- The oil cap on our Alfa Romeo Giulietta was just spinning and clicking so to get it off we had to pull it apart. It still spins but while putting pressure around the outer edge it easily unscrews.

most stupid mechanism i've ever seen. even with the plier i cannot remove the fucking cap. i don't know why the hell it has to be this complicated, it's a fucking oil cap for god sake
You really have to squeeze hard
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much.
And newish Italian cars (giullieta 2014)
Can I put yellow from giulietta 1.4 ?
not sure sorry but it should be ok if it is the same size.
Cheers buddy, figured I had eaten too much soy, Much appreciated. :-)
Down about half a litre 😮 am I the only person who has this engine and doesn’t lose any oil whatsoever (Fiat Punto)
No, most are good with oil. Excessive consumption is rare unless the car has been abused.
What the hell is this mechanism supposed to do?
It keeps the oil in your engine 🤷♂️
@@TheEddysGarage the clicking and spinning top?
@@ignoracy like a fuel cap I suppose. So it doesn’t over tighten. I put it down to another weird Italian car thing
It's "auto torque". The mechanism makes it so that the cap is tightened just right. The idea is no leak yet no damage to o-ring. Sadly these break down too easily.
Worked like a charm, thanks!
Awesome, glad it helped. Remember to throw us a like so it can help out others with the same problem 👍
Thanks man, this was exactly what I needed to understant the cap on my brothers Fiat.
No problem. Please like the video so it is easy for others to find
I just broke the oil cap of my Mito, it was spinning and I end up breaking the plastic part that goes into the other piece... lesson learned.
At least they are cheap so grab a new one
I was going to top off the oil in my Abarth 500 yesterday and my oil cap is clicking and not coming off. Did you just pull the top off with the pliers or did you have to crush the top off?
@@fraustosound you can pull it off or squeeze the sides
