Great video! I put my regular blades back on but I also put large finish mower blades on it at the 3 and 9 position for balance. The big blades handle most of it and the smaller blades really bit it clean. I use it for mowing but I wanted to see if it could handle brush so I knocked down some brush up to about the size of your wrist and it held up great. Not sure how long it would last with the smaller blades but the heavier bush hog blades do most of the work anyway. I just like a real clean cut
Very much enjoy watching you videos. Same how you remind me, because of manner in which you're working and language (words) you use, about John Wayne. To me he was also a slow talking individual the way he went around doing thinks. By the way, as far as I could make out you seemed to have fitted the gearbox with the bolts and nuts the other way around. The nuts are now located on the bottom and wil collect lots of dirt (& rust). This will possibly make it more difficult in case you have the replace the gearbox again. My pa and ma used to run a cattle farm with horses in Holland before, during and after the 2nd world war. The other day I also enjoyed your videos with you and your son or grandson. It reminds me of the times having my grandson Jaos around me while working in the garden or shed. I myself having lived in Canada for nearly 10 years have very much enjoyed my time of there. Back in Holland for years we've been going around driving a Dodge Ram and F350 pickup truck. Now my grandson tells me that, when he grows up, he like to have one too. Again, I very much enjoy your videos, so keep posting them ok! GOd bless
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I have an HX20 that has huge acres on it. Lots of custom mowing of CRP and wheat stubble. Just rebuilt the splitter case this fall and need to replace or repair both wing boxes this winter. Overall an incredibly reliable machine.
New hat after being in the vac tank. 😉 Going from one repair to the next just shows how much variety there is on farm everyday of the year. If anyone says this channel is boring they are completely wrong. Thank you for today's video.
Thanks for the comment Steve. Actually it's the same hat I had on working on the tank. Same bibs to, everything was clean and fresh right out of the drier.
Great video Andrew! Yikes that gear box couldn't have been cheap! The shop labor you save yourself in being able to fix everything from your lawnmower to your to the mean green chopper is priceless!
@ I have a cx15 and in the process of changing out the center gearbox because a previous owner let barings go to long and ate away the housing around the chase going to the main transmission, any how im trying to pull off the stump jumper and it wont budge
Thanks Mike, they are for sure a great tool. We don't use air impacts at all anymore unless we are doing truck tires or something. We have such good luck with the 18v Milwaukee's and use them so much we wear off the anvil to the point wear a socket doesn't stay on them.
We use a jd hx 10 ft offset heavy duty cutter in our orchards gets right under the trees and if there are any down branches up to 4 in just go right over them shreds them right up. That mower is bulletproof.
We had an hx15 before this one. The c I guess it's supposed to stand for commercial. It's no different and the hx like yours. It was a heavy unit that did well for us.
Must be a guy thing but when you were looking at the old gearbox you stick your tongue out when concentrating. I do the same and now that I’m trying to film myself I do it more. My dad does it as well. Thanks for the video Andy. I bought the shaft when mine broke probably should have just bought the whole thing but no problems so far and that was 8 years ago.
Very correct sir. That was the second rebuild bottom seal went smoked the bearings. Much cheaper rebuild that time as I didn’t need the shafts. Now the whole gearbox mount broke out and needs welded but found a used mx10 at a good deal and picked it up till I do those repairs. Thanks for replying Andy. Love yalls work ethic.
I think Deere has had a lot of trouble with those gear boxes. I have a MX6 mower(less than a year old) that the output shaft was bent on. Deere replaced it with a new one with a 5 year warranty. Dealer told me Deere changed suppliers from mexico to china or vice versa I don't remember because of it.
Watching your video today I couldn't help but Wonder. Before you had the camera to talk to did you ever talk out loud to yourself when you were fixing stuff? LOL they say it wouldn't make you cuckoo unless you unless of course you answer yourself. LOL Thanks for your videos they're very enjoyable everyday your perseverance and skill set amazes me.

Thanks for the kind words, the bolts went down threw. Down there they get dirty but if they were up threw they would be exposed to the elements.
Understand
video. You Andy for all you do. We need more guys like you. Would like to meet you someday thanks again

How do you separate the stump jumper and blade assembly from the gear box?
Haven’t had one ever come off hard
@ I have a cx15 and in the process of changing out the center gearbox because a previous owner let barings go to long and ate away the housing around the chase going to the main transmission, any how im trying to pull off the stump jumper and it wont budge
Andy one fo your comments was Deere has a lot of trouble with gear boxes.i have run my chopper 5/6 years w/ out one problem. Thanks
Yeah I wouldn't think they were any problems with great boxes
Maybe Andy had a few more gear boxes than you do Doug, or your just a better operator?
I know this video was a while ago but how in God's name did you get the stump jumper blade holder off that gear box any info would be awesome!!
Things were just working in our favor is all
Great job on the repair Andy. Gotta love those impacts!

Great vid Andy, I can just imagine the wear and tear those bush hogs get chopping for hours occasionally hitting rocks and stumps. Cheers
That's for sure Ed
How many people work in your shop all day?
It varies,3-4
Great video as always! 👍
Oh and Happy Birthday to junior! If I got it right he had his birthday yesterday...

Love the videos keep up the work on them
Good job Sarah is back in business
Yes she is, just as soon as we lose a little snow she can head back out with it.
That was a real treat to fix something that wasn't swimming in cow manure!
Rodney Erdmann yeah I didn’t even get my hands dirty.
NOT For Me! Andy, Before you work on the bush hog again, Back it into the Lagoon please!

Good deal, keep an eye on the seals is all. You'll never know when that bottom run goes out.
Very correct sir. That was the second rebuild bottom seal went smoked the bearings. Much cheaper rebuild that time as I didn’t need the shafts. Your tongue hanging out when you were taking that seal out with the screwdriver made me chuckle. Why do we all do that lol?
👍 Scratch and Sniff feature smelled alittle better then yesterday’s vid LOL
Yes much cleaner job

Oh yea I forgot. The world wouldn't exist or at least function without a good pair of Vice Grips..........
That's right vise grips are great tools
Sarah should be helping she broke it LOL great video!!!!!
Pete Nolte she should have been yes.
Time for Sara to get back to chopping those corn 🌽 stalks, “Get er done Sara, “🚜👍👍👍
That she does
Tell Jr happy bday I hope he had a good bday
Andrew W 4440 he says “ thanks “
Great video. You sound tired
A little, I go through tired spells once and awhile and it doesn't have to do with anything really.
Farming Fixing & Fabricating Yes me too
How many people work for you? Great videos!
Dennis Hampsten about 20 this time of year.
i bet that was about 6000$ or more for all them repairs andy, good for many years again.
Closer to about 4
liked the video andy thanks
maybe u would know. whats the reason for the large and small 1000 pto? is it just another way to get us to spend money
It's supposed to be a safer standard for larger horse power requirements.
We had seal go lost all our oil too
Great staying clean today.Make a change
An easy clean fix that 1👍has the snowstorm bothered you any??🇺🇸
No the storm isn't near us
@@FarmingFixingFabricating good 👍🇺🇸 looks a beast👎
What was the price of that repair?
The shaft, gear box, and blades were around$3,000 .I don't have the bill yet and would have to see what the stump jumper cost.
Great vid bud, not to bad a fix to do, one of the more easy ones for a change 👍👍👍
Stu Barry yes Stu this one was just bolt and play,a lot less going on.
Watching your video today I couldn't help but Wonder. Before you had the camera to talk to did you ever talk out loud to yourself when you were fixing stuff? LOL they say it wouldn't make you cuckoo unless you unless of course you answer yourself. LOL

Not sure if I talked to myself or not.
Great video thanks andy
Good video I am liking the workshop stuff
Simon Walton thanks going to be a couple more yet
I'm surprised that there isn't a hefty core value on it. I know new holland likes to do that...
Yeah you are right
Will you do a video on the parlor would be interesting to see
The Deere bush hogs are known for eating gearboxes. I’ve re built my mx7 twice.
SLC Farms yeah we have rebuilt a couple times to
Hi Andrew what hp do you need to run that mower
150 would be sufficient enough I would think.
I think the reason it broke was general, wear and tear.
Rob JW I think it broke due to general Sarah
Yeah you are probably right
