Someone asked me why I always say 'morning' instead of 'good morning' - I said if it was a good morning I'd be watching Aaron 'CyberTron' Zheng who'd be back with a new Road to Ranked where he climbed the Regulation H ladder in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and provided live commentary as he went
I was the third opponent with the rain team. It was crazy enough that I got that high on the ladder, I didn't expect to wind up on UA-cam as well. 😂 Well played, I never expected Rock Slide on Snorlax. Otherwise, I wouldn't have switched pelipper into it.
Hey Aaron I got into Pokemon competitively because of you giving rental teams out. I started with the Toros team and have one 50% more than I've lost and I'm excited to try this game too. Thank you for making it easy to get into the game
That double-double protect is so poetic because Ryota was actually talking about how he once lost to a triple protect just moments before he was able to triple protect himself and win a game on one of his streams LOL
That is my first Kommentar in my life.. ypu are my Master and it Was an honor for me play with you. Trank you so much for All. I hope we See us on a next tournement or WM ;) thank you Mr. Zang 🤝 PS: I'm the gengar Player;) This worse the second game of you. 1 to 1 ;) all good for you .
That game 4 is a masterclass in how to remain flexible with your win condition as the board state changes throughout the battle to keep your momentum going. Aaron made it seem easy, but if Otsuba’s team had not been built with different but overlapping modes or if Aaron had not picked the exact four mons he did, that battle could have become very difficult to win after Snorlax got KO’d. Well done to both the team builder and the pilot 👏🏽
It appears as though having antisemitic protests while calling the other side Nazis was not the winning strategy. Let’s drop the antisemitism and win the next one.
Hey Aaron, the last time I tuned in to watch Road to Ranked was during Sword & Shield series 12 - over 2 years ago - but I've felt a recent resurgence for my interest in competitive Pokémon again so I'm back. I'm glad to see you're still doing your same thing, as great as ever. The mechanics and metagames of Scarlet and Violet are new to me, so this is an invaluable resource to help me re-enter and readjust to the game. Gotta say I'm really liking the look of this new format. :)
The circle cam is great! Give it about 30px (on HD 1920/1080) of space from the edges of the video for a more polished look, is my advice as a graphic designer :) Super fun team! I really love this format. It's awesome how deeply you understand these teams and seeing you use them to their full potential
This is by far one of the most interesting regulations I've seen. The lack of the typical powerhouses in competitive Pokemon allows more strategies and unpraised characters to come into the spotlight. Always a pleasure seeing my favorite Bug-typing make an appearance, and with great prominence too!
yeah thank god they got rid of all the powerhouses like gholdengo and both ursalunas and sneasler and dnite and rillaboom and archaludon and kingambit and annihilape
One of my favourite things lately has been seeing one of the teams you post on here, listen to you introduce it, have a go with it myself, then watch your battles and see where I went wrong (when I usually make a mess somehow)
I fell in love with this team since the intro and immediately went and got it. It’s my first time using a rented team but I’ve been struggling with my usual teams in the new season and I was stuck in the ultra ball rank, while now I’m getting some nice wins. So thank you for highlighting this team, Aaron!
I used to use custap explosion and sableye would use psych up to copy snorlax stats before it killed itself. I forgot what youtuber showcased that strat but it was a devastating strat back in sun/moon era
Great timing with this one. Thanks for uploading in the evening! I feel like Custap is underused in VGC (we see it a lot in singles). Of course, open teamsheet sort of makes it harder to use... so it makes sense that this team came from a Japanese player, since they have more closed teamsheet formats there. QOTD: Gen 1 designs are so iconic, it's hard to choose, but I think Venusaur is an excellent design that is also well-balanced competitively.
The content has been so so great recently and I know it’s been said a bunch I’m sure, but the consistency of uploads has been amazing as well! So nice always having a new vid to watch 🔥
The interaction between custap + bulky sweeper and trick room is the kind of strategy that changes the way people think about battling forever after that. Congrats to Otsubo for pushing the envelope. All of us mortals down here really appreciate it 👏🏽
QOTD: I'm always biased towards Gengar. Hopefully it eventually gets Levitate back, as I think it would really help it come back to relevancy in the meta. Prankster would also be cool, but it feels like it definitely would love a second viable ability.
Hey guys, Aaron Cybertron Zheng here, and he’s back with another episode of Road to Ranked, where he climbs the online Regulation H VGC ladder in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and provide live commentary as he goes.
Game 7 you were very worried about inaccurate moves but Gravity was still setup. I think you won regardless but Sleep Powder would be a guaranteed hit. Always amazed how you find and identify your win conditions in every match
There's something special about Aaron piloting Ryota Otsubo's teams in Road to Ranked, idk why QotD: I freaking love Gyarados, I think the only flaw is that it should've been water/dragon all along especially because it's referencing a legend about a carp transforming into a dragon. It's also ironic that gen 5 being my favorite gen, and the Magikarp line is barred behind the post-game. Not having a decent STAB physical flying move outside of generational gimmicks also sucks, but Waterfall goes brrrr quite literally
They’ve been swapping the rule set every few months. Reg H is the current one (no paradox or legendary Pokemon), Reg G (which we will be swapping back to) allows for Paradox/legendaries/restricted Pokemon. The letters just denote a new rule set
Imo I think one of the best designed mons from gen one has gotta be something like slowbro, alakazam, mew and Mewtwo. Yes it was just a coincidence that they're all psychic types lol
I ran into this team on ladder the other day, I play a Smogon meta where Custap was common, I’m lucky I knew what was coming. God I hate Custap Berry so much
the crazy thing about this team is that you pretty much are playing with a half hp snorlax after belly drum, and Aaron still manage to sweep games with snorlax still on the field/not getting KO'd, which further shows how well this team is built, and how well Aaron is playing too
I don't think I fought against any, but I'd consider leads like Torkoal + Lilligant to threaten Typhlosion with Sleep Powder or Indeedee + Scyther to threaten Dragon Tera and Helping Hand Dual Wingbeat to KO Typhlosion
QOTD: Snorlax has always been my fav design since day 1! So simple, and the lore that he's supposedly inspired by a GameFreak employee who was always falling asleep is just too perfect.
why are the 4 EVs left on scizors HP? taking them to another state would make it end at 145 HP which is better into stealth rocks (not relevant but you never know) and stuff like sand damage
Male Indeedee: faster (95 base speed vs 85), more offensive (105 SpA vs 95), gets access to Expanding Force Female Indeedee: more bulky (10 more base HP/Def/SpD) Male Indeedee is normally used on more offensive teams and has Focus Sash / max SpA/Speed investment while Female Indeedee runs little offensive/speed and used more for supportive roles (Follow Me / Trick Room)
Hey Aaron! I was your first opponent. I was scared of the custap rock slide turn 2, calling me out on that was a really good play. GGs!
GG Zach, great to play you
Get someone who looks at you the way Aaron looks at a Ryota Otsubo team.

I thought you would have that game too. Aaron did not have a good answer for your archaludon. GGs

I love this new format. It makes non meta pokemon meta again or at least usable. LOVE IT.
Yeah. Legendary/paradox pokemon makes stuff predictable. Too powerful. Creativity is a must.
Heya, been watching vgc for 2 years and just found your channel awesome job. New favorite.
Welcome, happy to have you here 😊
That is my first Kommentar in my life.. ypu are my Master and it Was an honor for me play with you. Trank you so much for All. I hope we See us on a next tournement or WM ;) thank you Mr. Zang 🤝

Anyone else loving this format?
I love doing crazy Dozo tatsu movesets🙌
Best format in the Gen imo.
As an American, I’m horribly anxious today. Thanks for posting so I have something happy to take my mind off of everything. ❤
Yeah you were right to be anxious.
Don’t worry, we’ll make it.
It appears as though having antisemitic protests while calling the other side Nazis was not the winning strategy. Let’s drop the antisemitism and win the next one.
All time favourite pokemon with belly drum. I have never clicked on a video so fast in my life!
This Snorlax set got top 16 of 2024 São Paulo regionals btw

Whenever I hear belly drum shenanigans you immediately got my complete attention. 👀

Excellent playing, commentary, and insight! Loved this team Aaron

Dang! Look at that neat circle Aaron is looking out of, what production 🤩
He looks like the baby sun in Teletubbies
@ you’re not wrong
I used to use custap explosion and sableye would use psych up to copy snorlax stats before it killed itself. I forgot what youtuber showcased that strat but it was a devastating strat back in sun/moon era

Best cure for both the flu and boredom are your videos. Keep them coming sir.
Thank you
Love to see Snorlax and Scyther, this regulation has had so many interesting and unique teams.
This looks like a team that ThatsA would stream with =P
much love! stay killin it : )
You’ve been uploading so much I’ve been stuck using the sneasler team still but this one looks fun to play!
Sleep powder in gravity is still good right?
Yep, totally forgot it was still active haha
@CybertronVGC fair enough, great content as always!
I love non restricted formats, so much variety!
CybertronVGC! Scyther was so good. It's always been my all time favorite mon. Love the content!
The content has been so so great recently and I know it’s been said a bunch I’m sure, but the consistency of uploads has been amazing as well! So nice always having a new vid to watch 🔥
It's that time of the year again where Ryota Otsubo rolls a handful of dice and lets the numbers cryptically whisper in his ear what to build.
🔥🔥🔥🔥I'm building a normal gym team for rank after going masters 2 seasons in a row. Great vid👍
Loving the consistency! Leaving a like and a comment
Protect consumes the berry for a fast protect? 😂
Yeah, sadly 😭
I watch Cybertron to see the absolute worst RNG possible, and this one delivers! A double double protect on the same turn? Only you, Aaron lmao 😅🤣
The interaction between custap + bulky sweeper and trick room is the kind of strategy that changes the way people think about battling forever after that. Congrats to Otsubo for pushing the envelope. All of us mortals down here really appreciate it 👏🏽
Snorlax is my favorite pokemon. I love how you make it work so good :D wish I had this kind of team on the regional in Gdańsk @_@
QOTD: I'm always biased towards Gengar. Hopefully it eventually gets Levitate back, as I think it would really help it come back to relevancy in the meta. Prankster would also be cool, but it feels like it definitely would love a second viable ability.
I def played you yesterday ❤ ggs
Hey guys, Aaron Cybertron Zheng here, and he’s back with another episode of Road to Ranked, where he climbs the online Regulation H VGC ladder in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and provide live commentary as he goes.
Snorlax, my boy, it's your time to shine again.
you know it’s a fire team when it’s created by 2017 world champion Ryota Otsobu 🔥
love to see scyther this team looks amazing
What are the calcs of bodyslam and how do they differ from facade? I think that if It takes many kills anyways, facade could be a good pick
Game 7 you were very worried about inaccurate moves but Gravity was still setup. I think you won regardless but Sleep Powder would be a guaranteed hit. Always amazed how you find and identify your win conditions in every match
Yeah, forgot about it still being up!
Wow. It's been a long time since I saw a snorlax
Eyyy I love the facecam in the corner!
There's something special about Aaron piloting Ryota Otsubo's teams in Road to Ranked, idk why
QotD: I freaking love Gyarados, I think the only flaw is that it should've been water/dragon all along especially because it's referencing a legend about a carp transforming into a dragon. Not having a decent STAB physical flying move outside of generational gimmicks also sucks, but Waterfall goes brrrr quite literally
1:19:40 you can still use sleep powder since gravity was up it increases the chance there.
I''ve been out in VGC for quite a while now. planning to get back. What are the regulation F H stands for?
They’ve been swapping the rule set every few months. Reg H is the current one (no paradox or legendary Pokemon), Reg G (which we will be swapping back to) allows for Paradox/legendaries/restricted Pokemon. The letters just denote a new rule set
I like the old camera! It’s weird but watching your thought process unfold as a player is more interesting when I can see your emotions better
I love Scyther so much
My lizard brain can't avoid loving nidoking.
Snorlax team on Road to Ranked?? Let's goooo!
Imo I think one of the best designed mons from gen one has gotta be something like slowbro, alakazam, mew and Mewtwo. Yes it was just a coincidence that they're all psychic types lol
Game 7: you had gravity to help with the sleep powder accuracy!
Totally forgot it was still active!
@@CybertronVGC It happens; you have a lot to keep track of! Love your content; huge fan :)
ohh nah they done put Aaron in the circle free my mans
I ran into this team on ladder the other day, I play a Smogon meta where Custap was common, I’m lucky I knew what was coming. God I hate Custap Berry so much
Whenever Aaron says “World Champion”, we know that it’s going to be Ryota Otsubo’s team.
the crazy thing about this team is that you pretty much are playing with a half hp snorlax after belly drum, and Aaron still manage to sweep games with snorlax still on the field/not getting KO'd, which further shows how well this team is built, and how well Aaron is playing too
Scyther is easily an all time favourite.
Its wild how good Wide Guard is in the meta right now but its so scarce ever since the legends left.
With the Snorlax would High Horsepower be a better fit than body slam to add diversity and deal with the steel types?
Comment for the algorithm
At the end of game 7, gravity was still up so sleep powder torkoal was a guaranteed win. Oponnent probably recognized that
Hi Aaron, did you run into a hisuian Typhlosion? If so, were you able to win? How would you lead against that?
I don't think I fought against any, but I'd consider leads like Torkoal + Lilligant to threaten Typhlosion with Sleep Powder or Indeedee + Scyther to threaten Dragon Tera and Helping Hand Dual Wingbeat to KO Typhlosion
1:19:23 With Gravity active that Sleep Powder would have been 100% accurate
Dragonite! My fav pkm!
I see Scyther, I click!
This reminds me so much of Vijays team
QOTD: Lapras
QOTD: hate to be that guy, but it’s Pikachu
He stuck for a reason!
QOTD
Dragonite
QOTD Ninetales. It says what it does and does what it says.
QOTD: Snorlax has always been my fav design since day 1! So simple, and the lore that he's supposedly inspired by a GameFreak employee who was always falling asleep is just too perfect.
SNORLAX FOR THE WIN!
QOTD: Raichu. Not the most powerful gen 1 design, but it's probably my favorite Pokemon to play with of all-time. Raichu has a really, really fun kit.
Hey Aaron! 👋🏼
QOTD: I rlly like how powerful and supportive Arcanine feels…just unfortunate that incin is kind of better in every way haha
1:13:29 we’ve got cool guys, cooler guys, and…decidueye (implied not cool)
I’ve been tryna make wish farigiraf work for the longest 😩
Best designed pokémon has to be Jigglypuff or Snorlax no bias whatsoever.
why are the 4 EVs left on scizors HP? taking them to another state would make it end at 145 HP which is better into stealth rocks (not relevant but you never know) and stuff like sand damage
What’s the difference between male/female Indedee?
Male Indeedee: faster (95 base speed vs 85), more offensive (105 SpA vs 95), gets access to Expanding Force
Female Indeedee: more bulky (10 more base HP/Def/SpD)
Male Indeedee is normally used on more offensive teams and has Focus Sash / max SpA/Speed investment while Female Indeedee runs little offensive/speed and used more for supportive roles (Follow Me / Trick Room)
This is actually a scyther video in disguise as a Snorlax video.
facade over body slam
Double double protect
Wish the cam was a bit bigger. It's more engaging imo.
QOTD: i know its cliche, but gyrados is a pretty great, classical design
日本人の構築なのかな??だとしたら使ってくれるの嬉しいね
Ghost gambit was so unfortunate
QOTD: I really like Gengar
WOOOOOOO
Okay, but wHy is Snorlax standing up? Um... Boo!
QOTD: Gengar.
1st!
Arcanine
