vegan for over 30 years. On my food trailer I do vegan smoothies. I've been thinking of adding some sandwiches. Holler at me at me when you can.

Some states do require stainless steel. My state doesn’t have that requirement. Contact your local health department and ask them.
Congrats, proud of you 💟☮️
💚

How you been friend? Are you still in your van?

Thanks a lot 😊
I am very impressed by your repurpose of the popup camper - That looks amazing no question
My only concern is, with it being 2x4 & 1/4in ply... is it going to stand up to transporting with out getting rickety?
Again, not downplaying your craftsmanship - Just genuinely curious.
Seems like a very cheap way to start a food truck, which... I am digging :D
Again, amazing work - Inspires.
Lol
I know that area in Georgia. I used to reside near the Latino neighborhood on Buford Highway back when Atlanta was still considered to be affordable.
If you don’t mind me asking where did you your decal from?
I don’t mind. My friend makes them on Etsy. I had the logo designed on fiverr.
Thank you! I plan to do a few upgrades. I appreciate your support and positive feedback.
This is awesome, not sure if this has been asked yet or not but how do u access the 3 bowl sink ? Do you have to pull the fridge out of the way ?
Thanks. Yes, I would. However, I never used that sink. It is just a requirement to follow. But I never once washed dishes on my truck. 😁
Bro you dope congratulations motivation thank you
Thank you my brother!
Amazing job!
I appreciate you!
This is incredible 👏👏👏
Thank you 💚
Dope congratulations
Thanks 💯
Impressive. I believe in you... Sky is the limit.❤
😍
Fantastic #FoodTruck conversion 🧡
Thank you 🙏🏾
Very inspirational, brother. I'm really glad you're doing vegan food. I've been vegan for over 30 years. On my food trailer I do vegan smoothies. I've been thinking of adding some sandwiches. Holler at me at me when you can.
Good stuff! I’m sure that would be an easy add on. I started with vegan soul food but now just burgers and sandwiches because of food cost and waste.
This is amazing. Where did you have vinyl wrap done at
Etsy, I prefer to support another small business. Thanks.
Very Inspiring!
Perfect 👍🏾
Looks crazy nice🎉
Thank you for saying that 👍🏾
