Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, a General Signals Type 1 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 1.5 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, 1 Safetran 12x24 inch light with a WCH 2nd Generation LED, a General Signals Type 1 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, NEG LED gate lights, and a RECO gate light.
After I caught L696, I went off to a nearby Publix to pick-up a lunch from before continuing on over to this crossing in Nashville. After a little while of waiting (during which I ate most of the sub I got), I was able to catch my second train of the day: CSX M584 rolling into Nashville with an ES44AH leading an ES40DC and another ES44AH for power.
This crossing is a pretty nice one, and one I'm glad I was finally able to get. The signals were installed here back in the late-90s by CSX, and remained largely unchanged up until at least the mid-2010s. Sometime between 2016 and 2018, the crossing would see its first major changes. The closer signal here would have its mast replaced, though it appears the light heads, gate mech, and bell were all reused onto the newer mast. At about the same time, however, the crossing was upgraded with Leotek EV Series LEDs. Then, sometime between 2018 and 2019, the crossing would be upgraded again, this time with the closer signal being replaced almost entirely with a brand new one, though thankfully the GS Type 1 e-bell would be reused onto the newer mast once again. Finally, sometime between 2019 and 2021, the left-rear light on the closer signal would be replaced, with another Safetran 12x24 inch light, though this one would have a WCH 2nd Gen LED in it. It seems this LED may have been reused from somewhere, based on the fact that the array appears to have already popped-out of the gasket.
Either way, the GS Type 1 pair here has thankfully survived the various upgrades and signal replacements, with both Type 1s still sounding rather healthy as well! Always nice to record more GS Type 1s, IMHO, especially when they're paired-up like these ones are. Another neat little detail to this crossing is the tip gate light on the closer signal, which appears to be a newer RECO incandescent gate light!
All in all, this is a nice little crossing and I'm glad I was finally able to record it. Hopefully no further major changes will occur to it, but hey, at least I got a video of its present condition.
