Not many drivers like cabovers. I started driving in 1995, in a 1991 International Cabover. Makes it easier to get in some places, but the overall ride is terrible since you are sitting on the front wheels.
Caboovers have been done away with here in the States since they are harder to get in & out of & takes more time & effort to jack the cab up/down for the engine access & your riding on top of the steer axle which gives the driver a rough ride.
I'm Indian and have been driving in Europe Germany and always been a fan of Kenworth and Peterbilt, and cuz of small roads I can't drive long nose but i do love cabovers, I'm thinking to import this k220 in Germany hher❤
Me pregunto si se puede comprar o importar ese camion Kenworth k220 para mexico , esos camiones con la especificaciones australianas, , serian exelentes para mexico y centro america , se deberia traer esos camiones para colombia y centro america y exelente para mexico
looks good but as a european i love my dutch scanias and i understand why outback truckers use old trucks but why this kenny still has the feel of 80s of course we have it also in eu where the interiors are made to look from 80s with the wheel the curtains and hanging things in the window but this trucks interior is just mix of 2015 technology and 80s feel i dunno know feels strange to me but hey personal prefference it is
How strong is that cab in a collision? Looks like it's held together with pop rivets not at all like a fully welded European one where high strength materials are used in the appropriate places..
Lets say I wanted to buy one of these Kenny whoppers. And I went to my neighborhood KW dealer. And said I want one of these Cab overs but left hand drive. Is it even possible to get one in the States???
I,m not sure mate, but i can tell you it was an American woman who led the design team in Melbourne. I watched a video about her on here. All the parts come out of Paccar, And we covert LHD Peterbilt's and American cars all the time here.
No, you can't. Kenworth doesn't make a LHD conversion for these cabover trucks, unfortunately, and they've actually said these aren't for export to the US or Canada.
You can get an extended cab as well. However, Australian truckdrivers do not do massive distances. They typically just swap trailers with another driver at a mid point. They basically never live in the truck. It's a different culture to US truckers. I'm travelling in the USA now from Australia. Your roads are ten times better and so much wider than Aussie roads. Cab overs are definitely required to turn a b double in the badly planned streets of Sydney.
Cool, yet every model, version, has its advantages & disadvantages. Bunk area is limited. I love the old cabover's. Yet living space for when you are on the road for weeks and or months. Really need more space. Best is the custom sleepers with a shitter & shower. Really suprised not one manufacturer has those options from the factory. Lots of custom sleepers on the road. Shows there is demand. Cabover is perfect for day runs. Yet not so good for long term runs. If they would build a longer wheel base with a big ass sleeper custom sleeper with shitter & shower. That would be awsume. As the wheelbase would be much shorter than having a 144" sleeper on a long nose. A cabover with a 120"-150" sleeper would be awesome. Still be able to get in & out of tighter locations. The ARI 144" sleeper is popular. Yet limits due to longer wheelbase. Bolt also builds awsume sleepers. Just need to win the lottery. Smuggle one of the new KW 220 in to the US. Lengthen the wheelbase, set it up so the cab tilts, yet leaves the sleeper so all your shit don't hit the windshield. Shorter wheelbase, shitter, shower, cooking range, table & big ass bed!
Really is stuck in the past...access from drivers seat to cab is hellish, you'd be better going out the drivers door and running round the cab! Glad to see it's an automated manual, not an automatic, as the DAF ZF boxes are horrible!
Eh? The daf ZF is a automated manual. They all are. Nothing wrong with the daf zf or in fact in a m.a.n, volvo have the best box. Surprisingly since kenworth is a pacar company, not a re badge job.
Clearly you've never been in a K200 or K200 mate. The engine hump unintentionally got removed when they raised the cab up to fit the bigger radiator when they designed the K200
As an American who grew up around these kinds of cabovers and has also been to Sweden seeing the Scania and Volvo trucks, if the euro style cabovers are in Australia, why would anyone choose this over any of those? Apart from “old school” look.
@@S3prayea definitely this is better than any cabover we have ever had here in the past. But this one still looks like it has the massive engine hump inside of cabovers of old, and I couldn’t imagine crawling up and on that when Scania, Volvo, and Merc have the almost flat to fully flat floors.
@@S3praoh ok, just looked up a pic. The one shot of the interior in the video the console made it look like there was still a huge hump, but the console is just really big and wraps around. Thanks
@@driver8703 no worries! And I forgot to mention that in reply to your very first comment, yes, euro cabovers are available in Australia, with the main exception of Renault trucks
Why the K220 is not offered in North America is a mystery to me, I am certain KW would find happy customers for this awesome truck.

@@nicholaswilson7734 , no need to tilt the cab for your daily checks as there are inspection covers or you can lift the radiator grille to do so.

I'm so happy that Australia still continues the k100 series or A.K.A kenworth cabovers since they stop building them in the USA.😢

Bring them to the UK and Europe , would fly off the shelf 😊

They're also available in New Zealand.
Australia and New Zealand.

them k220 bunks are small smh & i luv the k100s but do they offer bigger bunks like we have in the US Like the 72"
The one in the video is a standard cab. There is a bigger cab available
Does it have a variable speed limiter?

not strong at all ... any sort of USA or AU built trucks are fit for the bin regards safety ... but chrome looks great ....
I wish as many others they would still offer these in the U.S.
I wonder if you can get a left hand drive version.
Negative - they're all built in Australia in right hand drive
Too bad. I bet they would sell like hotcakes in the US.
As far as a cabovers goes congratulations Kenworth for keeping it real. Sell them in the USA 🇺🇸

Where do kenworth manufacture these cabovers.?.*
Muy buenos los videos saludos desde Córdoba, Argentina
If they made them left hand drive they would defentely sell in europe as well.
Can't imagine these doing well here.
Not saying there is anything really wrong with them, just that they are a far cry from a modern Scania.
