The differences between a regular M and a Special are vast. 1 has to drive them to understand. The exhaust note is much louder, the suspension much firmer, the trans tuning is much more aggressive on both up and downshifts, and the engine tuning is much crisper.. I'm betting it makes more than the 255 advertised h/p.
My dad restored an ‘03 and jeez do I love this car, did a bit of work on the exhaust, removed one of the resonators, the 3.5 sounds amazing with this quick mod
They actually do have more then 255 horsepower it's been proven by a few owners who hooked them up to dynos when they were new they had 263 horsepower and 268 pound feet of torque with a top speed of 146 mph that I have tested my self on a back road 🤣
well that was my car i babied it till the end Still looks like brand new. Did everything I was told to do included only synthetic oil changes a must. She was a 2001 300m with only 92,000kms raced like a baby and it just dies on the highway. I Just bought a Hyundai sport and love it. Thanks Chrysler for your support
Wow. That was very expensive for a Chrysler product of the cab forward design area!!! Those cab forward Chryslers used to be a lot cheaper than todays Chryslers. But that 300M special was priced almost like a Cadillac..
The Special looks pretty sweet. The performance and exhaust note is appealing but I wonder if for mostly long road trips if a softer and quieter regular 300m might be better.
Yes these cars are very dependable if well taken care of if you change the oil every 5,000 miles and changes the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles and flush the coolant every 40,000 miles the 300M and 300M Special are very good cars make sure you also keep up on all other maintenance as well they get great milages are fast as hell and very stylish and cheap to buy and cheap to insure too.
As the second owner of a Voyager from the same era (which uses 300M floorpan and many parts underneath), Chryslers of this era are good, reliable vehicles that just require the owners to hit the service intervals on the mark. If they've been abused, they fall apart, if you get one well looked after, 500,000km is not unexpected. And never skip schedules for Engine Timing belts. :)
@@allpar300m6 Since posting, I found out it's the same floorpan layout as the Voyager, and there's room underneath to do a RWD V8 conversion on either the 300m or the Voyager. Just a shame we never got the 300M DownUnder, it would be an awesome long distance cruiser here.
altops Somehow the miles dont really make much difference on the pricetag here haha. there is two with less then 75kmiles and they want 2000USD for both. So its really hard to resist now when i saw this Motorweek episod
These 300m were so good that I haven't seen one on the road in NYC since 2005 lol really really good car huh and it makes me like NYC you don't see any of them that tells you a whole lot especially my uncle one for one year and it almost killed her twice she told the dealership she doesn't want it back when it tries to kill her in the second time and the tow truck took it
@@jacobreed47 Same. I had an ‘02 300M Special years ago, was a GREAT car. Just picked up a ‘19 300C Hemi, was a manufacturer car owned by Chrysler Training Center. 15k miles and still smells new. Absolutely perfect 👌🏻 I hope Chrysler has a comeback soon!
That V6 Sounds Amazing!
yeah that exhaust sounds hot for a factory setup!
I always loved the 300M, and I _really_ liked the Special, but *man* this thing sounds good! I never realized that.
Rode in a brand new one as a teen and have loved those ever since … even wanted a silver one so badly back then.
I've owned two and still have one. I love these cars!!!
I miss the old Chrysler brand.
The most powerful car in its class.👍

Adam Trombino love my special. got 310,000kms on her and runs so smooth.
You sir are correct. I have a 2003 base 300m and a 2004 300M Special and there's a BIG differences between the two.
My dad has a 2002 300m special and they are great. Nice exhaust, great suspension and the transmission is tuned to shift at a high RPM

These cars were amazing and still are a great car. Some cheap insides but overall still nice. Seemed quicker then what they clocked here.
How can you say that? Have you ever touch those spongy door panels or dashboard, your finger can sink into the dashboard
Lori I had one and it was not that bad. Little over exaggerated.
Amazing Car!

When you mention leather seating in '80s-90s-early 2000s Chrysler sedan, only one name comes to my mind - Mark Cross.
Great car 👍👍i have a 2004 300m Special.
and I'm in contact with a guy who has a '03 special!! im tickled pink lol
Love my special lol I never really see no one wit the color I got . I be cruisin
With the right BCM, OE wiring, dash assembly and programming , can I install 300m special option on a chrysler concorde 98-04 ??? Thanks
I miss mine.
awesome car... just stupid to repair... engine bay crammed pack
yeah but it really is easy to un pack.
I'm going to look at this exact same car this evening hope its decent maybe I'll buy it
I'm hoping this will make a good first car 😁
I own one, don't waste your money, serious suspension problems and gauges not lighting up at night. They are great driving cars but very problematic.
lynn thacks these are common problems to expect with any old car actually

Wonder how one of these would be with the Pentastar 3.6 and 9 speed....
wiibaron I would guess a 50 mph burnout and high 5 second 0-60.
Did these ever come with the AWD system? Wondering how cool one would be swapped to RWD, or V8 AWD.
FWD only. This car was really supposed to be the 1998 2nd Gen Eagle Vision .

The auto stick is great if you want to ruin you transmission fast😂

how is it on fuel?
not the best till i connected lose wires to manifold tuner. I dont drive at all right now have other cars.
Thx for a fast reply. Is 1.1l per 10km fair or is it more? You can buy this cars really cheap where I live. Around 1-2000USD
we're mgs here. i paid $5000 it had only 45k miles on it.

If I only it had Toyota or Honda reliability.
Me pican las pelotas hermano, vivo en mi auto y hace como tres meses que no me lavo las bolas. No me prestas una ducha ?
I will never buy a Chrysler again. EVER!
I will. Just bought a 2019 Chrysler 300S VW RWD and I'm loving it. And also bought a new Chrysler Pacifica S. Both cars are great.
