Wait, does that mean the company has shut down? That's pretty sad, as sad as the company who created Visions of Mana shutting down instantly after the game released. :(
No, they have film and other divisions. This team just wanted to be spun off into an independent studio, and when Annapurna founder said no, they just quit and formed a completely independent studio. Annapurna has already promised to bring in people to complete all current contracts and to rebuild their video games division. Sounds like they will be fine. Might just take a little bit of time to rebuild their gaming division. Hopefully those who quit will do well with the studio they choose to make. 😊
The idea that metacritic scores might be too influential has been a thing for 15 years ever since Obsidian had their bonuses withheld because of the score New Vegas received.
Look at Yoko Taro. He makes very artistic, almost burdening games to get through at points. (For story reasons), but he finally broke into the mainstream. He's my dude. Lol
I think Suda 51's take on metacritic has actually been slightly misinterpreted here. I think he's actually talking about how games media trends effect scores. For example Elden Ring (rightfully) received 10's across the board a few years ago, however From Software had been making 10s for over a decade. Back in 2011, when you look at what the first Dark Souls was, for the time it released that game was beyond a 10 and was a flat out masterpeice, yet critics only felt comfortable giving it 8's and 9's because those types of games were not as popular back then. When it comes to reviews its all about flavour of the week (or month, or year), which is actually exactly why Blesssing's example of a game like Thank Goodness, Youre Here has a 90 on Metacritic, because people in the media were literally running onto each others podcasts and telling them that they had to play that game.
The reason they were explaining who was Mandy Moore is because how Barrett said "Who is Mandy Moore" It threw me at first. But then realized he meant which character did she voice in the movie.
Yeah, those people are not coming back and given that 1000s of game devs and front office people have been getting laid off there is probably many resumes flooding in.
Can someone explain to me briefly what the difference between the development and publishing branch was? Like, how many of these people were (or did work) directly on stray, cocoon, and the upcoming titles from their recent showcase?
@@MikeAvoo Right so who were these people then if Annapurna didn't develop games, was it just a publishing staff? Sometimes publishers help in a small way towards development
I love Barrett i really do, but please for the love of jesus stop interrupting. Bless and Tim will be flowing and boss baby just cuts in with his opinion. Tim is saying when he'll get to play i am your beast and barret just pops in saying that he won't until november. No one asked, and it killed the flow of the conversation. Barrett aces it in the production gallery, it's just jarring having a 3rd unannounced person just pop in, especially for audio listener's. Either announce him as a 3rd host, or only pop in when called upon. 10:18 Just talks over Bless to talk of own experience. Sorry for the negativity.
He just IS the third host. He's a personality who's on the desk for plenty of shows. Your brain is literally telling you that because he's not physically at the desk he's supposed to pretend he's not there. There's literally no reason for him to not interject like he's the third guy sitting at the desk beyond just the rules you've made up in your head. You're saying that you wouldn't have said any of this if at the very beginning they just said "and Barrett Courtney on the board". That's what you're saying? Cause if that's what you're saying that's all you had to say.
I say as just another watcher of their content like this guy is, fuck all that. I love when Barrett or Kevin or soon to be Roger add to a conversation from the control booth and they should do it as often as they want.
Grasshopper' CEO thinks people give too much importance to Meta Critic? Seems like something someone who wants to prove a point and create a parody account named Meta Cricket would say.. I think we found our guy, the cricket himself
annapurna interactive has zero important or good games. So it's not surprising that they all wanted to move on. I hope they all find a spot where they can all make actual good games.
Kinda badass they all walked out together 😂
Isn't funny though
@@InnerRise kinda funny
Solidarity is a beautiful thing
I don't know that I've ever heard of a story like the Annapurna story. Wild.

@@cj_skywalker no, they’re just not operating with any staff, apparently

@@randalladkins7452 has the new studio been confirmed? That's pretty quick to form a studio.
Immortals of Aveum is criminally underrated. In another universe, it sold millions of copies. Glad to see that team back together on another project!
I need a whole series of Blessing telling me scenes of movies he hasn't seen, that Titanic description was the best thing I've heard all week.
Our country is cooked bois. Completely lost to greed

Nice of you to catch up to the last couple hundred years....

Thank goodness Mixtape, Control 2 etc won't be affected - the Annapurna Bladerunner game is probably screwed tho.
About time that we remember "monke strong together".
Rich people only have power, if we let them have it.

I hope Mixtape is able to be saved and finished at some point.

Shout to Benny B Good for the Game Showdown spoiler.
Have to appreciate the Fort Minor shirt.
Time stamps please
Tim, stop spoiling Titanic for Blessing. Just do James Cameron In Review so he has to watch it!

You're right but the KF defenders don't like when you have any criticism for the content or hosts.
“This game fucks” nah… don’t like that…
Blessing clearly needs to watch Titanic, it was the biggest theatrical event of the 90s the film was in theaters for 10 months straight.
So they fire to rehire so they can continue making games? Just reduce salaries and keep your workforce if you must cut costs
