I admire all the 'lacy work' on her gown. The use of light in the foreground to define things and the dulling of the background gives a depth of almost 3D quality.
I remember seeing "The Mona Lisa" in the summer of 1968 when Paris was under military rule due to strikes that temporarily threatened the city and the country. Luckily, I took a gamble and went. Good thing--there were no long lines to get into the Louvre, the bateaux mouches, a student hotel, etc.
I was fortunate to visit Paris & the Mona Lisa at Le Louvre back 2004, I understood that Leonardo Da Vinci travelled the world, on a promotional tour with the painting, & that's it became so well known.
Not many people know that Da Vinci is not a surname of Leonardo, rather it refers to the name of a italian village or town where Leonardo was born. Hence, his original family name was never known.
Yes, “Mia Donna” meaning my lady in Italian, and this got shortened to Monna. However, standard English is Mona. It is very common for foreign words to get altered in spelling and pronunciation as they enter English common usage (or any language for that matter). Here’s a hilarious case in point: ua-cam.com/video/s1wqpTakGsE/v-deo.html Enjoy!
Why do you claim this painting to be the most beutiful ? It appears that she is just a plump women of that period, perhaps they like them so but it is not the most beutiful..
Beautiful for from and style :) especially given the context of its time, when it was unlike anything else that had ever been painted till then and mesmerizing in view of that

Go to the Louvre in Paris and read how it is named: "Monna Lisa" (with double n) and not "Mona Lisa". "Monna" comes from "madonna", meaning "Mrs."

Am I tripping? Did the painting just wink at me?
Might be tripping 😉 but no, she winked.
on thing you left out is that she has no eyebrows or eyelashes.
haha point
That's the true poker face
😂
I meant bluff
not for sale, not available
Hahaha indeed, you’re also MONA LISA?! 👋
That enigmatic smile, I think I know what it means. She's dropped a silent fart and she's waiting for it to reach Leonardo
lol
Am I the only one who thinks Mona Lisa looks like gremlin Greta....
😆
They married her off to a rich old man…not a happy life
And there are parts of the romanticized past that are not so romantic in real life
Yes, there's nothing like judging the lives of those who lived five hundred years ago by today's standards and norms!
