The ACR rod that you were showing has the round side that sticks out from the low side of the cam lobe when it is retracted, or spinning slowly. The extra hump on the low side of the cam lobe created by the ACR rod sticking up opens the valve slightly on the compression stroke in order to release some of the compression and allow it to spin easier. When the engine starts and the gear starts spinning at normal engine RPM, the weight on the ACR moves outward because of centrifugal force, rotating the small shaft and causing the flat part to align with the cam lobe and the extra hump goes away. That way when the engine starts, the valve follows the normal cam lobe profile and is closed completely during the compression stroke and creates normal compression for maximum power when the engine is running.
That’s correct, what he was saying just wasn’t making any sense to me 😂.
Great job Henry! The heat has everything slowed down, great job Henry 👍👍
When applying rtv gasket I always make sure both surfaces are completely clean with no old material or oil on them. Hand tighten bolts initially, then torque down an hour, or next day, depending upon what rtv is used.
The gasket was in good shape on the sump side, cleaned block side and added a small layer. My impact is rated at 18.5 ft lbs which is almost the torque specs
The intake takes in air and gas so it'll be on the carburetor side, exhaust blows it out so it's on the muffler side. Intake carburetor, exhaust muffler. I had a problem figuring it out but now its easier when I think of it that way. Same thing when you're setting valves .
This old man is staying out of the heat , but I'm still doing my part time air conditioned driving job still two days a week tho.
Make sure to use some blue lock tight on those sump bolts to keep them from backing out especially the ones around the flywheel cause if they back out during use the engine will be destroyed people give the courage engine a bad name long as you do proper maintenance oil change keep a check on those sump bolts make sure they don't back out they last just as long as a crappy Briggs & Stratton 🥴
Good tip bro, hope you'll subscribe
Hey Henry, good thing you have your own parts dept. hey.
Parts I have a lot of.
I'm sorry you found my video boring, I dont make them just to entertain you everyday for free! Since you've never contributed to the channel in any way, you really have no right to complain BILL KRAUSE!
Look at the exhaust port on the head, the other side has a carburetor on it.
I got a kohler courage i think the acr is not working on mine i got spark getting gas its turns over but no start so i think i take the sump off to see what is going on.
Shoot go go juice?
Kohler 19 Courage what size torque bit do you use to adjust the vales ?
I don’t know the number off hand, use the one that fits, go buy a set, they’re cheap and you’ll always have a need for them
Enjoyed the presentation, good info, question , what is the washer on the cam used for?
Not really sure, but common sense says keeps the west to a minimum given the cam is plastic. Hope you’re subscribed
Henry, the difference in the carburetor backing plates is 1 is fo17, 18, or 19 hp, with the throat restrictor and it other is for a 20HP and up.
Good info bro! Thx
So the 20HP and up version do not have a restrictor at all??? I ask because I have seen two versions. One has a solid restrictor built into the carb backing plate ( one single piece as seen in this video). The other version is just a backing plate by itself( also seen in this video) and the restrictor is a single piece which is inside the intake hole. This restrictor is hallow. Is this the restrictor on the 20HP and up versions.????
@joleaiperlis5347 I haven’t noticed a difference in performance at all with either
@@MowersNBlowers Good to know. Thank you!!!
Another great video Henry not sure why you keep getting a few thumbs down , did you apply lock tight to the sump bolts,
No, torqued them to specs, plus the rtv silicone is stronger than factory gasket. Haters will thumbs down without even watching it
Plus there’s always a bunch of mechanics or shop owners who don’t approve my tactics, gives them a bad name I guess! Salty, sour, jealousy…etc.
Henry whats the round think on your camera stand? A light? Thanks
ELEGIANT ELG-09 18" UA-camR VLOGGER LED RING LIGHT
Cool..good video.
I saw the key way laying in the hole the flywheel bolt came out of. I don’t know where it went. Did you find it?
No, never turned up.
@@MowersNBlowers make sure it didn't fall down the hole for the fly wheel bolt. You may not be able to tighten it fully.
It fell into the hole, need to fish it out before screwing the flywheel bolt back in
Too late
Bro.... Excellent you got the 6.0 battery, I love those, sorry about the battery though, since you blew the charger out have you tried to charge the little battery?
Yes, small battery is doneski
@@MowersNBlowers oh that sucks sorry bro
@@MowersNBlowers sorry bro..... Freaking thing was new.
Henry, i feel for you bro! Its humid and in the low 90's here also. Glad i dont have to make a video. Lol I went in my shop for about 15 minutes and went back to the AC. Had to mow my 91 year old mother inlaws yard. Not pleasant.😡😡 Looks like the kohler is going together nicely for you. Stay cool and hydrated! 🇺🇸Roger #mnblucas
Thanks bro!
Y'all don't know what Houston's heat and humidity feel like! Crossing my fingers, Henry!!!
Good video!! Do you have for sale cams? If so, how much are they? Thanks 19 hp. kohler courage
I have some, email me via about me tab.
Did you eve figure out why some cams have beefier lobes? ???
No never! You’re the first commenter that’s addressed it. I recently came upon an engine with the smaller lobes.
Oh bro, where I am, I can't find a single can of banner red anywhere in my area, and not much in any krylon color, wonder if it's due to "THE SHORTAGE".....LMAO
At 13:32, flywheel key falls off top of crank into bolt hole. So it seemed anyway.
Lol, never noticed and put the bolt right in and tightened
Henry how many LT1000's have you fixed before
I wanna say 25?
Intake is carburetor side and exhaust on exhaust side
do they have twin camshafts
That’s what it says in the title and the thumbnail
Why are you doing videos on the Kohler courage 19hp when you don't know the difference between the intake cam and the exhaust cam gear?
You gotta learn sometime!
What gasket sealer you use what kind
Permatex rtv silicone gasket maker
Thanks
I got a trans seal leak behind the brake rotor any tips on removing it lol.
Tractor 1999 weedeater 13 1/2 hp
You gotta remove the transmission and break it open! Lots a work! I’d just pour in some transmission leak seal or ATF. Not worth the trouble or find a new tranny
I thought they stop using plastic
They stopped making those engines
Hi Henry how's your son
Fine! Why wouldn’t he be fine?
