Volk should take 12 months off... recover and get his head and chin back in the game
1-3 is a little disingenuous and not indicative of his skill set. I like many thought he beat Islam, and that’s the lightweight champion who is an absolute monster.
The only concern was the way he was finished then jumped back in quickly against a power puncher entering his prime.

I think the Volkanovski rematch is what's needed. I don't think Mosvar has enough juice at the moment that the UFC will want to give him that shot just yet---Alex is only getting older and based on what's he's accomplished at 145lbs, I'd say it's the best choice for now. If Topuria can beat Volk again, then he's ready to be shot to the moon to the point where it doesn't matter who he fights next--People will be interested.
I completely disagree, it wasn't like volk was bad out there. When peirera knocked out izzy it was after being dominating for 4 rounds. The best case for volk it to fight someone like movsar or the Brian ortega if he wins.
@@saif_a Volk is not getting any younger though. Izzy fights at a higher weight class where Father Time arrives a bit later. Plus, unlike Izzy, Volk never had a moment where he almost finished Topuria. Whether he fights Ilia or someone else, he really needs to win the next fight. His confidence is already at an all time low, and we know confidence is everything in this game.
@@Edward-ki9vghe's not gonna win going straight back in with Topuria maybe stick him in with Arnold Allen. Yes volk is getting old but he does need a break
Ortega isn't active enough & is on a L streak, a single W over Yair shouldn't get him a title shot. Yair's last fight waa a title fight L last July where he was finished & a single W over Ortega shouldn't get him another title shot less than a year later bc he already beat Ortega to get the Interim title fight last year & can't get another title shot from beating Ortega again who is still on L streak, inactive & his last fight was the L to Yair. They're not former champs & their activity & resumès do no warrant special consideration.
I don't know what some you are smoking but the doubting of Topuria after that performance is crazy. And no, I don't think Yair or Max match up favorably against Ilia. Yair has no TDD and his boxing is sus. Max is much more hittable than Volk, doesn't check kicks well, will either go through a war with or get KO'd by Gaethje, and he can't use TDs to steal a round because Ilia's grappling is good as well. Ilia is not unbeatable at all but he's clearly elite and his skill set needs to be respected. He's only getting better each time as well
Evloev or Holloway next. Ortega and Rodriguez have had their title shots and fumbled them, fighting each other just proves who's fourth best. Love to see Holloway get another shot next.

Volk needs to take a year out. He shouldn't go back in with Topuria straight away
Would be incredible if max beats justin (cant see it) then comes back down with the BMF title and they face off for both belts.

Personal opinion, Yair is all wrong for Ilia. Styles make fights and Volk was showing something with those kicks in round 1. Herbert dropped him with kicks in that fight. Yair with the teep kicks up the middle, crazy fast quest mark kicks and all that is probably his hardest style match up, so if they matched them I’d be more than happy with that.

Yair has negative takedown defense, even Max who isn't a great wrestler took him down. Ilia is a much better grappler and will most likely beat Yair to a pulp much like Volk and Frankie did. Yair's boxing is also not great.
@@Edward-ki9vg his takedown defence could be better, 100%. But it’s his versatility that does it for me man. If anyone is going to throw something crazy and put Ilia out it’s going to be him. Not to mention how Ilia got dropped by Herbert. If Yair hits you with that same kick your head comes off.
@@slamduncproductions3198 Tbf the fight with Herbert was at 155 and Ilia recovered pretty fast and immediately grappled. If Yair gets taken down, it's game over I believe. Plus, kicks make you more prone to TDs as well. Anyone can get knocked out but Yair couldn't do it against Volk and he does not have a lot of headkick KO's on his record. In my opinion, Allen or Evloev have a better chance than Yair although I'd still favor the champ after that performance.
Styles make fights. Max, Arnold and Yair all match up very nicely against Ilia. Yair would beat him 50-45 on all 3 scorecards.
Holloway next up (if put in's a decent performance at UFC 300)

Makhachev is way too big for him I think. Defend the featherweight title at least once before moving up anyway.

@@insertgenericusernamehere2402 the issue is if max gets knocked out or takes a lot of damage from Justin which is likely then it's another great but damaged fighter going in with Topuria imagine he finishes off both volk then max. Is that what we want to see?
@@Dukestboy96 we'll see bro...max has one of the most insane chins in all of MMA. If he doesn't get the next shot it's likely to be Movsar Evloev and that would be a fun one.
@@insertgenericusernamehere2402 I'm not too interested in Evloev and yes max has a great chin but changing up and down between weights has rarely worked out for fighters. Justin can definitely put a dent in that chin after taking his legs out, I love max but you can't act like you aren't concerned for him
