    morning.excelent job. one question. I bought carbon fiber and polyester resin only. Do I need gelcoat to wrap an interior plastic piece of my car or could I use the same resin? thank you in advance

    Cool video. For me, if I am not going to produce several of these and just cap the existing on like you did, I would just make carbon fiber directly on the part. Same difference but cheaper and save time. I'm assuming. I am completely new to this. Thoughts?

    Do you think this pattern coat primer can be used on 3d printed molds as the final surface of the mold? Or is it not durable enough?

    Hi, if you were going to make a one off say car fender, what process would you use to make a mould? Cheers

    • @CarbonWorkshops
      @CarbonWorkshops  Рік тому +1

      Probably the same method as this video, you could ditch the aluminium powder and use a normal vinyester gel coat if you planed of making the fedner by resin infusion process as the mould wouldn't need to get so hot.

    How many layers of fiber did you use to get about 1mm thickness? I'm looking into making A pillar covers and I'm not sure if I want to use 1mm or 2mm thick sheet wax and how many layers of fiber to use. I'm thinking I will vacuum bag it or possibly just start with hand layup

    • @CarbonWorkshops
      @CarbonWorkshops  Рік тому

      I used 1 layer 210g and 1 layer of 416g prepreg carbon fibre. You would need to experiment as wet lay will generally be slightly thicker.

    By adding this to cover the original panel wouldn’t it stick out ever so slightly from the other car panels?

    • @CarbonWorkshops
      @CarbonWorkshops  Рік тому

      Yes, but only by the thickness of the carbon fibre which is about 1mm cured so not really noticable.

    Hi, why didn't you make the mold directly on the wax sheet?

    • @CarbonWorkshops
      @CarbonWorkshops  Рік тому

      Because the finish the wax leaves in the mould requires alot of Sanding to get flat. And it's very awkward and time consuming

      @@CarbonWorkshops I with 3 coats of PVA on the wax sheet the mold is pretty good.
