When I asked for recommendations on Instagram of where to explore in Bangkok, there were an overwhelmingly large number of people saying to visit Chinatown and Talat Noi. Luckily for us, these were areas already marked on our map from our existing research!
I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the bustling local surroundings and capturing little moments that make Asia so unique. The lighting was also working heavily in my favour, resulting in a very successful number of images in such a short time!
This was only day two of the Bangkok trip, so keep your eyes out for future videos coming soon!

Yup, we were staying right in those areas! My previous two vlogs show some photos from there, and I think I may possibly have another vlog coming up, if the edit works out as planned.

Haha definitely! Funny to think that it's only a matter of 0.2ºC change in body temperature, but enough to really feel it. I only know that because of all the temperature scanners that are about at the moment because of Covid, ha!

At the end of the video I can see you are in front of Hua Lamphong station. It’s very well worth it to go inside during daylight hours. The light and shadows are amazing.

Thank you! We have no plans for Songkran, so will probably spend most of the time just editing. It's nice to see some locals still having quiet celebrations with their family outside though
Hua Lam Pong Station behind you at the end. That's Bangkok's old station which is being closed down. Some very good photo ops in and around the station.
Yeah, I'd been meaning to get inside and have a look, but didn't get around to it. Then I heard it was closing down... We might be heading back to Bangkok again soon, so we'll see if I can fit it into our plans.
Love this vlog. Tha Maharaj, also nice place to visit too. It's not far from Wat Phra Kaew.

Lol, I just love it when you pan your camera whenever there's a motorbike rider carrying various kinds of stuff, from tied cardboxes, gas cylinder, or even a passenger who doesn't wear helmet. Feels like you are saying, "Look at this dude, so fearless!" 🤣
Haha! The funny thing is, most of the time I have an intention to pan the camera and then I usually find something interesting along the pan that I then continue on for. Just shows there's something that catches your attention at every moment!

China Town is awsome place, and you will.love it, should say I'm sure you both loved it and at night it really come to life, great video as always enjoy, be safe, catch you soon.
Absolutely loved Chinatown - feels like I made quite a few videos from there, but it's gonna take a while to edit them all haha!

You can stay at W22 by burasari, which is a good area to explore.
Literally sitting here wondering what camera setting you are using and my wish is instantly granted. Man... I really miss Bangkok!

Glad to hear you enjoyed it so much. Yes, I'd say there's a lot more in that area to explore. Yaowarat Road at night, Wat Mongkorn, Wat Traimitr (the large, towering temple near Odeon Circle which you went through), and if you follow Chaloen Krung Road (running parallel to Yaowarat) heading East you'll come to Pahurat (India Town) noted for selling fabrics. Happy Thai New Year! Unfortunately there's no water splashing activity for you to photograph, but I'm sure the flower adorned Buddha statues put up for the holiday are giving you some nice images.
We definitely only just scratched the surface on this day, haha! We ended up booking a hotel right around the corner and spent a good week filming in Chinatown. Looking forward to editing those vlogs over the coming weeks!

@@joeallam Oh, I meant to let you know, there's a Burmese restaurant on Petchaburi Soi 15 called Mandalay House. I heard from a friend that they have stuff set up for Thingyan, the Burmese variant of Songkran. I don't know what they have there exactly, thought I did see they posted they were going to have special snacks and foods that are traditionally associated with Burmese New Year. Not sure if they'll have music and performances or not. I did go to a Union Day festival they had there which featured performances from a variety of ethnic groups from Myanmar: Karen, Pa-oh, Kachin, Mon, Tai Yai, and Burman. It was great.

I agree! The next few videos should be longer, we were still acclimatising to the heat at the time this was filmed and unfortunately didn't get as many clips/vloggy parts as I first thought.

come to Philippines again! Manila is the best place to do street photography. Philippines has a large community of Fujifilm enthusiasts! Including me of course ☺
I would love to return to the Philippines! Manila definitely has similar vibes to Bangkok and likewise similar mentions when people often say to avoid it and head for the beaches, which I think is a massive shame! I love the mega cities!

Just wondering but how many Kilometers do you walk on a day like this?
It always varies, but it's always a lot haha! Usually somewhere in the range of about 8-14km but we've been known to do upwards of around 20km before.
You should try VietNam.
Obviously nice guy and good photographer but from what I Can see it seems that the moment chosen to shoot is not really the "decisive" one which (to me but it is just a feeling) which would bring more punch
This is what I’m looking for, I live in SEA and I wouldn’t shoot these because I find them uninspiring. From a foreigners perspective is much interesting.

your picture is very beautiful If there is no lamppost Instead, I am ashamed of this.
To me Bangkock is unrestrained chaos in the bad way: to many cramped people and things into very wide spaces, doing to many things in a terrible damp hot climate, with deep poverty everywhere. I did not liked it in the 4 days I was there.
The mindset of Bangkok and Thailand in generale I would define as "Horror Vacui", which doesn't mix well with Photography to me, as you really can create a focus point without too many distracting things everywhere in fore and background.
Japan is cramped too for example, but in a subtle way things have a sort of harmony missing here.
And I have to admit that the hot and static humidity of Bangkok with the toxic smog coming from thousand of completely free exhausting cars and motorbikes, wearing you down by the minutes, is a sensation that I cannot shrug off looking at your images.
