Just went to the Marine Corps Museum today for the first time and saw this film. It was EXCELLENT! The whole museum was really well done. Just fantastic!
William, I directed this film. We placed the artificial poppies as was true in 1918. Everything about this reenactment is correct - from uniforms to geographical direction. Accurate on all levels.
I always love going the the marine corps museum when I saw the film for the first time I thought it was the coolest world war 1 little movie, God bless
We in the UK are so great full to the USA for their sacrifice to bring WW1 to a close - its a dam shame that the post war settlement was so punitive that it sowed the seeds for WW2 The lessons learned should be that winning the peace needs to given equal determination
Jeez, guys. A nice try except for us out here that have an 'Eagle' eye! I saw a guy with a BAR at the beginning of that clip. Hmm. Weren't none there at the time. Then the guy with a suppressed '03? Nah. Not right out in the field. The CSRG Chauchat was OK but I didn't see it working. The '97 Winchester Trench shotgun? A nice touch.
Ted Dentay I was in this.....there were no BARS...We had some "Professional reenactors" with us to make sure we were doing things right. I got 2 weeks of TAD to do this.
The "silencer" is the VB grenade launcher. At this point in 1918 only Springfields and Chauchats would've seen action. The 1897s were issued later in September in time of St Mihiel.

There were quite a few red poppies growing in that field. A nice touch even if it was unintentional.

This should be recruiting commercial somehow...

The 'suppressor' was probably the cup for a rifle grenade launcher. One of the riflemen uses it right before the final attack into the woodline
