Being a NASCAR fan all my life I remember when Ambrose came into the sport with a lot of hype. I was too young (13 years old) to know what Supercars were at the time in 2006. Ambrose was amazing in NASCAR on road courses and these classic Supercars races are a great example as to why that was the case. Thank you for putting these classic races on UA-cam. Cheers.
Something I had never noticed before. Ambrose's left shoulder belt is not clipped in straight after his crash. 5:37:32 you can see it over the left shoulder support of the seat. On lap 122 after the pit for the balaclava, it was.

One of my favourite Bathurst 1000 of all time. Thanks for uploading it.
As an American I have always loved super cars when since I discovered them. Some of the best road racers out there. I was always impressed by how hard Ambrose could drive.
2005 Bathurst, finally. It takes it's time, but the race is finally here. It also seems that the week-end are primarily dedicated to Bathurst, which is nice.
Thank you so very much for uploading these races for us to enjoy all over again. Bathurst weekend is my Christmas, look forward to it every year. Love watching past races.....brings back so many memories!!!!!
Ambrose was behind and got a better run off the corner and thought he could pass round the outside into the cutting. Stupid move and it cost him the championship. Should have just thought about points. He ended up with ZERO. Ingall got a 5th place with a destroyed car and only 6 cars finished on the lead lap.
@@AlonsoRules I mean, he was probably thinking the championship, but he didn't have a Bathurst win and he was going to Nascar the year after. I don't blame Ambrose for going all in, he probably think that it was going to be his last opportunity to win it.
my favourite era of the v8 supercars. In particular love the look of the falcs but even the commodores look awesome. So much cooler than the current crop in my opinion.
Yes, apart from the verbal spat between Ambrose and Murphy there were some other exciting moments like Paul Dumbrell's left front wheel that speared into the windshield of Lowndes's car and the HRT Commodore battling against Jason Richards for the remainder of the race.
As a "Colonist" that didn't have access to this race at the time, I find it fascinating that Crompo made, what is reported in his book, as his first "big impression" as a Broadcaster and Jamie made what is certainly one of his first "big impressions" as a Driver. Fitting that they are now both in the Supercars HOF!
Glad this races are UA-cam, this series is awesome, learned about it from Marcos Ambrose when he drove the 9 in nascar, very thankful to the UA-cam admin lmao
Man when that wheel from 24 car went flying and into the windshield of the 888 car, caved it in though. I remember watching that happen live, I'm glad it wasn't on the driver side, that could have been a helluva lot worse.
After 3 years it was great to see the rules FINALLY be applied to Ambrose. I was 17 and having a couple of beers with my old man that day, I’d never seen dad stand up and cheer the way that he did when they did marcos over for the balaclava. He could not STAND the man
After watching that little grub do it to everyone else all year long those words were soooo soo soothing to hear… Murphys no saint either, but that year really exposed Ambrose and his true colours… very satisfying to hear/see him get a taste of his own medicine
All I can say is that if you're going to put a 6+ hour race on UA-cam, maybe don't set it to run an ad - often unskippable - literally every 5 minutes. Totally unwatchable unfortunately and not a problem on other Bathurst full races that have been uploaded. So I'm guessing someone forgot to tweak the ad settings here.
@@Ade067 I have one on my laptop. But not on my TV/PS4 because I actually don't mind ads if it's for content creators I want to support. Hell I wouldn't even mind an ad every so often in this video. Just not one every 5 mins 😂
The video evidence is as clear as it gets, Ambrose chose a line as if Murphy wasn't there. Murph can't go driving into the inside barrier to make the turn. Given Ambrose is in the process of overtaking - its his screw up - there is not any duty of care to just give up your position because someone is trying to overtake you. To overtake here you have to have such an overspeed exiting Griffin's as to completely clear the car easily, you can't overtake side by side round the outside in turn 3 before the cutting. That's just an indisputable fact of science. And both Murphy and Ambrose knew that, Ambrose would not succeed at that pace and would have to pull in behind him again before the cutting. Ambrose chose to take a line he wasn't entitled to and that was that, 7 races over because some asshole can't handle coming 6th. Still to this day thinks he was right, Ambrose would - the idiot thinks he's so much better than everyone else but the moment he didn't have the best car he was nowhere. Put him in choke plate racing with real parity and driver skill and look at how great he is: 2 wins in 227 races over 7 years. Just an egomaniac.
Ambrose achieved more than Murphy in V8 Supercars in alot shorter period, for a sport that struggles with overtakes Murphy couldnt handle being overtaken
if a leading holdn team didn't have a baliclava on they'd just get a small fine, ford racing is harder, avesco has shares in Holden, this race competition is a beat up on Ford , it's set up so Holden will win, and when ford's starts dominating them they change everything, I've been watching this for decades that's what they always do, obviously if they played fair Ford would destroy them, what if ford had twice as many cars in the field like Holden always has,? and all the best drivers and teams????? and if Holden starts winning the whole thing changes,
I’d love to see a comparison - race car at full roar v a street car obeying the speed limit - where would the car be on track when race car does one lap
Sad to see car 1 end the day like that! IF ( a BIG IF ) Marcos Ambrose had been wearing his balaclava earlier this incident would NOT have happened because they had two stops because of Luff/Ambrose balaclava maybe Luff was not wearing it ( i do not know ) but the car would have been further up the road so this Big accident Murphy/Ambrose would not have happened. As far as i know until very recently Stone Brothers Racing still owned car 9 and car 1. 😒
