Askeladd said that quote in the Vinland Saga manga(release year-2005) before the Aot manga(release year-2009) even started publishing.
It's true, Askeladd said it first. It's even in the first volume of Vinland Saga. 🙂 Either way, it doesn't matter. They're two both really good shows in their respective rights, with two really good protagonists. So it doesn't really matter at all about who said what first. ☺️
Even if I don't like Attack on titan at all, I don't see the point of comparing who said that first between Askeladd and Kenny or the publication date of the manga.

(I mean the licensing and all that and the fear of not making a good adoption (it is very grimm...) makes animators afraid of the title berserk :/ ) a bad adoption is worst than no adoption (the last attempt was so horrible I want to forget it ever existed and other fans as well...and even worst is that now it counts as having an adoption so it's worst because other studios will find it harder to acquire the licensing of it...:( )

this reminds me of how this anime has so much emotions. like at first you didnt like Askellad but then the last episode seriously hit your heart. i've never thought before that even anime about history might be that good
Well it just depends how they choose to portray it most pepole now days is just so used to fantasy and sci fi based anime that its just become the norm and completley ignores the others that has great potential wich in this case is history and viking history
History can be just as good if not sometimes better many pepole just thinks that history wouldnt be good as they think that there would be 0 historical accuracy and is just gonna throw in a bunch of fantasy stuff and call it a day but vinland saga proved them wrong and if you also see the reason why they chose vikings well vikings wich is my ancestors we used to have strong opinions and thoughts tho we did awful things that doesnt mean at that time doesnt mean we have our soft spots in this case askeladd just kills tor/thors in the most dishonerable and cheating way possible only good thing is that tor/thors got to go to valhalla but torfinn/thorfinn only saw that as a great insult and obviously askeladd became his number 1 enemy and target wich built up the perfect story
Vikings are brave big brutes and high tempered makin them one of the most feared warriors and dishonor their freind family or comrade will piss them off baisicly do 1 bad thing to a viking and you got a army on your arse as they got each others backs
But i supose you get my point allready and seen that vinland saga has proven that again history and historical events with great accuracy can make for a banger of an anime
I am from norway so i have viking blood in me and i am proud of that tbf not proud of what we did but not all vikings where bad pepole and seeing this anime made be so happy tho as its based of my countrys history and the fact that they got everything correct is just the cherry on the top anyways who knows soon we might see an anime about greek history of spartans athenians some day and who knows maybe chinese and japaniese arabic with the Hashshashin/assassins history and american history theres so many histories and cultures around the world and so many eras and time lines that could make for intresting animes right?

This is an awesome cover! I can't believe I found it until now - it's unfortunate it lost its double meaning in translation though. Here's an alternative translation of the chorus that might not be singable, but retains the double meaning:
Original Japanese: 「ねぇ、どう描いてたんだろう？ どの景色を見ても何も感じなくなったよねぇ、考え直してもあの景色を求めていた僕は無感情なの？」
Modified English: "How had I envisioned it? I no longer feel a thing looking upon this scene. Thinking back, have I been heartless for pursuing this all along?"
(SPOILERS)
This translation isn't perfect either since it removes the scenery and potential for it to allude to Vineland, but it preserves the alternative meaning where the song is being sung from the perspective of Thorfinn watching Askeladd die. He's commenting on how he's grown numb to the sight of death, and doesn't really know what he had really envisioned Ashkeladd's death would be like - how it would make him feel. That's where the full weight of the cruelty of his lifestyle and the world around him finally hits him - which is the beauty of this song. It has this alternate meaning after the end of the anime.

Basic premise is it's a semihistorical drama about the Viking era. It focuses on a young boy named Thorfin and his misguided quest for revenge. Great animation and really good with details.
