  • Many people believe that high temperature firing is very resource intensive. However, Eco-friendly wood firing does not produce clouds of black smoke. This technique uses a third less wood
And can quickly and easily achieve temperatures of over 1300 degrees. High temperature wood firing is a new direction for human civilization. There is still a huge realm here to be explored.

This is really amazing, I love how encouraging he is about sharing the knowledge other ceramicists, no gatekeepy stuff, purely driven by the passion he has. Even at the start of the video I knew this was a unique method, but the stuff about the mother glaze blew me away, made me kind of emotional seeing a new discovery that moves away from the modern limitations of electric kilns. Really really incredible.

That's a big chimney drawing lots of air. Perhaps that is his secret weapon

this is interesting and i wish he shared the design of the kiln

There is not a lot of real information there.
What would make sense to try:
    - post-combustion (introduce air in a chamber after the pot’s chamber)
    - pre-heat intake air with the post-combustion/chimney heat
    - super insulate the whole kiln
    - manage the fuel/air mixture as to have better efficiency while keeping a reduction atmosphere

Helo :) Thank you very much for sharing this! I'm designing a smokless kiln but I'm not sure if it's going to work perfectly. Do you maybe have plans of you oven that you can share or can I share my plans with you to know your opinion? That would be wonderful. Huge hug

I can't understand how burning 3 tons of wood is considered eco-friendly in any way.

Many greetings - how can I contact with Master Lin Rui-hua - I have little bit experience to share with saving wood in woodfireing cerqamics. Best regards

Could not disagree more about the "mother glaze" All the subtleties of the interaction of hand on clay surface eroded away and those images are greatly magnified .He can achieve 1200 degrees with 3 tons of wood when other people need 5 tons ...for what capacity kiln ,with a bourry box I can achieve 1320c with less than 1 ton it is two chambers about 30cu ft .He does have great control of his kiln and the firing process but he shares no actual information of the kiln design . The science behind the combustion process is common knowledge nothing new there . If he believes he has something new on eco friendly wood firing he should share the information so others could reduce consumption of wood in their firings

theres nothing new about secondary combustion. Top end domestic woodburning stoves ustilise it, and the most efficient steam train boilers used it too
