I never would’ve thought that 2 Brazilians… Alex an Olivera, that don’t speak English (or very little) would be a couple of my favorite fighters. sometimes I forget how good Ariel is at interviewing some of his interviews get really stale and standard but some of them are just as good as it gets, which makes sense because the guy's been interviewing fighters for more than a decade now
Why do fans connect with Alex more than other fighters? A few reasons. 1. He came in with a story that connected him to a big name. The connection to Adesanya was a big boost that pushed him into the limelight, and created intrigue around him. How good was he really? Could he beat Izzy in MMA? Could he do what Izzy couldn't and get the LHW strap, etc, etc. 2. His fights deliver. You know when you see Alex Pereira is in the cage fireworks are going to go off. 3. Once fans got to know his own personal story better, then you can't help but respect what the man's gone through. The poverty, working from a young age, battle alcoholism, kickboxing, etc. 4. The guy is just a beast. You look at him, and anyone can see the man is different. It's one thing to know somebody is a fighting champion, but when you see Alex Pereira the average person instinctually goes "oh, this guy is not to be messed with." 5. He's respectful. In a social media age where fighters trash talk and get into all kinds of nonsense, Pereira is a stoic, down-to-business figure. He might not become best friends with his opponents or anything, but you can see he respects them, and they respect him as well. Even his biggest rival Adesanya has no issues saying that Alex is a special person, and even his boasting that the other middleweights should thank him is underpinned by how much everyone respects Pereira's abilities. Yet Alex doesn't take himself too seriously, and is fine with going along with the jokes and memes.

it’s mostly the language barrier tbh. a lot of non-american fighters have great personalities when they get to speak in their native language. topuria was asked in spanish about meditation and he responded with how a ship without a lighthouse will never find its way or something. but in english topuria just kinda sounds like a cocky loudmouth. these guys aren’t given credit mostly because they’re not really given the opportunity to showcase themselves and the way they think

@@Fillegubbenall it takes it's a punch, brother. I'm not saying that Pereira would win, but you're acting as if Jones is untouchable.
Pereira is definitely better than Reyes and Thiago.
@@jayn6943 Anything can happen in MMA, I agree. Jones has never even been seriously rocked, and look at what happened on the ground in Alex vs Adesanya, or Alex vs Jan, that wouldn't end well for basically anyone versus Jones. Would be boring if the discussion just ended at "puncher's chance"
Alex is best thing thats happened to the UFC in a long while
Plínio is getting better and better in translating Alex... In his early days translating Alex he used to miss somethings, but today I have to say he did an incredible job. His best performance so far, someone give the night bonus to the man
I love when he came out in his native gear. Dude is wwe but a real fighter. Pointing the bow. My guy knew how to get people hyped
How does anyone not love Alex. What an incredible Human. For one of the most brutal and deadly fighters he has an unbelievable amount of empathy. Would love to see his be the first Triple Champ. Fan for ever!
seamless translation, great work
Look at the size of his hands & Knuckles 😭 dude is a beast
Yeah wow... seeing his hands in comparison to the coach 😳
@@nme_mmaJoe Rogan always tallked about the size of Alex hands its crazy lmao definitely helps wth his power aswell
Epic stare down with Jiri
The greatest ufc stare down
With Ariel too. Dude is staring him down 80% of the interview😂
Izzy was actually the first to say he looked like an Easter Island statue in an interview after the first MMA fight. He said he should be called 'head of stone' rather than 'stone hands' (='Poatan') because he was tough or something
I love how he really just wants to learn from fighters and teach them even after a intense rivalry
His kickboxing is art
At first I was annoyed the UFC kept bringing fighters in an giving them a fast track to a title shot (first Chandler then Alex). But after he beat Izzy I became a big fan. Winning the light heavyweight belt has easily put him in my current top 5. Nobody can deny his fights are entertaining. I never would’ve thought that 2 Brazilians… Alex an Olivera, that don’t speak English (or very little) would be a couple of my favorite fighters. Their fights are always exciting no matter if they win or lose! An they are both the definition of bout it!! Love his loyalty to Strickland. An his translator doesn’t leave you feeling like he left so much out. That translator seems to be on point.
I have really grown to like Alex. He's so humble and workman like. The UFC is lucky to have him.
Alex's eye contact must be a wild thing to experience
U must be an ice cream because the glaze is real
The first time I genuinely felt a decent amount of heartbreak after someone lost, especially a ko loss is when Gyno koed my guy alex here.
Alex is the man!!! Great interview too, thanks Ariel
sometimes I forget how good Ariel is at interviewing
some of his interviews get really stale and standard but some of them are just as good as it gets, which makes sense because the guy's been interviewing fighters for more than a decade now
Alex’s career is so crazy when you step back and think about it it’s almost not real
Fr , being double champ in two sports is no joke
Alex is a beast the best thing that happened to the ufc last 2 years
maybe even in the last 6-7 years
He's such a phenomenal guy and I dont see any reason to unlike him in the future. 🤘
I hope the UFC is paying this man well. He’s one of their biggest stars.
He just signed another 8 fight contracts. probably for like 8 millions LOL. Plus he can get PPV points as well as bonus
New ufc 5 dlc legendary fighter: Poatan with hair
He will shave it before his next fight. I think it’s a preparation thing
@@seanmower3926he does it to raise his intimidation stat by 10%.
The 7th layer no less.
The quiet, calm, complete confidence of being a complete killing machine.
That's not where his confidence come from
Why do fans connect with Alex more than other fighters?
It's one thing to know somebody is a fighting champion, but when you see Alex Pereira the average person instinctually goes "oh, this guy is not to be messed with."
Him wanting to fight at Heavyweight is so badass.
Really cool he came on the show and not just a video call . Poatan 🗿👊🏽is my favorite Fighter
alex is genuinely one of the best things to happen to the ufc in a while, amazing personality and even better skills n HES ACTIVE ASF
it's amazing how Alex even without speak so much he can connect with people. amazing guy!!
way bigger of a superstar than O Malley lmao Alex interview literally already has like 100k more views than O Malleys and he doesnt even speak 1 word of English
Win or lose Alex is one of my favorite fighters, he is authentic and that is the reason why people love him
Adesanya in some pub: I already beat that guy.
The fish dies by its mouth. Hehehehe
Never seen Alex so fleshed out in the face. He's gotta be about 250 in this interview. He looks extremely healthy and hydrated.
Did you listen he weights exactly 235
He should move up to HW
104 kg
15:01 He said he was 104-105 Kg right now. That's 229-231.4 lbs
He is like 225-230 pounds
That was really nice to watch! Cheers from Brazil!
I just know Jamal Hill is seated somewhere with his purple lights watching this and pausing it over and over just to counter everyword alex is saying here😂😂😂
Not going to lie as an OG hill fan before he came champion, Jamahal is next level petty lmao, Hill is very knowledgable and intelligent about the fight game but he is sensitive asf. Bro is on the verge of insanity.
@@JT76912fr Jamahal sadly lost his mind I guess his injury was a big reason for that
Best fighter and coolest human in UFC history.
Orders of magnitude above Steroid Jones.
Alex and Ngannou share the same reason why people are drawn to them and it's that they are real, they don't need to make noise to show how determined they are it screams through their energy and actions, this dude is more intelligent than the commentators give him, the way he fights is amazing
it’s mostly the language barrier tbh. a lot of non-american fighters have great personalities when they get to speak in their native language. topuria was asked in spanish about meditation and he responded with how a ship without a lighthouse will never find its way or something. but in english topuria just kinda sounds like a cocky loudmouth. these guys aren’t given credit mostly because they’re not really given the opportunity to showcase themselves and the way they think
Been following him since his Glory Kickboxing days. He was immediately my favorite fighter when i saw him back then. Glad to see how far he's going.
Alex is the most chill laid back murder iv ever seen 😂
Alex is one of my favorite fighters just from what he's been able to accomplish in a short amount of time.
Ngl I normally could care less for a champion that can’t speak English, like it sounds bad for me to say but I just can’t get invested, but Alex made a rep for not even talking and it’s perfect
Alex is the only person I’d sit here and listen to someone translate for a hour
If he defends at 300 and 301 they cant argue he's the greatest combat sporte athlete
He already is when it comes to Combat Sports.
People are just reluctant when it comes to simply MMA
Alex is a beast
Ever since he let strickland train with him, hes become my fav 205'r
And judging by what he said here he would refuse to fight Strickland if UFC offered. Very old school. That's how it used to be in Brazil
@@jayn6943just class and after training with Sean Sean suddenly had the best striking defense in the UFC, first fight a TKO next fight he schooled Izzy lmao Sean even said that Alex showed him shitty his footwork was
Alex is going to be focused on darts for a while now
Poatan, brabo demais!
Alex represents a fighting spirit and Alex is like a blank slate for people to attribute their personalities
Good interview, can not hate on Alex at all. He comes off as a great person in the fight game.
Everything he does is so compelling to me. Alex is awesome.
Chama!
Double champ in Glory, pulled himself out the gutter, then double champ in the UFC. Poatan my GOAT. Chama 🗿
Bro DOES NOT stop looking at Ariel LMAO
He's disgusted by him
This guy is an example of how a champion behaves. What stands out is that he doesn't swear.
The GOAT Ariel putting up a banger Interview again and again
Hate that he really is a GOAT but his prissy attitude is so off putting
Not sure Ratwani is GOAT status.
I can't believe I sat patiently and watched the whole interview. Entertaining and interesting!
As a Brazilian I would say that Plínio is a badass Translator, sharpy.
