    No terrariums. No myths. No nonsense. Get the straight facts from guys who grow and propagate thousands of carnivorous plants every year, since 1995.

    Really one of the good guys. Anyone like us that care and spend our lives trying to keep plants alive can relate, especially those plants from all over the world, African desert to jungle moist. We need to study and learn from every access point to keep them alive. Thanks

      We won't be there this month since we're booked for a private event. We're not certain if we'd be there in January as well for a variety of factors. But, we'll be here on Labor Day weekend!

    These monthly care videos are awesome! They're really helpful and have prepared me in terms of what to expect.
    I have a quick question about repotting/dividing VFTs and Sarracenias though. I understand this is best done in early spring when the plants are just waking up, but I have a VFT that I have somewhat neglected for a while and is outgrowing it's pot. What harm would there be in repotting and dividing now before it gets colder and before the plants start to go dormant?

      Thank you for watching. Sorry for the long delay in responding. We've been traveling. Watch our video on repotting during mid-season. As for dividing, wait until late winter or early spring. This will give the plant more time to recover from the damage and root disturbance before they go dormant.

    How to make a fly trap big? Will it grow big in a big pot or are they a small plant regardless

    • @SarraceniaNorthwest
      @SarraceniaNorthwest  Місяць тому

      Thank you for subscribing! Size is relative, and I'm not certain what you mean by "large." Most varieties of flytraps grow to only 5 inches tall with only 1-inch traps. Others are shorter. Traps max out at 2 inches, even with so-called giant forms.

      @@SarraceniaNorthwest I mean the diameter of the plant if I have a 8 inch diameter pot will I have a bigger diameter of growing fly traps from the center or is the 3 inch diameter pot that most traps you buy come in as big around as one plant is, do they spread out

      Thank you for watching. The rule of thumb is to cut off any pitchers when you can't stand looking at it. We'll cover this in September's video.
