yea it's the people coming together that gives the energy not just the info presented. The crowd gives energy even though watching them at a coffee shop.
Why haven't we got any updates on Homesceeen Widgets? They were released long ago, and the last update was for Android 2.3. They've been the same ever since, and I find it a really good feature of Android, to be able to use a small part of the app on your Homesceeen
You can't create styles You can't use many of the new layouts You can't create pages Creating a widget in overall is a very tedious process. From the settings of the widget, to the handlers. At least offer some Jetpack component for it
WOW after 12 years now I can find out if the keyboard is visible. I wish my boss saw this, they think I'm taking little too long to finish a task they don't know I can't even know if the keyboard is visible and need to dig around for a way.
Any thoughts about Widgets UI standardization ? Power menu tiles looks modern , may be if widgets gets the similar standard presentation it looks good on screen. Today some widgets even from Google looks like windows 98 days.
I am surprised by this event. I had subscribed to this event but didn't get that but suddenly UA-cam notified me, Even though developers.android.com is showing outdated info. Anyways I am happy with the android 11 and Android Studio features 😍🤩 hurray🎉
@@footballtalk4857 Samsung phones also still have the black/white bar. I mean, you can remove the hint altogether, but making it look like iPhone X's gestures is much cooler
@@footballtalk4857 Because I like Android. I like the features, apps and design of Samsung phones, but I can see that it has some issues, like everything has, and making a gesture hint like that would make it much more polished
As a user, some thoughts... * I really hope I have the ability to turn off bubbles. I don't want to see them. I don't like elements on top of what I am doing. This really needs to be a toggle to enable/disable if it isn't already. * Background location - I understand what the premise is behind making them more restrictive but shoving the user to the settings app is a poor user experience (this was done for default apps early in Android 10). As a user, I should be able to grant background location permissions to apps if I want to in that second dialog window that you mentioned without having to go into the settings app. * Autofill experience looks much improved, but I find it too often to be hit or miss. The API itself needs work and we could have gone without the updated UI if more focus could have been spent on making sure the autofill API works 100% of the time.
I think it would be handy to mention which of these (if any) features are/gonna be backwards compatible (thru Jetpack, I guess?). Feel like most teams wont bother implementing most of this stuff if it's only for Android 11.
I think that the permission system is still more and more complicated. I understand that some permissions are more dangerous than others. But the current way, when more and more permissions are hidden somewhere in the settings. Some phone even doesn't support the Intent to there, because they have completely rewritten settings application. So give permission for the user is a nightmare and the developer is a total mess to handle it. Please put at least all the possible settings to one place to the AppInfo screen, really everything (accessibility, overlay, background data, background location access, usage stats access). Also, I have sometimes issue to found a particular place where to set some permission even when I'm a developer. Best would be if we will have a possibility to explain why the app needs this metadata directly in the settings inside of the app info. If your app really need a permission it is really a nightmare. We need to first explain the reason, then open some settings with hoping that it will work on all devices, then we need to hope that the user will found our app in the long list. Then we need somehow return to the app explain the user another permission and open the whole story again.
The new storage permission is the one I do not linke...also the way some permissions have to be handled in different ways, makes the SDK inconsistent. E.g. we need a permission, we ask the user, we receive back the answer in the app. Do the same for all existing permissions. Unify them.
What about to make the permission to write to a drive working? I want to do some Music folder changes, for example rename audio files, or add a clip art from web, but no way. Why?
Sir, My simple app was install, after play protect doesn't recognise this app's developer. apps from unknown developers can sometimes be unsafe. how to solve this problem help me,

Even the docs are unclear what it's useful for: developer.android.com/reference/android/inputmethodservice/InputMethodService#onCreateInlineSuggestionsRequest(android.os.Bundle) Is it intended for keyboard apps and not the apps that have EditText, perhaps?
Your android 11 really sucks. I had android 10 before and im playing call of duty mobile with no issue. My phone got 8gb of ram, after you automatically update it to android 11, i cant play call of duty mobile smoothly i tried everything to get the speed i had before but nothing works,
Prefer this presentation format, it's all that's needed. No fancy stage, no unnecessary international air miles. etc.
Agreed. Like every Google event, there's hardly no excitement lol. -Now presenting the Chief of Android's design " Audience: CLAP Clllaaaa"-
Well some people actually like to get outside.
Google I/O is an incredible networking opportunity as well, apart from the social benefits.

Guys, can u work on the gesture navigation bar? I mean, can you guys get rid of the black/white bar under the gesture navigation?
If you have a Samsung phone you could have been done that and much more than Android 11

how many developers are working on android updates and android studio?
Good question
I wish android got a more mature looking design language throughout the whole UI
Guess it's beta day!

Any privacy controls for trackers?
You should introduce a feature - if user enable GPS Location for specific feature then it should be turn of when user is not using it.
Is it possible to store live caption recording with extended file?
Please say bubbles will be off as default for the user on a per app basis. Such an annoying intrusive feature of Facebook Messenger

I had enabled bubble feature in developer option, in android 10. But still the feature is not applied to any of the applications.
We still can't disable full screen notifications, so simple and yet impossible for google to make
One Time Permission is my favourite feature. For that one time per year, my wife asks me to post something on FB. :)
For the bubble feature, it was similar as facebook messenger bubble conversation
New DI: HILT, only one question - can it work with ViewModels without dancing with tambourine like with Dagger2?
Wireless Debugging? I was almost terrified when i heard about it. I can't even imaging what could happen with a security issue with this...
Awesome Chet Haase presentation delivery as usual!
