  • In July of 1990 we went on a family trip to Old Orchard Beach, Maine. We stayed at the Lord's Motel (now the Wagon Wheel Motel) right near Orchard Beach. The rooms had VCRs so I got my dad to buy me a VHS tape so I could record some American TV as a souvenir. Since I was a fanatic of Canada's The Weather Network, I was mesmerized by The Weather Channel! I had to record some of that. I also recorded some public Saco, Maine TV bulletin station. I'm glad I kept the tape to have this 30 year old souvenir!
06:46 : There is also a small snippet of The Weather Network from August 3rd 1990 that I recorded to show the difference between the local forecasts.

This was also around the time they started to show in some areas of the U.S The first version of WS4000 which was still in text-only mode (until mid-April 1991) but had a radar image (which was only a frozen current image until mid-1992 when they showed the movement of the radar thru a 90 minute time period)

Then in 1993 (definitely by July), The Weather Channel started to play Network Music tracks, some of which were also played on The Weather Network and MétéoMédia around that timeframe for the local forecasts.

Been a long while since I've seen a weather related video on this channel and sadly now The Weather Channel hasn't been the same with all the ownership changes they've gone through, just like how The Weather Network/MétéoMédia have made programming changes over the course of the years, some not all for the better in recent years.
